I think the problem is that box breaks go against the grain of the current "wrapping" trend. People have been piecing together boxes to get wrapped over the last year to enhance their value. So going in the opposite direction is going to be a loss of value.
<< <i>I think 70s unopened demand is still very strong, but I agree with what others have said that some of the prices have gotten ahead of themselves. We have seen a levelling out of prices, which is probably healthy for the long term. At $150 to $200 per pack, there is probably enough demand to sell out a box of 76 cello packs, but at $250 hard to justify myself. I sure would like a couple of fresh minty 76 cello packs and 77 cello packs and some 79 racks, but wish they were a tad cheaper.
Since full boxes now command premiums over the same number of loose packs, that does make cracking boxes on some of the vintage 70s less appetizing for the single pack buyers since they are essentially paying the premium associated with a full box on the single pack price.
Of course if your pockets are deep enough, you dont have to worry as much and can take advantage of the opportunity to get great packs.
I would love to buy some regular size 1975 packs in a group break. I bet those packs would sell out quickly. >>
I agree. I can't blame BBCE because they just keep raising the prices as the product flies off the shelf. However, some of the prices are now at levels where the product isn't moving. The last '76 cello box break sold out in about a minute. This one has few takers after a few days. Maybe if the boxes sit for awhile, they'll be discounted and we can try for another break on those that aren't selling out. >>
The 70's stuff and some of the high end 80's stuff is selling at very lofty prices. I don't blame BBCE if they can sell the product at these prices. The current market is strong with buyers with deep pockets. I don't have a 6-7 digit income. That is why I hoped we could get some less expensive early to mid 80's Donruss or Fleer to rip. That is more in my price range.
I just wanted to say "Thanks" for your work related to this group rip. I have never conducted one but I am sure there is a lot more going on than what most of us realize. I don't think I would be out of line to say all of us participating really appreciate what you are doing. Thanks again.
Looks like the '70s stuff is not gonna move. Unless things change I will remove all the '70s stuff so we do not hold up the rip. Will do so noon tomorrow

Thanks for doing the rip and getting the extra boxes added. No big deal, but I didn't see my name on the 75 mini list for one pack that I requested on Thursday night. Thanks again for setting this up.
Comments
I appreciate the input on prices--but as they say--It is what it is for purposes of this rip
If we can keep this thread for the rip -- that would be great because it takes a lot of time to monitor it
Feel free to start a different thread for those purposes
thanks in advance!
