Is this too crusty for you? Or are you on board with this look?

It’s ok looking. I’d like it better if the face wasn’t as whitish looking.

Not too crusty for me ... it might be dark and deep crust, but that one has a wholesome look in my book. Nice even wear, not to many hits or scrapes, that CircCam look, with almost a halo effect on the fade.
Yours or are you considering? Mid VF?

I prefer less crusty. I am not a fan of the black toning.
Just trying to find the right DBH type coin for me within my budget. This is graded by PCGS as VF20. I'm just on the fence whether this is just a little too dark for me. I keep coming back to it because it does have that CircCam look I love.

What's wrong with that? Looks very nice to me.
Last year of the draped bust half. Nice pick up.
Lance.
I think it has a pleasant look.
Looks very nice

When I think of a nice old circ coin it should look just like that! Great looking example congratulation
Love how the high points are lighter , very nice.
Just buy the coin, if you find one you like better you can always upgrade and sell it on the forum.
The key is you keep going back to it.
Good luck
I like it.

Less crusty but it's still a nice looking coin to me
I wouldn't kick it out of my collection.
I'm a fan.
Me Likum!
Looks very nice to me.
That has a solid CircCam look and nice detail. Not too dark at all... Cheers, RickO
Personally, I'd pass on that one
That look is okay by me. It sure beats an example in the same circulated grade, VF, that is bright white.
It looks good to me. Thankfully, it hasn't been dipped.
If it is questionable whether it satisfies what you want now, it will likely always be "just a bit short of what I'd like". I'd keep up the quest for what looks the right one.

Now listen boy, I'm tryin' to teach you sumthin' . . . . that ain't an optical illusion, it only looks like an optical illusion.

This! (to quote someone else)
It doesn’t do much for me.
Looks fine!
No, not crusty at all.

Too dark for my taste, but congrats on the new addition if you bought it.
Not if you have a lust for crust.
I personally like it. It's difficult to find these early type coins that are just right for your tastes. There are so many factors to consider especially with the strike. This coin is well balanced with full rims. While not the strongest strike the reverse stars are all there and most of the motto.
looks fine to me.

Looks good. In hand, it might look different than the image and could have some iridescent colors in the dark areas. The image is not that great and make sure the seller has a return policy in case there are hidden issues.
1807 T-2/O.109 has weakly struck centers, this is an earlier die stage before the obverse die shattered.
No problems here. Glad it's not blast white.

It's funny, you mentioned my requirements for the strike of this type. The full rims, and all stars present on the reverse along with the dark fields and light devices make the eye appeal for me. My only concern is whether it's just too dark, but I'll see how it looks in hand. I highly doubt I'll be returning this coin.

Nice coin!
I would hate it on a Walker, but love it on early type like that!
Beautiful, I’ll take a few dozen like that.

I almost agree with @jabba. There is always too dark, but gorgeous getting there.
Great look, I like.

This is an interesting comment, and one I consider when I ponder what might or might not be "too crusty". In my own mind, it seems affected somewhat by grade, but mostly by the age of the series.
I wonder if this is because we have advanced in our preservation techniques over the last century to a point that we don't accept the darker coins as reasonable as we move into the 20th Century designs. I see may mid-range (F, VF, EF) coins that may have been soap and watered (or whatever) to keep them from getting too dark, but the look seems much more acceptable on 20th century vs 18th and 19th Century designs.
While I tend to agree it would be a shock to see groups of Walkers toned like this, if there was, I am not sure they wouldn't get an appreciation.

Here's what it looks like in hand. There's even a little color on the obverse! I'm so happy with this purchase!
