Very Impressive collection there @Gluggo! Got my 1919 Broken Arrow Peace Dollars today -- they are drop dead gorgeous! Amazing work Mr. Carr. I'd post pics, but others already have done so. Can someone explain why none of these get a MS70 grade? I now need to catch up this set with the 1917 if anyone has some extras...PM me...
I've heard ANACS will give his original works a 70, but not any overstrikes that were made on original coins. Not sure why. ICG will though, as I have some.

They do get MS70 grades. I have dozens in MS70 but these are the only photos that I have handy at the moment. My 1919 Broken Swords are getting graded right now and I expect grades any day now. I have several 1917 & 1918 broken sword Peace Dollars graded MS70,

I couldnt let this one sit up on the "bay" so I added it to my collection. Another Carr MS70 Gold strike...makes me feel warm and fuzzy.
I'm presently grading a batch of Mr. Carr's issues. He must be very proud of the coins he strikes. IMO, the U.S. Mint should adopt some of his subjects and designs. I own a few pieces so color my opinion biased!

Good question.
MS69 is the highest grade I've seen from ANACS for fantasy overstrikes.
IMO, if the coin is perfect as made, it is a 70. Playing Devil's advocate, any problem with a planchet that shows on the finished coin could be considered a defect. That would include the overstrikes. Some of the coins in the order are getting 70's including the Pease Dollar overstrikes. Beautiful stuff!
So I bought my first Dan Carr coin today. I really don't know what the hell I'm doing sometimes, but I just thought this was too cool and obviously unique so I had to dive in.
Good for you KindaNewish I know they had your item here talking about it a few days ago! Nice job
I will post a picture of your item I am sure there are some who will want to comment! You know as far as did you over pay In my opinion is until you go to sell it you wont know. I am no expert on this particular item but it has a great presentation. In fact even Daniel Carr commented on your item.
I remember seeing on ebay about 20 years ago the original artwork for the Rhode Island quarter.
Now I have to find that and make a similar display to this one.
@KindaNewish ...... I think you have the rarer of all the coins being featured in this long thread One of A Kind indeed.
Congratulations! You did not overpaid IMHO for historical set ..... it will only worth more as Dan gets older

Anyone out there have a "MCMVI" Winged Saint-Gaudens GOLD "TWENTY DOLLARS" over-strike on Double Eagle for sale? Or on a gold .999 round?
You might want to post on the other “ Buy Sell Trade “ link here and advertise. Only 21 (correction) on the overstrucks, here is the stat
Not Carr's latest but my latest submission. 3 out of 13 came back MS70.

Only the 21 say "TWENTY DOLLARS" on the reverse. For the 19, read footnote 1 which indicates the reverse says "DOUBLE EAGLE".

I think somebody here posted the 2019 discussions on this years art and what you might want Akbeez feel free to comment while you still can. Who knows maybe your decision might be the way to go!
I dunno. Maybe too much of a good thing. Now there's, what, a hundred stars? If you keep the flag, nix the stars in the field...maybe go back to rays. Lady Liberty looks a little awkward holding up a staff and a pole. I like the shield...
Oh the dangers of decision by committee! Actually, I LIKELOVE the flag vs the shield. And agree with @renman95 with a rays preference over stars (said that before). But will buy either way!

Needs a bit more cleavage, but who am I (yes, a male) (come on now, who's with me?) (really now, isn't sexy hip??) (twas good in 1916/17 SLQ no?).
I support @jwitten 's concept too. SOOO many ideas! Oh if only we were all minters (is that a term?)

Dan, how about something like this in the future? I've been dying for this to get used, ever since they decided to go with a different design in 2015.
That design might be copyrighted (difficult to know for sure since it wasn't actually used, and it was created by an Artistic Infusion Program participant). Nice design, although I would do some things differently.

Yup, I'm tired of the Mint always making Miss Liberty less feminine and more androgynous. They did that to a really nice Platinum Eagle design a couple years ago (2016) and on top of that, they gave her face a masculine look.
What maroons.

Remove the shield and stars apply a drape going around her arm and waist with some small stars on the drape.
