Still not much mention of receiving the "golden ticket" COA. Maybe they're all awaiting grading and still in the box undiscovered?

Mine coming tomorrow. Maybe the first one?

with a 0.33% change of getting one, I would suspect their in an unopened box somewhere. Mega moon money to one of the first 10 COAs and a 70 grade

I thought you couldn't get the cert and the coin slabbed with the same number unless sent sealed to PCGS?

Wow I just read that post on people not able to buy the coin. Lots of upset people. They kept mentioning the TV people are the TV people here too? :|
I bet the HSN guy did not take advantage of this sale. He is a honest guy right? I can’t temember his name and I can’t afford to watch TV so I just surf the Internet.

I have a bizarre question - would the very highest COA number (presumably 30000) carry any premium, too?

PCGS will slab the cert and include the cert number on the coin slab. NGC will include the cert number on the coin slab.

    Both need unopened boxes submitted

while it may be true that you might leave some money on the table if you open it up and sell it raw, the flip (no pun intended) side to that is the same amount would be spent on joining a TPG, then paying for shipping, to and from, grading costs, any additional costs for special labels, and slabbing the COA. there's a couple hundred tied up in that process. then couple that with the potential of coming back a 69 or less. you're back to what you would have realized by selling it raw in the first place. I want to see my COA and the coin itself. then I will know if I got the "golden ticket", which will still bring a premium on Ebay or to a dealer, and I get to enjoy the coin. I could always have these graded without the first strike designation if I wanted. when mine arrives it will be opened.

This makes me think of something. I have never been a fan of the first strike designation, but doesn't the numbered certificates totally make this irrelevant? Sure it doesn't tell you the order of the coins was made, but the first strike designation didn't either.

My Mint box was pretty well taped this time. Looked like a little wider tape than normal and went over the sides better. Mine also had oil or something dark liquid spilled on it and scuff marks. I believe it was fully intact as the Mint issued, so I double boxed it and off it went.

The palladium coin Mint boxes could actually be opened carefully, probably without even touching or removing a little bit of the tape.

I can see the package opener folks saying, "like I just opened a signed certificate with #001 on it, like let's make a bunch of copies of it for fun...or like I will trade you for a #007, or like mine looks like Ryder spelled his name wrong compared to the printed version and it could be an error COA slab worth even more." Or maybe someone actually leaves the box with #001 unopened in a big vault gun safe and it won't ever be found till their grandkids open it at an estate sale in 20 years. The possibilities are endless. ;)

There are a lot of fun numbers possible for this game.

I wanted to open mine really bad, but just could not do it this time.

    If I had a certificate #00070 I would want it on a SP70 coin since I collect modern silver 70's, but if I received a certificate #00069, I would actually be happy to get a 69 :)

I received mine on Monday and didn't think twice about the writing on the side (assumed UPS just wrote on the box). After following this thread and looking closer, the tape goes slightly over the bottom of the 2. My original plan was to just keep it boxed, but now my brain is going wild reading WAY to far into 4 random numbers on the side of a box....

    Thoughts?

I could only guess ... certainly intriguing ...open that guy and let us know if the hand written number on the box translates that it was a selected box at the mint to include a "golden ticket"! Good luck! (don't forget to do a show and tell)

Weren't Beanie Babies also worth a lot more with all the paperwork?

Depends. I once met a man and his wife in a parking lot to sell him a load of the Beanie Buddies as he was going to a show to sell them along with his Beanie Babies. He had a station wagon and did not have room for all the boxes so he took them out and stuffed as many as he could into his car crushing all the tags. Did't matter and he sold all of them and made an excellent profit. Some wanted them in "MINT" condition to resell others just wanted them to enjoy. :D

haven't received mine yet, arrived in town but being transferred to USPS from Fedex so it looks like at best tomorrow but still estimated tues. 26th...ugh. I looked up when PCGS will next be at a local show (long beach, ca.) in february. If I kept it sealed until then would I still be able to get a first strike designation, have the coa number on the slab and have the coa entombed also?

No smart post is fedex. The US mint fulfillment facility is in Menmphis, then hands the package to Fedex

They way I was told as long as you keep the box sealed and do not open the box the original receipt is inside the box with the coin. The grader will match up the ship date off the receipt inside and as long as it was shipped before the cut off date which will be late December. You get First Strike Designation. You can hold it for 1 Year you will still get 1st Strike Designation. Just DONT OPEN THE BOX!!!!!!!

I have to LOL at this! What's the point of having a 1st Strike if technically they all qualify for 1st Strike?

    Mine arrives tomorrow.

Is there any chance the mint keeps track of who, or, where these lucky 100 go? I'd think that would be prudent; due to the possibility of counterfeit sigs hitting the market...

If I were so lucky to hit the jackpot tomorrow, and open up golden ticket; what is the best way to ensure you have an authentic COA without sending to PCGS or NGC unopened?

I do agree it’s silly but it’s what PCGS Customer Service told me. If you accidentally open a box then your on the clock and the 30 days apply.
Then you have someone who wanted First Strike but they will learn the hard way if they miss the First Strike Cut Off Date.
