It would appear that the final mintage of the original silver is 94.
I have a few more to mint so as to fill orders that came in before I discontinued sales of it. "94" is listed as the current mintage, but that is not final yet. There are about 10 to 15 more of the silver version that will be made. Mintage of the "BRASS" version is final (at 68), but that product is still available until current inventory is gone.

Just ran across this Dan Carr wearable medal from the 2017 Denver Comic Con. This shares an obverse design with the 2018 Amero. As a So-Called Dollar collector, it's nice to see a wearable medal.
@dcarr This looks cool. Did anyone wear them at the con?
I looked for these on the Moonlight Mint catalog but couldn't find them there. I'm curious how may were made and if all the ribbons were the same color or not.
I wore a different one at Comic-Con. I have the parts to assemble some more of these wearable medals. I've been meaning to wrap them up and make catalog entries for them. I'll try and do that in the next few months.
I like 'em ! Hope that mine will be arriving soon. Thanks for the great images. I wonder what 'replacement product' Daniel is planning for the discontinued silver Saint Gaudens ???

Mine came in today's mail. 1918 Peace Dollar and St Gaudens silver. Very pleased!
I'm guessing the replacement product has "999 Silver" inscribed on the edge -- not stamped on the Reverse side. But whatever the change(s), I expect enough improvement that I'll want another.

Which one would be the better one to buy?
1. "1918" Peace Silver Dollar "Broken Sword" over-strike, High Relief, WW1 100th Anniversary Sold out on the other one so I missed that one or?
2. "1907-D" Saint-Gaudens Winged Liberty, 999 Silver Concept, 1 troy oz. its a bit cheaper just wondering what the Professional Dan Carr buyers think? These 2 seem like their special in their own way buy I want more dont know which one to buy!!!! TYIA
1918 for sure. His nice overstrikes usually do better than his "creations". I'm not sure if the resell value will be hurt by creating too many of the broken sword peaces, only time will tell. I think he posted at one time he wanted to do one more date of them after this.
Next year there will be a "1919", and the year after that "1920". Both of those will be "Broken Sword" over-strikes. Also in 2020 I might do a "1970" over-strike (normal reverse) because that will be the 50th anniversary of the supposed test strikes of 1970-dated Peace Dollars that were made by the US Mint (and then destroyed) for the purpose of testing large dollar copper-nickel clad pieces (in preparation for the 1971 Eisenhower dollar).
Then in 2021 it will be the 100th anniversary of the last Morgan Dollars and the first Peace Dollars. I might do a "MCMXXI" roman-numeral Peace Dollar over-strike. But my main objective for the Morgan and Peace anniversaries is to do 2-oz 999 50mm silver rounds in a format similar to this:
but with wording similar to this:
After that, I think I'll be done with Peace Dollars since I'll have made almost as many different dates of Peace Dollars as the US Mint
Or maybe I'll add one more - a "1936" proof to go with a US Mint 1936 proof set.

It may be nice to do the Saint Gaudens piece in silver and brass like this with a border so they don't need to be counterstamped and you can keep the denomination.
Just received these two today. It's obvious that the host coin for the 1918 Peace is a 1922. I am not sure I am happy with the dings to the last two digits of the date. The "8" is even flattened at the bottom due to a hit or the strike.
I think it makes quite an interesting example ~ 1918 over 1922 ! The 'dings' appear to be the result of the overstruck numerals in the date. I would be happy to have it. If you decide you don't like it, send me a PM. Still looking forward to the pending arrival of my order.

Shoot yeah, I like it. Maybe I'll get lucky and get one with my order which should arrive this week.

Yes, that is correct. Technically, those are not "dings" on the 8. That is the remnants of the underlying 2 showing through.
Wow. I haven't seen a single 1917 with ghosting due to the high pressure of the HR strike and/or maybe how Dan prepped the host coins. @dcarr, did something change with the 1918 or did I just not look at enough 1917's? I also notice that you've all but obliterated the slight concentric rings from the CNC machine. Nice

Some of the "1918" over-strikes were prepared differently than before. Those tend to show the underlying digits more. For the most recent (and future) production of "1918" over-strikes, I use the "1917" procedures.
No. The replacement product(s) will not have the counter-stamping on the sun rays.
Great idea. I felt that was the only unattractive part of the coin.Mine was a strong strike on the left side of the word silver fading to a weak strike on the right side. Looking forward to adding the redesigned one to my collection.
Ohhh some one beat me but still! New Daniel Carr Silver Coin out!
The new USS Colorado SSN-788 submarine is scheduled to be commissioned in March 2018.
USS Colorado silver "Patriot" coins made by Daniel Carr are available from the
USS Colorado (SSN-788) Commissioning Committee website
Portion of Tiara "appears" to be clashed on the "E" in PEACE. Should be a few more of these out there...be sure to check!
Thanks Dan!
Correct me if I'm wrong, but there are no rays on the exact opposite side of that. They do not appear to go that close to the rim.
Heck if I know- just best guess. Maybe Dan can chime in.
Once I install the dies in the coin press, I don't move them for every strike. I try to line up the obverse as close as possible for each over-strike. But the reverse of each host coin can be rotated in relation to the obverse. So the reverse-side over-strike can be off if the host coin has a slightly rotated die (which is often the case - the US Mint was not entirely consistent with that). So the lines seen on that coin are some of the original sun rays showing through.
Very interesting. Lessons learned in how coins are made! I have a few 1918 Peace's incoming and am stoked to see what die varieties arrive...the hunt is on!

Those winged Liberty's sure are pretty.

One of the 1918's I received today has some ghosting on the date as well. I think it's neat, so don't mind it.

Discontinued - replacement product soon
Is the replacement product the same?
No. The replacement product(s) will not have the counter-stamping on the sun rays.

Broken Sword-Clashed Peace.

They do also look like the rays on the reverse...not sure how they'd end up over "E" though....that's why I thought was from clashed dies.
One of my 3 exhibits this detail at E in Peace.
I thought the reverse die rotated a bit between strikes.
That's cool if its some kind of die variety.

Need to add VAM entries now
They're called DAMs
Or perhaps DCAMS
I think those disturbances on the date are marks of some sort and not ghosting.
no rays on the reverse but disturbances on the 8 and ghosting in the field around the 1.
I notice there was an attempt to overstrike a double eagle with the winged liberty design.
is anyone else down for 1 of those overstrikes?
I am down what do have to do?
it was just a survey to check interest
more people, cheaper.
Depending on price, I would be interested in a gold version
I'm in.
