    Good Morning All

List is updated thru Shapko at 7 Friday morning

Lots of stuff still to go

Surprised that no one really went after the '70s unopened. No Love there??
  • I'd like

    (2) 1978 football packs
    (2) 1981 football packs in 1979 wrappers

    Thanks, Bill

Surprised that no one really went after the '70s unopened. No Love there??

I think the unopened craze has faded, it was pushed to new heights by this board, and 70s unopened is priced at the top of the market. For most of the 70s baseball wax packs you could buy a PSA 8 of the best card in the set for the price of one pack. So no rippers will really purchase it (save for 75 minis due to the high number of psa 9s and 10s that bring significant $$s) and the unopened collectors are just not that interested at these prices.

FYI I did not want any 78 baseball wax I failed to specify 78 football in my original request

    Robb
  • I will take:

    - 2 - 1982 Topps Cello BB

Plenty of love. The prices just aren't realistic, unfortunately.

Especially the 72s, where the price is based mostly on the premium for a full box:

    72 5th/6th PSA 8

    72 5th/6th PSA 9

I'm not surprised to see the mini packs selling strongly as the price for single packs from the box is more on line with retail. I think that the premium for the full boxes from other years may be cost prohibitive when applied to single packs and current retail value. The unopened market is still very strong from what I can see, but there's always going to be a threshold for pricing even with high demand.

Come on fellow hockey guys (Casey where are ya). The OPC hockey packs are a pretty good deal.
  • Eh, sorry. It's hard to justify the price for what you can get out of one of those. Not going to hate on it too hard - but I think I am going to have to pass on the 86 OPCs. I hope that you pull many, many crispy Roys, though!

In the May of 2012 group break, the 1972 packs were $225. The October 2011 break, 1978 OPC boxes were $280.

    Those were the days!

Agreed....both the 93's and the 2012 Chrome disappeared pretty quick. I'd be up for more of both....thinking 2 boxes of each would move and maybe even a 3rd.

I believe we have to wait until tomorrow if we want more 75 minis if we are already in for 2 packs and I can pay now for my other two, but since I am planning on getting more if permitted is it ok to wait until I know the final damage to pay? Thank you in advance for the help.

I fairly sure that nobody pays until the entire group rip has closed. It'll be sometime next week before any one pays, even if they're only purchasing one item from a "Sold Out" box.

I think 70s unopened demand is still very strong, but I agree with what others have said that some of the prices have gotten ahead of themselves. We have seen a levelling out of prices, which is probably healthy for the long term. At $150 to $200 per pack, there is probably enough demand to sell out a box of 76 cello packs, but at $250 hard to justify myself. I sure would like a couple of fresh minty 76 cello packs and 77 cello packs and some 79 racks, but wish they were a tad cheaper.

Since full boxes now command premiums over the same number of loose packs, that does make cracking boxes on some of the vintage 70s less appetizing for the single pack buyers since they are essentially paying the premium associated with a full box on the single pack price.

Of course if your pockets are deep enough, you dont have to worry as much and can take advantage of the opportunity to get great packs.

I would love to buy some regular size 1975 packs in a group break. I bet those packs would sell out quickly.

I agree. I can't blame BBCE because they just keep raising the prices as the product flies off the shelf. However, some of the prices are now at levels where the product isn't moving. The last '76 cello box break sold out in about a minute. This one has few takers after a few days. Maybe if the boxes sit for awhile, they'll be discounted and we can try for another break on those that aren't selling out.
