    Tabe
I think it is fair that Lundquist has lost a few steps and it was probably a good time to go (unfortunate when announcers hang around too long) but Nessler is workmanlike and professional -not someone I look forward to calling a game.

    Bowl games in 2 days.....................

Appalachian State and Toledo play Saturday in my hometown of Montgomery Alabama.
Me and my boys are going to stand behind the Toledo bench and holler Roll Tide and Go Michigan..... >:)

You could yell "Go Buckeyes" too and you'd likely get the same reaction. Players at MAC schools don't give a rats *%^# about the Buckeyes.

Regarding the fans, due to Toledo's geography they are pretty close to a 50-50 town regarding OSU v Michigan fandom.

Have fun at the game. I love App St as a Pick 'Em.

I decided to change my pick to North Carolina, considering Stanford's best player decided he doesn't want to support his teammates and not play.

Proving yet again that outside the major bowls and playoffs that the tertiary Bowls don't matter. Fournette is sitting out his bowl game as well.

I am disappointed by these guys not playing in the bowl games. It makes it impossible to predict winners. Luckily I don't gamble on sports so doesn't really matter. In a few years will they stop playing during the season once they are out of the playoffs? Time to blow up the bowls and tie it all in to a big playoff system. The top 64 teams are IN. Nobody can complain! What would that take, 5-6 weeks?

Every now and then, the lesser bowl games can be fun to watch. Tonight's Poinsettia Bowl (BYU vs. Wyoming) was great. It was a good, competitive game. I personally like the large amount of bowl games. It gives you a chance to watch a great number of teams that you normally wouldn't ever see play. I'll never complain about more college football to watch.

Agreed orioles. I love bowl season and the lesser bowls are often better than the major bowls.

I am looking forward to a few games on Friday. Louisiana Tech vs. Navy & Ohio vs. Troy will both be good games. I enjoy watching these types of games. Navy is still ranked 25, and Troy was actually ranked for 1 week not long ago. It's not like these are bad football games to watch.

Add another player to the sitting out his bowl game list. Baylor running back Linwood said he will not play in their bowl game.

Washington States high powered offense didn't look to high powered tonight. And to think Washington State was supposedly one of the Washington Huskies "quality" wins.

I'm quite shocked considering Minnesota had a depleted defense with all those players suspended. I wonder how much Washington state was favored by?

I guess that's why they play the games. Wazzu was looking good for much of the season and Mel Kiper has been talking up their QB. I suspect it was more an off night. Either way I am excited to see if Washington can keep it close against Alabama. One of the commentators on ESPN pointed out that Brownings numbers were much better earlier in the season than late. So in total his numbers look great but they have been trending down.

I am a Kansas State grad so the win over A&M certainly made me happy. A&M has a ridiculous amount of talent but play like a box of mismatched parts that don't work well together. Afraid that Sumlin may be in trouble...

As for my team, it was a good win and we should build on it for next year. Only lost three or four senior starters.

Looking forward to games on Saturday. For the bettors in the crowd, I like Clemson and the points for whatever that is worth...

Jabrill peppers not playing at the last minute due to an injury. then hiding in the press box instead of encouraging his teammates, doesn't pass the sniff test.

Turned it off when it was 17-3... My mistake. Tough game for UM to loose. However, not getting a touchdown in the first quarter with that punt fumble recovery was painful to watch.

midway through the OSU/Clemson game and I'm left with two thoughts:
    1. I fully expect OSU to be shut-out.
    2. after a month to prepare, I am surprised at how wholly unprepared the OSU offense seems to be. certainly the Clemson defense is good, but the Buckeyes(or perhaps I should say their Offensive coaches) seem to not know what they are doing. I assume the Team had film to study and time to prepare, but I may be mistaken. three-and-out is all I see.

  • breakdownbreakdown Posts: 2,130 ✭✭✭✭✭

Two dog games. Very surprised by Ohio State effort in this game. Their defense actually hung in there for quite awhile but the offense was awful.

You are correct in stating that the Big Ten has closed the gap on the SEC but the is still a gap none the less. I will contend that the ACC is better then the Big Ten and the PAC 10 & the Big Ten are on par.

I don't see any evidence that the ACC is better than the Big ten.

Do you need anymore more evidence after watching all the Bowl Games so far?

I didn't expect Ohio State to show so poorly tonight. Oh well.

Props to the ACC for a strong bowl season.

Interested in seeing Penn State v. $C. Very unimpressive bowl season for my Pac 12 so far.

Alabama v. Clemson looks like it should be a good game.

Hey mark bowl games don't make the whole season. Big ten still has three games left on Monday. Ohio state is the only big ten team to have a bad game. Their first time getting shutout in a bowl game since 1920. Maybe this will finally be Clemsons year.

Happy New Year to you Garnett. You know I'm just messing with you OSU fans.....btw, when we do lose our next game I know I'll catch hell. I'll hear it 24/7, 365 days of the year from Auburn fans at work. They live for us to lose.

    Until then, call 911

  • BullsitterBullsitter Posts: 5,659 ✭✭✭✭✭

I picked Florida, Wisconsin, Oklahoma and USC winning their games. USC and Penn State should be a good one. I don't know enough about Clemson to pick our game yet. Bama opened as a 7 point favorite and it could drop, I think 7 points is too high. I think we're dead even and if we don't get our offense in gear we'll get beat.

On the Bama game, Washington came to play and their fans were louder than ours. They were better than I thought they would be and played hard. I talked to some Bama fans that were at the game and they said the Husky fans were a classy bunch.

No question Big 10 is the best all around conference this year. Who is second? One friend suggested ACC is best. I don't agree but maybe ACC is second!? SEC third, then Big 12 and then Pac!? Interesting conversation anyway.

Unrelated to that U$C and Penn State are running up and down the field in the Rose Bowl. Scoring like an old WAC game in the 80's.

  • garnettstylegarnettstyle Posts: 2,143 ✭✭✭✭

Big ten was only favored in three bowl games, so they held serve.

ACC won the most games for a change, but really wins over Vanderbilt, Kentucky, temple, and Maryland are not what I call impressive.

Big ten might have been deepest conference but they held serve? Ohio state and Michigan were both favored and lost. Nebraska got beat by a weak Tennessee team, Iowa got blown out by Florida. Northwestern has the most impressive win for the conference so far. Penn State might help if they can win the Rose Bowl.

I think the bowl season suggests that the conferences were pretty even this year. Big 12 and ACC are doing better than expected . SEC by their standards is having a down year but I still wouldn't want to play in the SEC West.

Penn State beating the spread is a "win" for the Big 10 I suppose!? Geez, what a choke job.
