What Nike should have done was go through with the sneaker release but with say a $20 mail in rebate which they could have marketed as reparations.

Why knew that Kaepernick is now the vice president in charge of marketing and product development at Nike? It's good to know. Perhaps CEO and Chairman of the Board are in his future. Glad I'm not a stockholder.

With Kap it has been a moving target. Early on he cited a number of reasons for his protest including both 2016 presidential candidates. Those Hamiltons piling up in his wallet are not an issue though.

Or maybe... now stay with me here, Jon... you could understand that the freedoms you fought for in Vietnam are every bit of his to enjoy as they are yours and mine, regardless of how repugnant you may believe them to be.

Suggesting someone be deported for having views opposed to yours is a very dangerous, beyond slippery, slope.

Personally, I loathe the 4th of July for one basic reason: fireworks. The asshats around here started firing off the illegal ones a couple weeks ago, and they’ll continue for at least another couple of weeks. The “sky booms” terrify my animals, and that straight pisses me off. Imo it has not a damn thing to do with being patriotic. It’s nothing more than drunken beta males trying to prove their manhood by making loud noises.

I don't care for all the fire works either...…..it scares my dogs also. It's not "My views" he is dissing. It's our Country and what it stands for that he is disrespecting. I didn't go to Vietnam and lose a cousin along with 55,000 other Americans so this dirt bag POS can do what he is doing!! :s

I find it odd and more than a little concerning when I see men who obviously love their country openly advocating for an American citizen to move to countries that support terrorism and wish this country great harm. I know y'all don't like Kaepernick, what he did, and what he stands (heh) for, but your disregard/hate/contempt for him exercising his rights as an American citizen seem... extreme.

It's also concerning that many of you actually believe he hates this country, simply because he sees and believes things from a different perspective than you do. I'd bet that some of you feel that way about me, since I've been so vocal about social justice as it concerns sports. But it's because I love this country that I feel and speak the way I do. To me, that's no different than what Kaepernick is doing.

What about oil produced by some countries unfriendly to the US or our allies. Sorry but it's possible to become a little bit too neurotic about it.

China has nuclear missiles pointed at us. I doubt if there are too many people in the US who haven't bought some made in China item within the past year.

All that being said, I walk the walk. When shopping, I always look at the labels, etc, and try to buy as little Chinese made items as possible. Unfortunately, sometimes there are no alternatives to made in China, particularly with certain types of electronics. However I will and do pay more for various products made in the USA or by our allies over similar lower cost Chinese made goods. Much of which from China are junk anyway.

I understand how you feel about him, Jon. I really do.

I know this is probably rehashing comments you made last year or the year before, but I don't have the patience or desire to wade through all the pages of this dumpster fire. So how would you suggest he express his views, because there are a great many people, including veterans, who don't feel that he disrespected either Flag or country. Again, I understand why you feel that way. So how would you have done it if you were mixed race and had a platform like his, in a way that maximized his (your) message? Put yourself in his shoes if you can, even if just a little.

I wrote my comment after Kaepernick doubled down on what he has already done. He stated that, "the Fourth of July is yours not mine," and followed it with an out of context Frederick Douglas quote. He really does not like this country, and if he's that unhappy, he should actively look for a place which is more to his liking if such a place exists.

I have a potential answer to this. He could have made his positions and demands known, and then refused to answer any football related media questions until certain demands are met. And then other players could have joined in across the league. Extrapolate that out.

Well in a way...when you watch your favorite team on TV, wearing all the Nike gear, you are kicking in the 5 bucks to kaps bank account. Difficult to escape the mayhem.

    Thant's MORE than a stretch......GET REAL!

Well no, Dimeman, it is not a stretch at all. It is easy to gripe on an online forum about an ex player being a jerk (which he is.) Another thing to walk away from the team that we love as they are affiliated with the rogue characters.

Either step up to the plate or head to the bench. You can't spend your life in the on deck circle.

    Now I am vomiting.

    I need a break.

The Fourth of July celebrations as we know them would not exist without China.

Geordie, I have stated all along that you and I are worlds apart the way we view things, I’ve also stated that I don’t dislike you and I pretty much know your a good person, I “Eye Roll” your comments and believe that you probably think I’m a bad person, which is fine either way for me. That being said I do hate Kap and if I met him in person I would tell him how I feel and probably be very rude to him so he would understand how much I hate him. I have no problems with people white or of color that want social injustices fixed but Kap has taken it to an offensive level for me. The guy is a trouble making ignorant piece of crap worthy of getting forced out of the USA for a variety of reasons in my opinion, he is UN American on so many levels and that’s how I feel. You can think that’s odd, concerning or whatever I really don’t care. As I’ve also said before I know I’m not for everyone. 🇺🇸🍻

I have a potential answer to this. He could have made his positions and demands known, and then refused to answer any football related media questions until certain demands are met. And then other players could have joined in across the league. Extrapolate that out.

In the first place social injustice has nothing to do with Football. He picked the wrong place and time to make a stand on something. Disrespecting the Country and Flag is NOT the way to go! And yes, that is what he is doing. Another thing on the Police picking on people of color is just a smoke screen. I'm sure there are some bad cops and they should be singled out and dealt with. But I would say we are probably talking about less than 1% of LE being bad. I wish I knew the link to a great video by a young black man that I found on the net awhile back. If everyone had his insight on things we would not have any problems. Just one of his many statements was "if you don't want to be picked on...….don't ride around in cars making trouble"! LE people react to things from past experiences.
