One question, I've seen a lot of Dan's coins pictured here and items on eBay that have been encased in holders. It seems like several have rotated die reverse, only about 5°, is this done on purpose or is it just the way these coins are pictured ?

@Gluggo, are your pics of one coin or several? It appears your die crack extends almost to the bottom of the eagle's tail. CAF's coin appears to be a much earlier die state -- all pretty dang cool! Thanks for sharing ~~

Oh those early Carr Peace Dollars -- those are really great pieces, basically a historical landmark strike to honor this great US silver dollar series. It was also where Dan experimented with many failures with his overstrikes. One only has to peruse his blog http://www.moonlightmint.com/blog_1.htm to get a glimpse of how many trials and errors occurred before he was able to perfect the process to release any. I'm still a newp on these and encourage any thoughts from those "more in the know".

Good memory! I was lucky to win that one. That's one of my favorites as I'm a big fan of both Moonlight Mint Open House medals and Dan's concept dollars. I spoke to Dan on this piece and he said that he made it for himself so it has a nice history to it as well.
I integrated Carr's 90% silver dollar overstrikes into our registry (SSDC) to give a home for collectors of his outstanding craftmanship. To support it, I have been assembling a reference set, which is almost 90% complete.
My favorite is one he struck late last year. I sent him the rattiest plugged 1801 early dollar. He struck his 1805 (Die Pair 1) fantasy dollar with it as the host. Low population, as one would expect. The difference in presentation is outstanding. Please pardon the image qualities. I shot the one with a cell phone and the other with a DInolite.

I did not collect Moonlight Mint items when the October 2010 Die Pair 5 1964D were minted and sold.
I am very happy to get these accurate, based on archived 64D obverse die image direct from Daniel Carr in 2020.
I Still think .30" dies with a thinner than current 1920 fat "IGWT" motto struck in high relief 1964D Peace would be an awesome addition to complete my 64D Peace collection.
I really enjoy the 31S High Relief Peace so being able to get a 64D HR to go along with my 31S HR would be fantastic.

I realized a while back that coin collectors might also own old historic / scrapped dies.
I think Daniel got access to someones die last year and did a limited run. Makes it more affordable when dies are on loan for his artsy projects.
