One or two minutes later The Dude writes the 69 cent check at Ralph's, he watches George H.W. Bush give the "This aggression will not stand" press interview live on TV. President Bush gave the interview on the White House lawn on Sunday, August 5, 1990, 3 days after the Iraqi Army invaded Kuwait. The Dude's check, however, is dated September 11, 1991, indicating that The Dude is so broke, that he had to post-date a 69 cent check by over one year. Lol Killing me...

In my college days people often came to lectures in PJs and/or bunny slippers! Though for the past twenty years or so (and I've seen them on my way to and from my local grocery store) it makes me cringe at all the people who insist on sagging their drawers (especially the shirtless ones; ugh!). Now THAT is something we can really do without.
I have sat out the past few years due to very curious gifts sent my way. I am willing to do it this year. One thing I always thought would work was to assign different $$ levels to the SS. For instance if there are people who want to send $100 gifts match them up. That way the disappointment of receiving something not in line with what you sent would be eliminated. I know it's all about the Christmas spirit and all--but if you send $200 and get crap--it takes a lot away.
I have never participated here after this happened to me at another site. I bought specific items from his want list. He sent me 3 cards from his for sale list that had nothing to do with what I said I collect.

WTB threads, often in multiple, of the most off the wall items and are continually re-bumped. Most average collectors have never heard of or come across any of them in their collecting lifetime, so why not keep asking!
Gotta love the only pics they can take of their "centered" cards are all at some weird angle on their kitchen countertop or held in their greased hands...to maximize the narrow border and minimize the broadest border.....we won't catch on..
I've asked for new pics taken from directly "front on" to gauge the centering.....and they still send new pics taken from different new angles...darn, fooled again...

I honestly think this is mostly done to avoid the glare from a flash. Another reason I much prefer scans over photos.
agree that maybe some, but you don't need the extreme degree of angles to avoid a glare...a slight tilt will usu do the job........and its difficult to believe the coincidences when its not perfect but states that it is centered, then the pic doesn't support it.......also, somehow on perfectly centered cards they manage to take a straight on shot....without the glare...or put the glare on the flip.....just a peeve

Just saw a listing where seller adds at the bottom of description;
"Due to non paying bidders, non-paid auto case OPENS TWO DAYS after auction ends. Per ebay policy is allowed. Complain to EBAY, not me."
As a long time "ebayer", (both as a seller and buyer) I simply can't believe ebay does this. I usually pay immediately, but sometimes I don't. Five to seven business days should be allowed to pay on ANY listing before a case can be opened.
If ebay is going to do this, they should at least note it BOLDLY so I can avoid these auctions if I can't pay that fast, or if I just must have the item, I know not to wait.
I really love the sellers blaming ebay for their decisions, as if they don't have a choice to decide when an auto case is opened. Two days is ridiculous, do they ship me the item overnight?
Plenty of jerk buyers out there as well as sellers. This two day auto-case option $ucks.

+1, have won snipes on Friday evening while out for the weekend and had cases opened by the time I got home on Sunday. It's not even two business days.
1. Ebay seller is selling a high dollar card, but with only a front side pic. As a potential buyer, I msg the seller to see the back side pic because I am attempting to determine condition before making an offer or bidding. I get a response like, "I said it was mint, you do not need to see another pic" or "i now have to get the card out of my bank's safety deposit box, do you really need to see the back?"
2. As a seller, any potential buyer referencing vcp or past ebay sales at a card show.
oh yeah, experienced this today, waiting in line a the post office to drop off high end insured cards....and guy in front of my argues with the check out lady about the current prices of stamps...as if the check out lady makes stamp pricing policy decisions.
A few additions/ramblings as I work on my PSA sets (which is an enjoyable hobby in spite of below) --
Pop Tarts -- Doesn't work for me.
One Card in Multiple Sets -- Ridiculous. One card in one set. Make a choice. Things would be a lot more interesting. PSA would have more cards to grade as well....
Digital Album -- Can you imagine showing this to a non-hobby friend? They'd run.
PSA Board Sales -- They really need to upgrade this. Absurdly slow and cumbersome. I go right to eBay. eBay/PayPal takes about 8 to 12% on every sale. A PSA card can sell over and over in the secondary market. It's a big market that PSA is handing to eBay. Have to believe they're working on this. Would rather support PSA here but time is money...

All of these are sports-related pet peeves. After I post my list, I will open the front door and yell at the neighborhood kids, "GET OFF MY LAWN!!"
* basketball: after a free throw, whether it's made or missed, the shooter is compelled to slap hands with his entire team. This has been going on for many years, and I hate it - it's completely unnecessary and slows the game down.
* football: players acting like they've done something earth-shattering when they make a tackle, sack the QB or catch a ball for a first down. Stop it. You were successful at doing the very thing you're being paid millions of dollars to do. Stop celebrating for merely doing your job.
* baseball: home fans booing the opposing pitcher when he throws over to 1st to keep the runner close. Knock it off. That's what he's supposed to do. If you're going to do that, then boo YOUR guy when he does the same thing.
* semi-related to the above, knock off the booing when your superstar is walked intentionally to get to the guy that's batting .218. What, you expect the opposing pitcher to groove a fastball so your guy can hit it 450 feet?
Seems like I'm forgetting one. Those'll do for now, though.
1. When the same guy gets ridiculed for not hustling, not running it out but then also ridiculed for playing too hard (running into fences, bases and players)and that he's gonna hurt himself. "has to think of the team"
2. A subtle bat flip or looking at his HR (should they just stare at the dirt while running to first) gets his team mate plunked in the ribs or head.
Basically, damned if they do, damned if they don't.
yeah hairy soap reminds me.......Ron, a best friend on one of his visiting trips, came out of the guest bedroom's bathroom...holding a white bar of soap just covered/coated with dark brown hair (barely see the white)....said "let me guess, Dan's been staying over here before me?"......Dans another of our childhood friends who's a big teddy bear...and just as furry....like a friendly big ape (hair wise)...all of us have been best friends since we were freshmen in high school....more funny to us

Basketball is dumb for allowing fouls to actually be a GOOD strategy at the end of the game. Does anyone watch basketball to see the free throws? If a player is fouled, he should shoot one (or two) free throws and then his team should get the ball back.

I know Dick Vitale hates this too but as I explained to my wife it's very important strategery (as Rush Limbaugh likes to call it) especially come NCAA Tournament time it's roughly like an intentional walk in baseball...to a non-baseball fan it may seem nuts to walk a guy on purpose (or foul a guy on purpose in basketball) but it's an important part of what makes college basketball distinctive from the NBA. Shoot I couldn't even tell you off the top of my head if they even do that in the NBA (considering it's best of seven playoffs). Shoot, I even consider the possession arrow and shot clock to be sorta similar to the doubling cube in backgammon. And on the subject of the new 30 second shot clock I think it makes perfect sense seeing as how before all they did in the extra five seconds of the old 35 clock was stroll across the half court line waving to the girls
PS: Forgive me if I don't care that much about the NBA...as I've said before many times, you want me to follow the NBA, bring our Colonels back.
