Finally have something to add here. Last week I was on my way to a car dealer and on one of the main roads saw something that looked like folded money blowing in the road. I almost blew it off as unlikely but knew that it would bother me if I didn't investigate. I made a u-turn at the next light, then pulled over and saw that it was in fact money, first a $20, then another $20, and another.. total found blowing around in traffic ended up being $87!
I caught the event on my dash cam, too
Your morning walks are profitable ...and good exercise...I am always surprised at the amount of change you find in the school parking lot....I guess the kids just do not care about loose change... We were raised in a different world... Cheers, RickO
A retired former coworker of mine frequently bike rides a 20 mile stretch between where I live and the town he lives in. The road is a four lane state highway and no towns, almost nothing between our towns. The man has amassed a nice tool collection just from exercising. LOL Wrenches, ratchet sets, hammers, etc. One instance he saw a huge bundle of hammer handles wrapped in plastic cellophane. A lot of construction people drive this rode and I guess they don't secure the stuff in the back of their pickups very well. This doesn't include the stuff he's seen that he can't take home on a bicycle. Weed eaters, edgers, garden tools, etc. LOL

My dad found one of those lineman phones that the phone repair guys use like that, brand-new in the box. I sold it on Ebay for ~$150.
The above posts tell me that I will have to start road walking now.... With all those tool finds, I could hold a major yard sale and make a ton of money.... Cheers, RickO
This has my mornings walk finds. My first Silver road kill find ever. And a 1948 to boot. My birth year the black dime is one I pried out of the street
I retired at age 53, and I really needed something to do to keep active at that time, I was not into metal detecting yet. I didn't get my metal detector until February 1996, So I took up a hobby of collecting Aluminum cans. Aluminum cans were selling for about 95 cents per pound in 1987. It takes 32 cans to make a pound. It had been a windy morning when I decide to walk below the shoulder on a road of semi-busy city traffic. I walked about 1/2 mile and found over 100 cans. I always flattened them with my foot to get more cans in the plastic bags I carried with me. It always surprised me how many of the beer cans were not opened. I kept them unopened so I could wash them off and clean them up before offering them to my friends, to see if I had their favorite beer on hand. I don't drink, as I'm a recovering alcoholic with 31 plus years of sobriety. Over time, I had collected about three cases of unopened beer and I had about at least 15-20 different kinds of beer to offer my friends. That same day near the entrance to an apartment building, I thought I saw a five-dollar bill waving in the breeze, Sure enuff, it was a five. I looked around the area and found a total of five, five-dollar bills and a total of eleven one-dollar bills. Plus seven unopened beer cans. Good day, all in all. I hope this is an alright story to be posting in here. Ken, The metaldetecting hound.
@metaldetectinghound ....That is a great story...and random finds are discussed here frequently...parking lot finds, coinstar finds...bills blowing in the wind....Even unopened beer cans - which I have never found by the way.....Cheers, RickO
Yep MDH I agree with Richo. If you walk the streets or road shoulders you will find about anything. I too use to save the unopened cans for a guy that liked free beer. Now if I'm close to home or the pickup I just save them for the compost pile. Gives the Red Wigglers a little extra
I’ve been walking this local 5K race corse early on Sunday mornings for the last 6-7 weeks. Not many vehicles out right now. Picking up the change as I go along. Anyway two weeks ago I found a $5 bill and this morning a Walmart gift card. Always check out gift cards. This one still had $20 on it. Also found 2 quarters 2 dimes and 4 cents.
2 dimes and 3 cents on the Sunday morning 5k route. Also found 3 quarters a dime and a cent in the high school parking lot No school yet but sports are underway No spectators at events so there won’t be much in grassy areas except for the stuff I missed
Today I found 1 ten dollar bill and two ones in the parking lot,
wanted to ask around if anyone lost them but...................no use in that now a days
boston
@1630Boston.... A ten and two one's....Nice day in the parking lot.... Usually those are found on windy days....people trying to get in the car, fumbling for keys in purse or pockets, and bills fly out...Cheers, RickO

Working in a middle school, I find coins all the time on the floor....bills from time to time.
Did find a $20 on the floor at Wallyworld about a week ago and the same in a buggy at Dollar General back in May.
