I believe anyone with any math capabilities knew or assumed the TOTAL mintage of the 2017-S would be right around what is is and the price has reflected that.
..and re: price of the congrats set...yes the 69's are available for a steal. I just bought four for $85 each BUT the set itself is near $140...makes no sense but I will take advantage . I have plenty of empty Congrat set packaging

I thought it was up there, seeing that the price for these is not very high. I was thinking as a comparison, but with the mintage so high it cant be compared.

What is the difference between MINTAGE LIMIT and PRODUCT LIMIT? The mint has no limit on the mintage for this set but a 50,000 product limit. Wouldn't the mintage also be limited to 50,000 sets? I have seen on some sets that the mintage level was set at VARIOUS. (Boy's Town 3 coin proof set earlier this year)

The product limit refers to the specific packaging. The mintage limit refers to the coins. In this case, you've got more than just the ASE and those have no mintage limit. They mint them until demand runs out or the year runs out.

If you have JUST silver eagles, the mintage limit can still exceed the product limit. For example, if you imagine this set and the Congrats set were ONLY eagles, then the mintage limit would be 125,000 and the product limit (this specific packaging) would be 50,000.

The Boys' Town set is probably "various" because of different limits for the different coins.

Yes. Mint received all sorts of crap about it, since they didn't state it would be included in another set. This is why you find particular wording in descriptions now, like "only available in this set". And why the Mint made it clear when they released the Congrats set, that the 2017-S coin would be in the LESP set.

    edit because: I kant spel.
