I missed my mail carrier today, so I have to go pick up my package tomorrow. I feel like Carly Simon's "Anticipation" is playing in the background while I'm watching a Heinz Ketchup commercial.

The coins look very, very nice. Hard to wait!!!

Just opened my two Stella’s and one 1919 Peace Dollar - wow !! The 1919 looks perfect, one Stella has great detail/Strike plus obvious ghosting and the other is just awesome- looks like it was made on a new planchet. (Pics are all the same Stella with different lighting )

Personally I prefer my overstrikes with no host showing, hopefully that's how mine arrive.

It’s hard to have nothing show if you use different over and under types. This is why Dan chooses Peace dollars for Peace dollars, Morgans for Morgans, etc.

He did do a private Stella striking that only had “Four” as the denomination, no units.

Over the run of 77 pieces, the production process evolved. I was attempting to minimize the appearance of the under-type (without melting them). Some were lightly broad-struck one or more times after the main over-strike. Doing so helped reduce the under-type artifacts. The first coin pictured was over-struck multiple times in succession, but all strikes were in collar. The second coin shown is an example of one that was lightly broad-struck out of collar after the main over-strikes. So the diameter of the second coin is slightly larger and it has some apparent doubling on some of the denticles.

Received my Stella today and there are multiple artifacts from the host piece. Unfortunately I prefer Dan's overstrikes with minimal to no traces of the host coin.

The Stella will always show some artifacts because the over-strike design is completely different than the host design.
But I think the piece explains itself well with the reverse legend "STRUCK ON A US ... $5 HALF EAGLE". As such, I think a person closely examining it would EXPECT to see some artifacts.

Anyway, if you don't like it you can certainly send it back for a refund. Or maybe sell it at a profit. I haven't seen any offered on eBay yet, so I don't know what one might got for there.

I just received a heavy (unsolicited) box in the mail with auction catalogs for some upcoming late-February & early-March Stacks-Bowers auctions.

I was surprised to see this "Carr" item as one of the lots in the Quarter Dollars section (session 8 March 1st):

I remember selling that New York state quarter drawing in 2001 or so. It was a "working drawing" where I was trying out different elements and arrangements. Someone put together that display by combining the drawing with other NY state quarter items.
