    Hi,
Tom Brady- Did you find your game-jersey?
James White- Did you find the game-winning football?
and Congrats to whomever paid 100K or so for a cheeto that resembled a zoo gorilla.

I'd be curious to know the cert number and what it comes back as.

It did not cross to a 9...left unholdered.

You see why people are skeptical of you, right?

Good luck with your resubmission to SGC. I hope it gets back into the 96 holder it was in previously. Not the EXACT same holder...because that would mean you never cracked it out....i kid i kid,

Very sorry to hear about the Thurm card. I /we would love to see pics of the Maris and Rose cards and I would be interested in the '63.

I successfully cracked out 3 walnuts yesterday afternoon. They will not be going to PSA as they wound up being sprinkled atop a wonderful arugula salad with beets for dinner.

I'm sure mike will show up soon to chastise you. Unless they were vending walnuts.

  • Bummer on the Munson. Enjoyed the vicarious ride through this thread though.

Swing for a homerun and what a glorious homerun it would have been. Now, people will always be looking back at this thread for comparison before purchase of a 71 Munson to be sure it isn't "that one" imo since there hasn't been an explanation as to what happened with the submission. No guts no glory they say.

QUITE shocked op did a one and done raw psa sub attempt. especially w/ previous displays of juevos.

...for it's one, two, three strikes youre out at the old sub game*^

*granted not at the "walk thru" level.

^ walk thru woulda been my third and final attempt, after a 5 or 10 day "estimated" turnaround.

original ballsy crackout into an auth holder, crackout, back to sgc. then resub to psa in hopes of another crackout/crossover? yowzas.

fun hanging to watch this all go down,
but too much crack for me.

kinda reminds me of tyrone biggims $100k crack party. quit expensive.

sincere wishes though on eventually turning this thing into a smile for ya.

If the card gets back into a SGC 96 holder I think I would submit it to PSA in the SGC slab.

then i officially alter my too much crack banter to just a premature-smidge much...

any reason not to just resub in a few weeks/level or just under a new/diff acct?

  • vols1vols1 Posts: 793 ✭✭✭

The OP said he selected 'no minimum grade threshold' for Munson. And it didn't even make it into a holder. So whatever the issue was, it's not going to change in a couple of weeks.

  • mintonlypls, thanks for sharing your adventure. Hope that you eventually land this bad boy in the holder it deserves one day!

I am too much of a wimp and probably would have tried for a crossover with min grade 8. If I got an 8.5 or 9, then wonderful. If I got an 8, then submit for a review once every 6 months until I get my 8.5 or better.

Just to point out--this couldn't be further from the truth. Many submitters regularly turn minsizerq or N5 altered stock or MC cards into holders. I always try 2-3 times with same company and once with an outside one if that fails, but with 3 or 4 tiers it rarely ever fails success of eventually being holdered. Fact is every card is deemed trimmed or below factory specs at PSA until proven otherwise. All this plays into why a re-submission often provides new results.

For the O.P.'s card the only reason PSA won't give it a fair shake immediately is because of the rareness of that shape of card from 71 and munson's rc. If it were any normal $250 psa 9 or something you could send in with the very next submission the next day and get a fair shake. He would have to wait a few months.

It is true. Life as experienced by subjects is subjective. We need to get to work on fixing that asap

    subjectively, of course.

This subject's subject was an object that was subject to a review that was subjective. We wish it was objective. Prospectively, we can anticipate the object being subjected to more subjective reviews until the OP gets the grade that he believes is objective. Regardless, it is all subjective.

And yes, please post scans, before and after, preferably, on the other two.

I'm reminded of a time about 30 years ago when someone showed me a '71 Munson that he had touched very lightly with a black magic marker to hide the white chipping. I was horrified but he was quite thrilled he'd be able to sale it as mint. I've never bought a '71 for this very reason. I'm not saying this happened here.

Let me be the first to say that those two cards are beautiful! That Maris is a 9! Been on my list for a long time. Mmmm.

psychump...PSA was very hard on that card. Very minor chipping visible only under magnification. If it had a white border at the bottom of the card...it is in a 9 holder.

I do love the 71's but how and the hell can this card be worth so much more then his actual rookie card. Will the 71 continue to pull the 70 up in value?

My guess is population, popularity of the set and the fact it's one of the best ever action shots on a baseball card.

Must be more because of low population, otherwise the Blyleven rookie and other hof cards in the set would be worth more.

I'm amazed someone paid $20k for that card. It really appears to be miscut though a bit hard to know for sure with the reflections in the scan. The back certainly would bother me.

  • OP's Munson looks so much nicer than the borderline miscut PSA 9 that just sold on Ebay. Keep trying mintonlypls!

Send it back in. I once cracked a PSA 8 and sent back to PSA - EOT, cracked and sent to SGC - 88, cracked and resent to SGC - 92, sent back to PSA in the holder for crossover and for the first time I received a crossover bump - SGC 92 to PSA 9. Remember these grades are an opinion, if you believe the card is worthy of a 9 holder, keep trying until you get the opinion you agree with.

I have done similar and have suggested to keep trying but I think with a card of this value and rarity he should probably wait at least a year.
