The Mt Rushmore of Sportscards

OK, some of the topics are getting a little too heavy. Let's have some fun. Can you come up with a Mt Rushmore from your collection?

Here is mine, 1970's FB Greats Mt Rushmore

    Don't forget to add why it's your Mt Rushmore.

    I love the 1956 Mantle. I have one in a 4 in my Mantle pile.

    Are raw cards allowed? Because my best football card was a raw purchase and is currently sitting at SGC.

    Some of my best are currently sitting at Beckett. Be sometime this summer before I see them again.

    Wow this makes me regret selling all my collectibles 25 years ago upon college graduation. I actually had a walk-in closet that you couldn't walk-in anymore. I had so many of those same cards :(

    I agree with these 4.....and the JB rookie is UNBELIEVABLY under-valued....

    If anybody would care to help me carve out number 6 - I would love to acquire and slide a 1955 Bowman Mantle (8) and/or a 1957 Topps Mantle (8) into the mix ....

    Outta sight!

    I’m sure you posted that Namath before but my goodness!

    Lol, thanks Tim. Great Foreigner reference, BTW.

    I am so flakey when it comes to these kinds of threads, my tastes change regularly. I might have posted the Namath at some point, but I don't recall for sure.

    There are several other cards I like as much, if not more, that could be swapped in also. I guess I just don't have clear cut favorites.

    Todd Tobias - Grateful Collector - I focus on autographed American Football League sets, Fleer & Topps, 1960-1969, and lacrosse cards.

    @AFLfan
    @1951WheatiesPremium

    have to concur on that namath! color and centering are amazing. it's oversized, and one of the few mistakes ive made by not nailing it down. think this was the swift kick in the stones to get going! so thank you!?!?! ;)

    eta: not gonna lie. im nervous to even look at the price tags. it's prolly been 3 years since my last active search...

  • AFLfanAFLfan Posts: 1,272 ✭✭✭✭✭

    @blurryface... Thanks. I'm glad to have knocked the Namath off my list a while ago. That card was a PSA 5 that I broke out to get signed. I had won a Fantasy Football league one year a while back and used the prize to buy that card. I think it cost $400, if I recall. Namath was $180 at a signing, so I've got a bit over $600 into it with shipping and such. I don't know what the card (signed or unsigned) would sell for today.

    easy todd. i can read signals pretty easily. so you're basically telling me to paypal you $1200. got it. and sending now! ;)

    but seriously, that's the way to do it. that method and converting blue flips is/was the absolute best way to get into this game and stretch your dollar.

    was it a private signing? or did you get the meet and greet too?

    Perhaps it was a straight exchange?

    Todd Tobias has probably done as much if not more than Joe Namath.

    Before you call me nuts, Joe only helped make the league credible and memorable. Todd works to ensure its never forgotten.

    Which is more important to the AFL’s legacy?

    Yes, that just happened.
