    @ricko
    Watchmakers service code.
    Many of them use an arbitrary code understood only by the watckmaker-others refer to an entry in a repair ledger.

    Sometimes it's possible to discern a date, but usually that's the best that can be done.

    Of course, there are exceptions to this. There was an article by Doug Sinclair in the NAWCC bulletin about a Waltham Crescent St. where he was able to find out quite a bit of information. Specifically, he was able to find out the name of the original owner and his home town. From there, he'd been able to find out the watchmaker who had serviced it through its working life, and, through an unusual set of circumstances, locate the watchmaker's repair ledgers. The watch had been serviced 20 some odd times through its working life-most just routine two year services(the owner worked for the railroad) but plenty of repairs also. It's a really interesting read into the practice.

    I know it’s a day early but no school tomorrow so it feels like a Friday :p . I got these pairs of cufflinks in and liked that the flower on had silver import marks from Austria. They are 835 silver. The mark is a wing with a 3 signifying 835 silver and a L saying it was assayed in Linz. The mark was used from 1922-1975. I might keep It I might not. The other pairs are for sale if anyone’s interested

    From my observation, the Johnson Matthey plastic is safe.

    Looks like a long-assembled collection, carefully arranged in an attractive dish, for a nice photo.

    I bought 4 nice Walkers out of a 90% pile but didn't feel they were photo worthy... just added them to a tube I've been filling.

    Nothing cool, but did get
    this earlier this week...LCS had it. I’ve done lots of business with him, so when he has surplus bullion and I have surplus cash, he sells at spot... nothing fancy, but after a few months on the sideline, I am adding a little gold to the pile. Still not ready to add silver.

    Picked these up a couple weeks ago for about 65% of scrap on eBay. Pretty neat pair of cufflinks. the engraving on them looks cool under magnification.

    Most of it was destined for the melter. When I get the chance I'll buy some gold at spot or back of spot. Some of them I question why I save. Like the mucked up Chinese Panda.

    Did just pick out a nice unused small wedding set. Another Guard member was gonna ask his HS sweetheart the big question and needed a ring. So helped the young guy out with it at melt.
