I don't trust the Sox and refuse to get emotionally involved unless they make the playoffs, hopefully they can hold on. It's going to be tight

Offense is dominating right now. If they can get on a streak like this in the playoffs, they could go a long way.

George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.

Red Sox are on fire, all cylinders clicking.

I thought the Bluejays and Orioles would be much tougher games than they've turned out to be.

Looks like I may have been wrong and a bit premature on their obituary. Hopefully a few more wins against AL East teams will get them the title.

They still have a tough September, but gotta admit, they're looking pretty strong.

They are looking great right now. So many bats. And price/porcello both throwing very well. Could be a very dangerous team in October.

I also liked the heads up play by Betts taking home when the left fielder "fell asleep" getting the ball back into the infield.

George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.

    Craig44...

I live in Atlanta, so, get very little (if any) Red Sox games...once in a while MLB will show a game, but not recently. I'd rather watch the deer eat our flowers than watch the pathetic Atlanta Braves. Therefore, I haven't seen any key plays.

If the Red Sox can pull off another couple of wins, that may be cushion enough to get past the upcoming schedule.

I don't think they're out of the woods yet, but certainly looking very strong in all areas.

Mcmlv, luckily we get nesn up here so I get to see it all. Mookie rounded third and as the left fielder tossed the ball in to the infield, he took off for home and stole the run. A great heads up play that caught the O's napping.

George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.

I was watching MNFB and was able to have a small thumbnail in the corner from the "scoreboard" function to slowly see the changes.

Gotta admit, I've been pretty hard on them, but looks like they've come alive.

Scoring zero runs at home and worse yet, losing one run games will kill any team at this stage of the season.

At this point, I think the AL East is a toss up. The Jays have imploded, but the Orioles and Yankees could still pull it off. Red Sox need to "cowboy up"...quickly, and put some breathing room behind them and what's in their rear view mirror.

I saw a chart on MLB Network earlier that puts things into an interesting perspective. Assuming that the division winner will need to win 90 games to win the division, the teams need the following records to reach that mark over their final 17 games:

    Red Sox - 9-6
    Baltimore - 10-7
    Toronto - 11-6
    New York - 13-4

New York would have to play out of their minds and Toronto would have to get hot. The Sox and O's are the only 2 with a realistic shot imo.

We had company over last night after going out to dinner...but...shortly after they left, I hit the tube to see the 9th inning beginning. imageimage

A great comeback to say the least, it's not often you'll witness what happened last night. Clearly the comeback game of the season, and a KEY win, which certainly looked like a loser.

If you're a Red Sox fan and get NESN, or MLB tv and didn't see it, DON'T miss the highlights tonight...the game is on MLB.

Wouldn't you loved to have been the guy/gal in the bleachers who got HR's tater!!!!

Big, big win...congrats to the team.

What needed to happen for the Red Sox happened.

They've come from behind to win, or won outright. The Rays continued to be spoilers, though they're 20 games back, they are crushing the Orioles and Jays. The perfect combination of events to propel the Red Sox into a comfortable 3 game lead. This lead obviously gives them some breathing room should their win streak begin to falter.

A win against the Yankees tonight would be a 4 games sweep and a 5 game win streak vs the Yankee's 5 game losing streak.

The Orioles are next then on to the Bronx...I wonder how the Thursday night recognition of Ortiz will go over...by then, the Yankees should be out for the AL East title. Then comes the Orioles against the Yankees as the Sox take on the Jays. Interesting combinations, but things are going the Sox way, thus the importance of the 3 game lead.

What a day in Boston...The fish in Foxboro, the Yankees in Fenway...lots of lucky guys will be doing both!!

some ugly mistakes early so far (Xander picked off first by the catcher and then Leon unsuccessfully tries to get the runner at second on a sacrifice bunt). Not the mistakes to be made in the playoffs...which pretty much characterizes this type of baseball at this point in the season

Winning 8 in a row at this stage was COLOSSAL to say the least.

I could not have been more wrong about the Red Sox, I had them dead and buried about a month ago. Had they not made such an incredible come back to win 2 back-to-back 4 games sets, they may well have been toast.

Now on to the Rays, who have been giant killers, so they need to stay focused. The Orioles and Jays will be knocking each other out, and suddenly we're Orioles fans. The Yankees are still in the mix with an upcoming series against the Jays as well...they're not gonna lay down and may well take out any shot the Jays may have. Giants killing giants, with the Red Sox now in the rocking chair.

I'm glad they sat Moncada, strking out 12 for 19 is pretty dismal...maybe he needs to visit Rhode Island again. Benintendi looked a little squishy, but he did hit the key tater, so he gets a pass. Hey, even Bucky has awaken...the Timlin bus has been cancelled for him. The team is playing exceptionally well, even though Price made it interesting at one point, good fortune prevailed.

The Red Sox should cruise into the AL East title, but Cleveland awaits and beyond.

Do any of y'all Red Sox junkies know who owns the tiebreaker between TEX and BOS? I know the season series is 3 to 3 but I haven't evaluated all that other nonsense

    1) The team with the better record in head to head play

    2) The team with the best overall record in intradivision games.

3 The team with the best overall record in intraleague games.

    4) The team with the best record in the final 81 games of the

    season, ignoring interleague play.

    5) The team with the best record in the final 82 games of the season (provided the game added is not between the tied teams), extending backward until the tie is broken (Interleague games are skipped and ignored in this process.)

Ok, I finally found the intradivision records on ESPN. Was not having much luck getting expanded standings on mobile version of MLB. TEX was 46 and 28 with 2 games left BOS is 40 and 28 with 8 games left so I guess that is still up in the air for now.
