I really like Dr. Dave's 1810 O-108. Once upon a time this was one of my favorite coins in my collection. Someone else just wanted it more than I could turn down at the time.

Here's an 1810 O.110 I bought on ebay five years ago. It was in an ANACS AU50 holder. PCGS crossed it at AU55. A rare win.

My only pickup from the ANA which I attended yesterday. I'm thinking it may be a B-3 or a B-4. Not too sure if someone can help. Nice original coin which I got at a great price. Could work on the pictures TBH.

It’s B-4. For me, the easiest way to differentiate B-3 from B-4 is to compare the position of “25 C.” relative to the arrow feathers and the tip of the branch. Nice pickup!

Thanks! It took me 15 minutes yesterday but I was able to figure out the die pair with a bunch of cracks on the reverse. Nice to have a conformation and an easier way to telling them apart .

Amazing newps, Lance!
My favorites are the 1808, 1817 (such a tough die marriage in AU), and the 1824 (incredible eye appeal and very hard in MS)!
Your 1808 looks undergraded to me and very deserving of an AU58.

And your two rarities are crazy tough to find in straight graded holders….awesome coins!
Did the 1829 O.118 recently go up to 5+?
Love their look too….very wholesome and original.

I had an awesome time last week at the ANA catching up with so many friends and dealers, and checking out the incredible exhibits.

I unfortunately didn’t buy any coins, but did submit some bust halves for regrading at PCGS and managed to get four out of nine to upgrade.

I was particularly happy with my 1814/3 upgrading to AU58. Such a tough die marriage to find well struck.

That 14/3 is just amazing, Dave. Nice upgrade! Pictures don't do it justice. Your collection is wonderful.

Re your question...no, the 29-118 is still an R5. The prime die state (without A2 filled) is probably a 5+.

I could write a whole show report based on the interesting and cool people I was able to meet in person. Some I have known here and finally got to meet, and others I had heard of or talked to elsewhere, and some I didn't even know yet. Overall the ANA was a great time for me.

I was able to win two coins in Sheridan's auction which I'll show here with pictures from Lance. The others will have to wait for a day or two, with further stories attached.

I bid early in Sheridan's auction based on Lance's pictures, and in hand viewing did not disappoint. I knew what I was bidding on and felt good I would win a couple, maybe.

Well, as thing sometimes happen, my bids slowly but surely started to fall in the last 24 hours. I guess I helped the consignor's, so I guess that's good. Anyway, of those, even with a raised "last hour" bid, I only won one, an 1834 O-114 (r1) from Tim Osborne's collection ... who I was able to meet at the show.

The second coin was one that was always on my list, but I really needed to see in person and consider a little more before I bid. I decided after viewing in hand I would take a shot, and in the last hour I placed a bid on that one. This is the 1814 O-107a (r5) ex-Frederick coin from the collection of Dr. Charles Link ... and like Tim, I was able to meet and chat with Chuck a little at the show.

Okay, here's another one with a bit of a story. So, one of the coins I had bid on in Sheridan's sale was the 1819/8 O-104 in P53cac, but even with a last minute bump I thought would take it home, I lost out on the coin.

However, earlier at the show I had found another 1819/8 that I also liked, this one a P55cac in the tougher O-103 marriage. After admiring the find, I told the dealer I wouldn’t be a buyer unless I lost out on the Auction coin … and unbeknownst to him, I still felt we’d have to find a better price than he was first thinking. Despite my protest, he told me he’d hold it for me until Thursday morning, just in case.

Well, as I said, I lost out on the Auction coin, so I studied up on the this one. Not really a O-103 prime state, there are light and somewhat incomplete portions of the first three reverse die cracks that make up the primary diagnostics of the “a” state. Not as difficult a rarity, but after some further discussion we agreed to a price and I took it home.
