    jwitten - by special request.

The 2 Stellas I received had 1892 and 1898 under types.

I wonder if most will show so much of the host coin? His example on his site didn't. I have a few coming, hopefully I can have one each way!

I was surprised, and pleased, at the under type strength. Would buy a non-overstrike Stella, if offered.

Perhaps a Clark Gruber like the Winged Liberty?

  • 7Jaguars7Jaguars Posts: 7,444 ✭✭✭✭✭

Please don't use that design - we've been quite overloaded with Winged Liberty designs, both Dan's and the US Mint in the form of the palladium coins & not to mention the original dimes....

The idea isn’t to use winged liberty design but to issue a non-overstruck Stella as a Clark Gruber so overstriking isn’t necessary, similar to the Gaudens Fourty Dollar piece.

If you go through the 2 posts created for 2018 it shows the exact day orders were taken. How Dan picked last years coin. Pretty much everything. Dan is a busy guy I will go out on a limb that Dan might have the 2019 ones before Christmas or slightly after.

There is one on eBay that ends in 4 days. If you watch it maybe you might win it. Here is the description. Bid starts around 42. Bucks and nobody has bid on it.

2018 Daniel Carr KOTCT St. George & the Dragon, Color-Toned Copper, 39mm

Actually the obverse quality is not much different between "1918" and "1919".
The reverse of the "1919" over-strike is a little better than the "1918", especially in the area of the mound and the word "PEACE".

My stellas were marked as shipped Monday and I still don't have them :s Does Dan provide a tracking number? I couldn't find one. Also, does he ship registered if it is an expensive package? That's my only guess for the slow shipping time.

I usually don't provide tracking numbers unless the package is overdue and there is an inquiry.
Shipments with a gold Stella would be sent USPS Registered.

Jwitten mine had a tracking number but I never know ithe number. Did you by chance sign up to the Informed delivery. That is how I knew mine was coming in today. When I opened up the history it showed the town and state where the package originated.

If you email him he might give You the tracking number. Any of the more expensive packages it was delivery confirmation but I think it always come Priority mail.

I've tried to sign up for that before and for some reason could never get it to work. I don't mind not knowing what day it will get here. Each day has been like Christmas, going to the PO not knowing if I was going to have a couple new stellas waiting for me!

Funny thing I ordered the Stella on 12/29 and the slab on 1/3, the slab arrived from China on 1/24.

Love the self-slab. Have you thought of making a copy so the front side takes up the full space of the insert?
