I guess Iowa State is really the giant killer. I didn't think TCU was great but I like them so sorry to see them go down.

How about Penn State remaining in the top six and running the table in impressive fashion. OSU manages to win out but not so impressively. OSU wins BIG Championship but Penn State ends up as number four to play Alabama. OSU is out. On second thought that is a bit far fetched.

Really enjoyable season so far. Made it to ND's season opener and a couple A&M games. Put a deposit down before the ND/USC game for ND season tickets next year. LIving in Texas will make for a long commute, but I'll have fun doing it and will add about 10 lbs throughout the season from Chicago style pizza
. The squad looks good so far other than the last few minute debacle against Georgia.

Thanks my friend. I finally finished law school, passed the bar, retired from a 24 year 1st career, and have been working as a lawyer for the Feds for a couple months now. After having been SO busy since 2013, I'm pretty much stress free now and enjoying the collecting (primarily graphs) hobby again. I hope to be around the various boards a lot more often like I used to be.

Will be fun to see where the rankings that count end up on Tuesday night. Will be the first chance to see what criteria this year's committee values.

    My Top 4

    1. Georgia
    2. Bama
    3. OSU
    4. Wisconsin.

Notre Dame almost got my #4 vote but Wisconsin is still unbeaten, not for long though. I bumped Georgia to #1 due to their win over ND at South Bend.

Despite all of the horror stories I heard about visiting the Shoe as an opposing fan, I really had a great time this past weekend despite the outcome. Majority of the OSU fans were great and really nice people. I had numerous OSU fans come up to me and ask if i was enjoying my time there, if anyone was giving me any trouble, and just welcoming me to town. Of course there was the occasional profanity yelled from a distance and I only had one real run in with an OSU fan (a drunk student late Saturday night causing problems), but that is somewhat expected.

The game was awesome, and I always love seeing a new stadium for the first time. I was not a huge fan of the Shoe in general. I found the concrete look quite ugly, especially since it looks like it needs power washed. But the entrance was awesome, with the cathedral ceiling and the stained glass windows. I was a little disappointed with the stadium atmosphere. They played next to no music throughout the game and the crowd was very quiet until about 5 minutes left in the game. Not sure if it was lack of enthusiasm by the fans or just the stadium acoustics.

Overall though I had a great time. The town was a ton of fun both Friday and Saturday night, the stadium was great to see, and the game was fantastic even though PSU lost. I will try to post some pics soon once I get them uploaded to my computer.

Great write up Orioles93. I've always have had fun there. However, Michigan fans do get treated a little different :#

Because it's an open end stadium it doesn't hold the noise in like some other venues

OSU and PSU just didn't have any left after last weeks game. Did Urban's blood pressure ever get above 60/40. I saw that look the last year he was at Florida. The Iowa fans had a blast storming the field. Iowa at Wisconsin will be interesting next week.

My team didn't look very good and we lost 2 linebackers for the year. LSU probably played their best game of the year. We have Miss State, then Auburn on the road and we will get their best shot. I'm not sure we can win the West.

Georgia vs Auburn is the game to watch next week, two teams that hate each other......It will be very loud.

Finally, the C'MON MAN of the Week goes to.........Arkansas. You had to score 14 points in the 4th quarter to beat.......COASTAL CAROLINA, a team that has won only one game? C'mon man !!!

Iowa could be responsible for keeping the Big 10 out of the final 4 if they beat Wisconsin. Should be interesting. Even if Wisconsin beats Iowa I am not sure they will make the final 4. No Big 10 and no Pac 12 in the final 4 is a strong possibility I would say as I don't think Wisconsin will beat Iowa, Michigan and the Big 10 championship. Pac 12 is already eliminated from the final 4. I have always been a proponent for the best 4 teams so I have no problem with that personally.

And here is Wisconsin's schedule coming into play. Win by 4 TD at Indiana and lose two spots in the AP. At least the coaches have them at #3. I've starting to feel that even if they win out the committee will find a way to leave them out. Ugghh.

Yeah Oklahoma and Clemson both had quality wins this week. I think Wisconsin will be #8 in the CFP ratings this week. Miami will be ahead of them. Iowa's win will help Wisky street credit wise as they are now ranked #25 after destroying Ohio State. They have Michigan after that at home as well. Michigan is #22 and as long as they don't lose at Maryland this weekend that will help as well. Michigan could easily lose to Maryland as that's a trap game . You don't want that. Of course you have to beat both Iowa and Michigan

Mark, agree with them being #8 in the next CFP. Certainly Miami will jump over them. Sconnie will do well to win these next two home games vs (25) Iowa and (21) Michigan. Going to be tough, but finally a chance to show what they have against some ranked, albeit low, teams. TCU has to go to Oklahoma and Notre Dame goes to Miami so they could pick up L's, but these would only strengthen Oklahoma and Miami further. The big boys also have road games vs ranked opponents with Alabama visiting AP #18 Mississippi State and Georgia travelling to AP #10 Auburn. So lots of big games this coming weekend, can't wait. At this point, it is very difficult seeing a B1G team making the final CFP Top 4. Big Red needs to win out and get help.

he seems to be the kind of guy that fits into the scheme that Urban Meyer likes to run, the read/option which I detest. past that, Ohio State just isn't really that good of a Team, at least not good enough to overcome interceptions, fumbles and penalties. earlier in the thread I mentioned four losses, that seems almost assured after Saturday.

  • coinkatcoinkat Posts: 23,107 ✭✭✭✭✭

I just do not see Michigan losing to Maryland. As for the rest of the Big Ten, it's looking grim with Wisconsin being the last hope of a chance at a national championship. And maybe as unusual as this may sound, perhaps this team has been pacing themselves... Doing the minimum to win and skating by with little fanfare saving what will be required for their critical games against Iowa and Michigan down the stretch

  • JustacommemanJustacommeman Posts: 22,847 ✭✭✭✭✭

My concerns for Michigan are this:

    1) They play Wisconsin the following week and maybe looking ahead

    2) It will be their new freshman QB's first road game

    3) Maryland's head coach was Harbaughs DC at Michigan

Michigan will not be caught looking ahead as a loss Saturday would cement a season of disappointment. I suppose some would argue that fate has already been determined.

The freshman QB will be fine in his first road start... No real concern there.

The real story will be the next two games... A trip to College Park should be a character builder before playing the Badgers and ending with the Buckeyes. Splitting the last two may be as good as it gets but winning both would be enough to climb back into the top twenty and perhaps meet up with a SEC team in a Bowl game

garnett, please don't waste bandwidth trying to defend OSU, they aren't really that good this year and Barrett is a lot of the problem. he is too inconsistent and there doesn't appear to be an option. we are stuck with him for the remainder of the season, just hope, please, that they only suffer four losses.

Bama has lost 4 linebackers this season for the year. Miss State will give us their best shot Saturday and then we have Auburn after y'all. I don't know if we'll win those games or not, going to be tough, both on the road.

Wow, Wisconsin - that defense! Iowa gets 66 total yards. Their two scores came on pick sixes. Mark, do you think this one will do much for their street cred? I'm not so sure, perhaps if they can back it up next weekend vs Michigan.

It's a good win but you have to admit Wisconsin has a dream conference schedule. No OSU, No Penn ST, no Michigan ST and their two toughest games are at Camp Randall. ( Iowa & Michigan). Plus they played the weakest non conference schedule period.

I think they move up two spots to #6

I think Wisconsin could land anywhere from 5 to 7. Six if Georgia stays ahead of them and potentially seven if the committee really like Auburn. They have two losses but a win vs the CFP #1. Agree for sure about their schedule and it may be that which ultimately keeps them out of the final Top 4. The two B1G divisions are so unbalanced.

    Now....

This could be a good thing. UGA wins the next 2, wins the SEC, then gets the playoff 'in'. Might be the best loss week of the season.

Don't feel bad, we're next. Auburn is going to whip our butt in two weeks and y'all will get your rematch. The polls will say we're #1 but we are far from it. Auburn, Oklahoma, Miami and Wisconsin are playing very well right now.
