    Ok somewhere I think in this thread was Dan Carr's "solution" recipe for removing unwanted toning. He even included a picture of which TarnX bottle to buy. Well I bought the bottle a few months ago but now can't find the post. I'd appreciate some help finding it. I've never done this before so I want make sure I get it right the first time

    Sorry to hear of that.
    There is an effective and safe way to mitigate the toning if you are interested.
    As long as they are not heavily toned, a "dip" type cleaner will take care of it, if used properly.

    I recommend this procedure:

    Get a black plastic bottle of "Tarn-X" silver cleaner (available at Walgreen's) or any similar "dip" type cleaner.
    Submerge the medal in the cleaner for about 15 to 30 seconds. Then rinse it completely under the tap (including the edges) and then pat dry with a clean soft cotton bath towel (never rub dry, only pat dry). This type of "dip" cleaning will not harm the luster (or even a hologram), so long as it is done properly. This will also work for relatively light toning on mint copper, brass, nickel, etc.

    You can re-use the cleaner on other medals and coins. But note that if you clean a lot of very dirty tarnished silver coins the cleaning solution will eventually turn yellowish. You can still use yellowed cleaner on silver coins. But if you put a copper piece in yellow solution, it can plate silver onto the copper.

    Well I following Dan's instructions and I'm happy to report all is well. I dipped about 60 of his coins and the most it took was 15 seconds. Most 5-7 seconds. Whew. The holograms had the most toning and those were a breeze as well.

    I have a lot of my Dan coins in Air-Tites. I've considered getting them slabbed but want to wait till I can take good pics since taking pics raw is easier than in a slab.

    I've "cured" gold coins with red spots in a similar manner, except that I left them in the solution for a longer period (10 minutes or more). 999 gold will not be affected by a lengthy "dip" in solution that is relatively fresh.

    Normally $12 ea on an economy submission but I always wait until they run a special and pay $10 ea.

    They have the specials several times a year.

    Ohh, gotcha! I ended up using the right side, so the middle and left are still connected, though the middle now has an open end. I am out of town, but will try to get a picture of it when I get back in a day or so.

    Looks like all of Dan's Lincoln cents are final mintage, some still available on Dan's site.

    The 2009-s copper plated Memorial Reverse has a final mintage of 37.

    Have I told y'all how much I love ANACS lately? This was a 3 coin submission, should get the grades on my other submission next week. I was thrilled to say the least to get two 70s on the 2017 Type 1and Type 2 Eagles.

    Just shows the quality of Dan's work.

    I got one of those and the 2109-S (47 mintage) and two of the 2009-S Wheat Cents (83 mintage).

    Dan cleaned house last night. All 2017 Clark Gruber pieces are sold out. Both Tiara's are sold out with only 46 made of each. Antiqued Whydah is also sold out with a mintage of 51. Looks like there might be some "tumbled antiqued" Whydahs coming soon. I wonder what the difference is in "antiqued" and "tumbled antiqued" ?

    The "tumbled antiqued" have more contact marks since they are literally tumbled (gently, but 999 silver is soft).
    Those were done on contract for a distributor. The mintage on them is relatively high compared to the other cobs. Also, the main design elements on the tumbled version are mirrored compared to the rest of the cobs (the ship is facing the opposite direction).
