<< <i>Anyone pull a Dale Murphy out of the 89 UD yet? Just curious if these happen to be error boxes. >>
I did pull one but it was not the reverse. In the first pack I opened, I pulled the Griff - not well centered and would be an 8 at best. I still like it!
Received mine today. Nothing of note worthy of scanning but fun to rip!! Thanks to the organizers.
Working on the following sets
1980's and 1990's Topps Baseball BBCE FASC - Cello or Wax Boxes
1952 Bowman US Presidents PSA 7 & up
Pro Football Hall of Fame Indianapolis Colts PSA Registry Set
June 9th Cubs full ticket or stubs - 1981 to 2020
Andre Dawson Topps Basic registry PSA 10's
Mark Grace Topps Basic registry PSA 10's
Big swing and a miss on everything I opened...4 of the Chrome FB packs, 2 SP packs, and the 2000 FB pack. Still contemplating on whether or not to open the 89 UD box, I'll probably save that RIP for a rainy night.
I opened 4 of the packs I got from this break, 2 of the '81 wax (79 wrappers) and 2 of he '81 cellos.
I started with the wax and both packs had one pretty banged up corner that pretty much affected almost every card including a Montana!
Here is the Montana from one of the wax packs and two decent ones from the other. You can see the upper left corner damage on the Montana, it was the least damaged one of the pack probably do to it being in the center of the pack.
The two cellos yielded many well centered cards, but little star power. They were also plagued by snow and various other print defects. One of them with the back card facing out had interesting collation about 5 or 6 card from end the pack. There was a really beat up card (multiple creases) near that transition along with several cards that flipped in various ways before straightening out.
Here are the best of of those two cellos.
The first yielded the best card which was a really sharp Largent...
and the other one, which yielded what seems like the obligatory Russell Erxleben, it seems like I've pulled more of him than any of player, and they always seem to be well centered!
Later tonight I'll be busting and posting (in another thread) the results of the following...
<< <i>Assuming my box arrives tomorrow, I'll be ripping a Contenders, 2 Chromes and an SP after our TBall game. >>
T-Ball? Sounds a world away! We're still able to skate on the outdoor rinks around town that are ringed with deep deep snow and all the houses on run-water order for freezing have to keep the water flowing until May.
Received my package today. Will be ripping much of it.
Unfortunately I only received one 81 T fb cello pack instead of the two I paid for and one 81 T fb wax pack instead of the two I paid for. If anyone got an extra 81 FB cello or 81 FB wax pack let me know and I will pay for you to ship to me. Thanks,
Robb
Edited 3/10 Talked to BBCE they have the missing cello and wax pack and will be sending to me this week.
Opened (1) 2000 Playoff Contenders fb pack and no autos.
Opened (1) 1993 SP pack and no Jeter.
Opened (1) 1975 T mini wax pack and every card was OC with no stars.
Opened (2) 2012 Topps Chrome football packs and no auto.
Opened (1) 1981 Topps football wax pack in 1979 wrappers no Montana or other HOF RCs.
Opened (1) 1981 Topps football cello pack and pulled a Montana, sadly it looks like it is missing 30% of the ink that was supposed to be on the card (not a poor scan that is what the card actually looks like). Not gradable, will keep it for my PC, but still a thrill to pull.
Here is the highlights of my 2012 chrome (2 packs). Was not sure what to expect totally having fun with these two packs. Not really a modern football collector so not sure if I should get any of these graded. Any thoughts?
Here is my highlights from the 75 minis. Rookies include Fred Lynn and Jim Rice with Dave Parke,r Fergie Jenkins and Dave Winfield. Centering was pretty horrid except for the Rice rookie. Only problem with the only centered card was that it has some serious damage to the bottom left. That entire pack was damaged and did not look good from the outside and the inside was equally bad if not worse. It was fun opening even if I did not land a gem card. So not to be deterred I promptly opened up a 78 and 79 cello from an earlier group break. Got pretty excited to see a 79 Ozzie Smith but the centering was not good at all.
We have arrival. Thank goodness BBCE packs well as my box looked like it was kicked from Indiana. All contents look good, but my Chrome packs are bent pretty well.
Will be ripping top row later.
Bottom row is 79s, not the 81 for the second box I'm building.
Torn on what to do with mini pack. MC Dave Duncan face out on back.
Will rip after TBall game.
52-90 All Sports, Mostly Topps, Mostly HOF, and some assorted wax.
I should be receiving my package today after it has taken some detours. Hoping to post some pics later today/tonight of '89 Upper Deck, 82 baseball, 81 football, '12 Topps Chrome, '00 Contenders, and maybe some Topps Minis.
Thanks again to the boardmember who noticed our packages had been swapped!

Personally, I would not bother getting any of those graded, the star power just isn't there to justify the cost. Hope this helps.
That Henderson looks a lot like mine. I've never subbed but I assumed it wouldn't grade high because thers's Some white in the stripes, which looks to be the case with yours. But I'm curious to hear others' opinions.
The big packs....2000 Playoff Contenders. The redemption card is a $700-$800 card....if it could be redeemed. A monster pull....but I'm contacting Panabi to see if they can help me out.
The centering on these 75s is just brutal. Makes me not want to even rip my 4 packs. My package got delivered last week after I was out of town on vacation. Will be back Monday and will plan to rip my 93 sp packs looking for that jeter. Not sure about the minis.
Not from this past group rip, but was looking through some previous 75 mini packs, with an eye on ripping one or two, and almost ripped this one before seeing the first name ROBIN and then YO through the wrapper on back of the pack. Needless to say, I didn't rip the pack.

<< <i>Centering looks pretty good on that yount. Why not have some fun and rip away! 😃 >>
It does and it's tempting, but I've already deferred to my unopened side on this one, lol..

From this group rip, would these have possibility of a 10 ? Because if not a 10, would be a losing proposition on grading based on pop reports. The Hampton goes no matter what though. Smart to just forget about it with these or luck of the draw kind of thing ?

I'm thinking PSA 9 (PD) on the Henderson, so not worth grading for a qualifier?

One Griffey (not great), no Randy Johnson cards, and a few HOFers.
I think I'm done opening boxes of that product.

That Michael Jorgensen with the gum stains on the back should be worth something, given all the interest in the 2015 Heritage reverse gum stains.
Opened 1 pack of SP and got dogschmidt
Also, wanted to note that I added some other stuff to my order and unexpectedly Steve took an additional 10% off like the good 'ole days
Wasn't expecting that at all, those guys are great! thanks!
Did also bust 3 packs of 2000 Bowman Chrome Football and got NADA.....

Curious to see if anyone pulled anything from 2000 Contenders or 2012 Topps Chrome since so far none of us have pulled anything good.

They call me "Pack the Ripper"
Ripped an 82 and an 83 and got nothing noteworthy.
Will rip Contenders and SP after getting kids down.
Mattingly and Canseco (on the mound) in the SP.
Better luck to the next rips.

1989 Upper Deck Box low series: 0 Griffey Jr., 0 Randy Johnson, 1 John Smoltz. Total Dud
1982 Topps Baseball wax pack and cello. Nothing of note except a nicely centered Rickey. Sub worth?
2 packs of SP Baseball: Complete Duds! Not even 1 of those shiney background cards
More to come later.
<< <i>Nice hit on that linebacker. He's a stud! >>
+1
Robb
<< <i>Opened my final 3 93 SP packs and no Jeter. Odds are looking good for a Jeter in the packs that remain.
Robb >>
I was 0 for 2 as well. I didn't even get a Premier Prospects card in either pack. Do most packs contain one?
Also, I'm still blown away by the terribleness of my Upper Deck box. No Griffeys or Randys. 1 Biggio and 1 Smoltz. Haha.
Redemptions are the devil.
