Ok replying to my own post! Will take that mean people are as sick of my fuzzy pics of commons as I am sick of posting them!

So I will just stick to the Big 3 and maybe an exceptional star or two going forward. You get the idea, the boxes have a lot of low pops with potential but all that really matters is the good stuff!

    So onto Box #4!

One thing these boxes don't lack are nice Seavers

So this sub was from the cards that I scanned above. The best of the bunch from the first four boxes. I subbed these without the Ryans and Hendersons. A little stingy on the Gem mints! I don't know, I think they're a little hard on some of these. The Yaz/Brock HL is nice though. And the Garvey.

I have to do better on the next batch.

    << <i>Only TWO 10's??? Ouch. >>

I know. Totally ridic. May have to reexamine some of those 9s.

I think I may be onto something with one of those 10s though!

Edit to add: Well I just looked the Brock/Yaz HL and it is not as rare as I thought. But 4sc has a BIN around $25 for a PSA 9. So the 10 is nice to have. Love that card too!

Well I guess everything but the Ryans and Hendus is just gravy anyways.

Great turnaround time and good grades overall from vending. I was hoping you'd hit a few more 10s from the scans. This looks similar to the 81s, always a beast to yield a 10.

    Thanks,

Sharp cards and good results overall~this set is much tougher than people think. Good luck with your next sub! A Rickey in PSA 9 would be sweet!

I think you did very well on your first submission. PSA 10's from this set is tough and to get two of them out of 41 cards is pretty nice. Good job
Looking for high grade rookie cards and unopened boxes/cases
  • NikklosNikklos Posts: 1,411 ✭✭✭
Thanks!! Definitely going to revisit a few of those 9s. Although I can't say the grading was too harsh. They gave a 7 to my fisheyed, too-tightly-cello wrapped 1975 Aaron from my horendously miscut cello box after all. I sent that in as a feeler!

As for the fast poppage, was certainly the fastest I've ever gotten on a monthly special. Maybe it helps if you primarily stick to one issue.

Impressive speed on the poppage. I'm guessing I used the same service as me with my most recent sub that is still awaiting poppage (20-day monthly special). My order was delivered 11/11/14, logged 11/14/14, poppage pending.

Wow...they must have missed the "0" in "50".
  • Some of those grades are fantastic! Very excited about the Yaz/Brock PSA 10 and a 10 Garvey is a great hit too.

Thanksgiving was kind of chaotic so wasn't able to post but thought I would update this thread, Wound up with six Hendersons in 10 vending boxes. One box had two. So that makes five whole boxes without a Hendu! Imagine the horror. I'd post pics but I mixed the Hendersons with a few that I already had lying around so I don't know what's up with what.

There were about 8 Ryans and 8 Roses in the boxes. Have a few subs on the fire and will post once they pop.

Am waiting to fill a renewal sub with all Hendu rookies! To that end, I bought three more boxes and will post the highlights! image

Question - is it all worthwhile to get this very nice Pryor graded if they aren't going to note the "variation" and may even deduct for print defect? Or better to keep raw?

    Would appreciate any thoughts.
