Anyone up for some Roosie Talk? - Thread #9

StoogeStooge Posts: 4,639 ✭✭✭✭✭

We were in need of a new Roosie thread as some on here haven't posted in a while (Me) and with that I have something to start this thread out.

At this time, I have decided to sell all of my remaining Roosevelt Dimes. My silver set 46-64-D MS66FB and higher, and whats left of my variety set, clads, and my 2 other partial silver sets. You can find them here:

https://www.pcgs.com/setregistry/half-dimes/roosevelt-dimes-major-sets/roosevelt-dimes-fb-basic-set-circulation-strikes-1946-1964/publishedset/152390

The complete set (#9th place set, 100% FB's) I would like to move intact for now, unless someone has to have a certain coin out of it, then we can talk. As far as my other dimes, I will accept offers at this time. I'm listing my dimes for sale here only for 7 days to give only Roosie collectors and whomever reads this first dibs. Please note that none of my dimes currently have been back to be regraded. In fact the last 3 dimes I sold have all upgraded to the new owners.

Right now I need to raise funds for a new car and or possibly a new trumpet. LOL priorities right? Anyways I will be sending these to GC or calling Wondercoins kid Justin to see if he wants the task.

Thanks!

Later, Paul.

Yeah, for years I've watched your set. Moving up and down the list. But you always showed improvements that one day you would sit atop that pile of dime collectors. And from there you smile down on the rest of us. I've even saved a few that you might need someday. Oh well I can watch you slide up another list one day. SIGH!!!

Not my coin, check Dick’s site. Very pretty for a 46 D.

  • Hey Jim,

How about posting link to your set. I’d love to take a look but don’t know which is yours.

Thanks guy's for the wonderful comments, I really appreciate it. The sets not quite finished, I only want MS67+ in the set...no FB's if possible, i.e.: 51-D and 59-D. Still have hope my 63 makes the + one day soon.

    Folks,

I have arrived at a point in my coin collecting that I had to make some difficult decisions. Of the modern circulating coins, Roosies were/are close to my heart. For one, the design on the obverse is one of my favorite Presidents, FDR. Also, he is from my home state of New York. The Roosies were the third denomination I collected after Lincolns and Jeffersons.

The Roosies "are close to my heart" is because I have decided to continue my focus on the proof finish.

The "were close to my heart" is because I have decided to sell my business strike coins. I am indebted to all of you because of your contributions to these coins over the years, which is the reason why these sets were often within the top 5 of the registry sets in which they were categorized.

The first group of the clad Roosies are going to be published for auction via Great Collections soon.

I know I might have jeopardized my prospects of an honorary mention in the Roosie gang. On the other hand, you can also view this as passing the baton to the next and younger members of the gang.

    Folks,

Just informed by GC that the Clads from 2008 to 2020 will be auctioned in 19 days. I will update specifics on the BST forum right after Christmas. Wouldn't it be nice to give a special gift to yourself post-Christmas?

    Happy Holidays
