I thought it would go for more than that price with all the crazy money that's been thrown around on sports cards this year.

I know your post was in jest, but Fritsch used to have a museum in Cooperstown, I want to say approximately 1990. It was AWESOME. I was about 12-13 years old at the time, and huge into cards. It was basically heaven with all of his old cards and the backstory behind how rare they are, and how he secured them. You even got an 8 card set of his top cards and the story behind them (I still have mine, I will try to find and post a pic). I lived about an hour away from Cooperstown, and went during a HOF induction weekend. I could not wait to get back to this museum - it was located a few blocks away from the HOF, on a side street, one block off of Main St. The next time I was in Cooperstown, the first thing I did was go back to the Fritsch museum. It was closed and I was devastated. Every time I would go to Cooperstown following that, I would walk by on the miracle chance they reopened. They never did. Would you believe every time I am in Cooperstown (1-2 times per year), I walk by the building for the childhood memory and to see what is in there now?

The 1952 Topps was a high number wax case. The 1954 and 1955 Bowman and Topps were
wax boxes not cases. Many were water damaged.

Looks like Blowout Cards is reporting they had a hand in helping to win this 86 Fleer Case auction for a unnamed buyer.

Of course that's what they will say...... until the next one appears and they call it an unexpected find in the depths of their famous Fritsch Vault.

I thought it was only several hundred boxes from the 50's, and I agree, most were water damaged and insect infested.
