Is that like Spahn, Sain and pray for rain?

I remember that from my Boston Braves days.

maybe playing the Twins 19 times a year would help!

    Reality starts Tuesday!

I'm thinking Remy is headed to the door with his reduced announcing schedule. With the likes of Lyons and the Eck, perhaps Jerry is headed slowly but steadily towards the sunset. Is the fat lady warming up for the Remdawg?

I cancelled my MLB package...it just gets a bit addictive to watch night after night. If I don't have access, I can easily do other things.

They better figure out the pitching, too many runs given up.

Heading to the Gulf of Mexico for the 4th and my favorite resort/casino. Hopefully I get a Gulf view and can enjoy the show from the comfort of my room...the gambling will take care of itself, I normally do pretty well, mostly because I'm not greedy.

Sort out pitching and sort out bunting too.

    Have fun AL!

Thanks Paul. I really enjoy this particular casino...it's called the Beau Rivage and the nicest on the coast. While not as big, it's on par with Foxwoods.

They offer good blackjack rules and the atmosphere is very pleasing. We get offered 3 nights comped every month and my play allows for a nice allowance of $$ built up which I use to cover food costs. They have a pretty entertaining show this trip, kindofa lot of different acts that last about 1.5 hours...allowing a nice break from the casino.

Here's hoping you have a great 4th as well.

so it would seem that Eduardo Rodriguez was not the answer the Sox needed for starting pitching. Wright and Price are now solid. That's it. Porcello is a 5th starter in a 2 slot. What's the GM going to do about this?
  • pitbosspitboss Posts: 8,643 ✭✭✭
I sure don't know but he had better do something quick and it better be a good move.
  • pitbosspitboss Posts: 8,643 ✭✭✭
It just keeps getting worse and the games are getting harder to watch every day. E-rod looked terrible and the new guy last night was a disaster so I guess the new answer is to bring back the old disaster in Buchholz. Even if he works out ok that still leaves them a pitcher short. Good luck!

Watching night after night after night will make you crazy!! Like a day-trader, up, down, up, down, up, down...what's the point? Stop watching for a while.

I cancelled my baseball package because I found myself watching every game, which kinda locks up the tube for 3 hours. I support the team and root for them, but I'm not addicted.

The success or failure of the Red Sox doesn't impact my life not one scintilla.

Tons of stuff to do with life other than being obsessed by the performance, or lack thereof of this team.

  • pitbosspitboss Posts: 8,643 ✭✭✭
I will not stay home to watch them but if I am here I will put it on for background noise or if something interesting is happening but have no intention of sitting down with a big bowl of popcorn to watch it.
  • perkdogperkdog Posts: 30,656 ✭✭✭✭✭
I don't sit around and watch the Sox game after game regardless if they are winning or not. If they make the ALCS then I get seriously emotionally involved other than that I love the Sox and keep an ear to the action but that's it.
  • craig44craig44 Posts: 11,255 ✭✭✭✭✭
That's the beauty of baseball. It is like a soap opera. You can be in and out of it and pick right up on the action even if you have been absent for a few games.

George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.

  • pitbosspitboss Posts: 8,643 ✭✭✭
I saw the replay of that ninth inning and it was disgusting.
  • pitbosspitboss Posts: 8,643 ✭✭✭
The only thing keeping the Sox in it is the fact that all the other teams in the division are also losing.
  • craig44craig44 Posts: 11,255 ✭✭✭✭✭
Price tonight!! He's been great lately

George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.

  • pitbosspitboss Posts: 8,643 ✭✭✭
    He sucked tonight!
I am done watching them until they get their pitching straightened out.
  • BarndogBarndog Posts: 20,492 ✭✭✭✭✭
Four in the ninth (so far)!
  • BarndogBarndog Posts: 20,492 ✭✭✭✭✭
and Koji strikes out the side to nail it down! What a comeback
  • MCMLVToppsMCMLVTopps Posts: 4,840 ✭✭✭✭✭
One of the games I wished I'd seen...being down 6-0 and taking the win had to be exciting for them and the viewers.

I'm resolved to watching when I can catch them on 209 or 213 on Directv.

  • BarndogBarndog Posts: 20,492 ✭✭✭✭✭
I will go out on a limb here and say the Sox won't make a comeback tonight, down 10-3 with the Ranger still batting in the seventh image
  • pitbosspitboss Posts: 8,643 ✭✭✭
Glad I did not watch it as they can not keep overcoming these disasters. It will come to a point where they will just quit trying.
  • craig44craig44 Posts: 11,255 ✭✭✭✭✭
Oh Sucholtz. How I hate thee. Three runs in the first.

George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.

  • pitbosspitboss Posts: 8,643 ✭✭✭
The Sonoma nascar race was great today. Tony Stewart won it.
  • BarndogBarndog Posts: 20,492 ✭✭✭✭✭
perhaps the run is done? GM needs to do some work ASAP
  • pitbosspitboss Posts: 8,643 ✭✭✭
Either he needs to do something quickly and bigly, as Donald says, or they will end up with the first pick in next years draft.

I saw excerpts of the last 2 games and was not in the least impressed in what I saw.

    Has Timlins bus arrived yet!
  • BarndogBarndog Posts: 20,492 ✭✭✭✭✭
so now Rodriguez is getting regularly shelled too. Three awful starters, one sometimes good starter, and then there's Wright. It was fun while it lasted image
  • BarndogBarndog Posts: 20,492 ✭✭✭✭✭
won tonight. Doesn't give me "warm fuzzies" that they are back on track. Going to take some sustained good starting pitching for that.
  • MCMLVToppsMCMLVTopps Posts: 4,840 ✭✭✭✭✭
Tis only baseball my friend. No need to get in a twist over this up and down nonsense. I don't think they're trying to lose, they just lack pitching and in today's case offense.

One has to ask the question...does the winning or losing of games by the Red Sox impact my personal life on this rock? The answer is obvious.

    It is what it is.

I'm off to play poker with the guys...may the cards be with me.
  • pitbosspitboss Posts: 8,643 ✭✭✭
Look at the bright side guys, they are guaranteed to NOT LOSE TODAY!
  • MCMLVToppsMCMLVTopps Posts: 4,840 ✭✭✭✭✭
On the other side...they could fall to 3rd place if Toronto beats the Indians tonight.

  • bronco2078bronco2078 Posts: 10,227 ✭✭✭✭✭

Price is such a creampuff it's painful to watch. totally sackless

I feel like everyone was pounding on our other free agent signings as bad value and now this clown is doing his best to out suck them.

Then Farrell comes out and says oh he had great stuff today and at the same time Price says no i was really bad. What game was Farrell at? Maybe he was checking out some new female TV talent and got distracted .
  • BarndogBarndog Posts: 20,492 ✭✭✭✭✭
a lost season perhaps? I think there is time to fix things, but the GM will need to get on the stick

I think the losing is just in time to ensure plenty of people forego buying tickets to some games this summer
  • BarndogBarndog Posts: 20,492 ✭✭✭✭✭
    can they just DFA Suckholz?
  • pitbosspitboss Posts: 8,643 ✭✭✭
Gee, sorry I missed that slugfest tonight. I have not even looked at the box score . How many runs did our wonderful pitcher give up?
Where is that damn bus anyway?
  • Only pitcher to not give up a run (or a whole mess of them, for that matter) is an outfielder.

Kinda sums up the pitching situation this year.
  • BarndogBarndog Posts: 20,492 ✭✭✭✭✭
bright side, won today and Orioles have lost four straight. Right that ship with a couple new pitchers, please!
  • BarndogBarndog Posts: 20,492 ✭✭✭✭✭
would be great fun if the Sox could find a way to hold opponents scoreless in the first inning
  • BarndogBarndog Posts: 20,492 ✭✭✭✭✭
good recovery today after Porcello spotted Texas four in the first image
  • BarndogBarndog Posts: 20,492 ✭✭✭✭✭
way to go, Kimbrel! And I'm not talking about the ASG... zero innings pitched in the ninth, four earned runs. Love it when a pitcher can take the pressure off his team like that

man, you Boston fans need to get a grip. move to Cleveland, or better yet, stay where you are and root for a Team that seems to struggle..................all the time. you guys got spoiled by being at the top of the food chain for a few years. tell me, how do you sustain the Celtics not being a perennial contender??? as M.......Topps said, it's only baseball.

NBA basketball sucks. Crybabies more so than any other major US sport (about up there with soccer, but that's not a major US sport)
  • pitbosspitboss Posts: 8,643 ✭✭✭
My feelings exactly about basketball and soccer my friend.
Baseball is the biggest sport for me and that is where my heart is.
I just hope the Red Sox can hang tough this season.

    I'm baaaaaaaaaack.

For those who have waited patiently for the "casino report"...I spent the last 3 days at the Beau Rivage casino in Biloxi, MS.

Well, I'm not a slot player, buuuut, the wife hit a nice $1.8k jackpot on a $1 machine. Me OTOH made a small donation, as the bj Gods did not favor me with good cards. Large bets seemed very promising with 20 and the dealer seemed to make those 5-card+ 21s, or edge me by a mere 1 point. Part of the game. I lost a sweet $200 double down (total of $400), with a 4/6 vs dealer's 6, caught the face, dealer makes a 5 card 21. image

Came home with about $1k more than I left with, not bad. We had a good time.

As for the Red Sox...you gotta stop watching every game, like I said, it's only baseball.

Chicken & Beer ( aka Price and Kimbrel ) are going to cost us another season

  • BarndogBarndog Posts: 20,492 ✭✭✭✭✭
the two "minor" trades so far are a good sign. Addressed needs that HAVE to be satisfied. I think the trades are a good sign because they show a commitment to what ownership said early in the year, something along the lines of "it would be wrong to miss the playoffs in Papi's last year"

I do believe they are committed to giving Ortiz one last shot and will do what it takes to get him there. I expect the Sox to give up at least one major prospect in the pursuit of a starter.
  • pitbosspitboss Posts: 8,643 ✭✭✭
I think it will take more than one prospect to get a major trade done but I agree that it will get done.
