Can't add too much until Messydesk sends me a CD
with my newer V Nickels..... 51 Nickels were sent in
and it's almost "50/50" MS and PR. My YN friend did
a great job and I am very appreciative - but he's still
slammed and hasn't finished our project yet.
Once I get some extra funds, I'll have my newer Dimes
imaged. That's another 50 - 60 images.

Paesan and Mike - thanks for the compliments on the 05 quarter in 58. I thought it was a nice 05 as well.
Jim - love that 93-S half, what a nice coin for such a tough date.

What?!?! No Barber quarters in the mail today!?!? ... "heavy sigh" ...
Darrell- I've been slowing way down, but our hosts take so long to grade that it seems I'm on a spending spree. I really like your new halves posted on another thread.
Here's a 1909 S Quarter back from the grading room in a VF 30 holder:
It was another raw find. I think our hosts graded this one fairly.
I've purchased 3 raw 1915 S Barber Quarters from eBay sellers this year. The first came back in a VF 35 holder, the second an AU 50 holder, and the latest recently returned from PCGS in an AU 55 holder:
It's a tougher coin than I think many people realize. I like the tonong on this one; it's a keeper.
Milo's 06-O is a very tough coin to locate in 58 - congrats in locating it.
Same for Jeff's 15-S - looks like patience is a virtue with you.... still searching for
an AU 58 ? I like the new 55 a whole lot !
Messydesk returned my newer Barber Nickels ( "V" ) so, be prepared to be
inundated with some very neat coins. ( The images should be available in a
few more days. ).

An easy date with an extra bonus mintmark.
Jeff, Did our hosts determine the D/D because you used the variety service and put it on the submission form to look for it? or did they determine it was a variety on their own then indicated that on the label accordingly?
A Barber Quartet is made up of Nickels, Dimes, Quarters, and Halves.
I agree that the image isn't great; I forgot to take a close up shot of the mintmark when I shot it last weekend.
I'm just going by what I paid PCGS $17 to verify and put on the label; they say it's a Large D over a small d. It looks that way to me as well. Mike, are you questioning our hosts credability?
I'll see if I can find time over the weekend to get a better shot.
Did not have to question our hosts at all.
Jeff: your coin is the product of the use of two different die punches.
The other coin - is a Re-Punched Mint Mark. ( same die punch ).
You owe me a glass of wine next time we meet ! LOL

Check this out... family is visiting this weekend from Texas and Colorado. We were going through very old family pictures and documents. Came across a land deed purchase document with "documentary stamps" on them from February 1920. The stamps are obviously older than that.
Looking closely, I see similarities with the Barber Head design on these stamps. Actually closer to the Barber design gold piece Mike recently posted. Hopefully you can see what I see with the attached pic. Interesting.

Nice stamps, Tim. You never see those any more - to the best of my memory !
Going thru old family documents must have been like a treasure hunt !
A while back, I was searching for an AU 58 Dime of 1915. I found a raw coin that
I was positive would fit the bill. The images seemed as if there very well could have
some rub. Last month - 4 weeks ago - I submitted the coin to our Hosts - thinking
I'll go the Economy route and take my chances.
I opted for all the bells and whistles for this coin.... an "old style" Doiley Holder - Secure
Plus Grading - and my minimum grade was "AU 58". { Thinking they'd take the hint,
and just grade the coin AU 58 }.
No such luck... I have this date in MS 63 already ... Now, I have a pair of 63's...
Back to the drawing board for an AU 58.....

Yeah, it was pretty interesting. The land sale deal was for $52,000 which was no chump change for that time period. There were, in total, 10 of the $5 stamps and one $2 dollar stamp. So, $52. in stamps for a $52,000 transaction.
A Barber Quartet is made up of Nickels, Dimes, Quarters, and Halves.
Another selection from May on it's 5 year purchasing anniversary. A PC20 with nice gunmetal gray and slightly darker halo. Thought I would bring it out on it's 5 year anniversary:
A Barber Quartet is made up of Nickels, Dimes, Quarters, and Halves.
I plucked the 97o half out of my Whitman book because I needed another coin to add to my free 8 voucher submission.
I'm pleased to report that it received an XF40 from our hosts.
Had to plug a VG 97P in its place but at least the Key to my set has some security behind it now.
We're all born MS70. I'm about a Fine 15 right now.
Both 97-O's are very similar and it's a hard guess which one I prefer.
Eye appeal is everything - and I have to say Vern's photography skills
win out in this case. So, I guess, I'm leaning towards Jim's No Headlights'
example...although this not a competition, they're both great coins ....

Thanks for the comments on my 97o half, despite my terrible iPhone pics.
I found this one at a show, and it doesn't seem like 4 years ago but probably is.
For that matter I can't believe I've been on this forum for 10 years either.
Jim's PC40 is top notch. For this date, and so many other of the early New Orleans issues, have a tendency to have blotchy toning but that one is nice and even, very pleasing.
Didn't Arco at one time have the best 97o ever in XF? Or was that Cary?

Edit...I have to retract that! (good ole brainfart!) I know where Carrie's is though. I got Walt's 45 everybody was after. I'm still looking for a nicer 40!

I opened up the PCGS page this morning; I set it on my computer to start at the Registry Sets page. One of the 3 featured albums that popped up was barberkeys Barber Quarter set. All I can say is WOW!!!! Simply amazing coins Vern. I do have a couple of questions, however. There's no photo of the '09 O? Some of the coins were shot in NGC holders; I assume they now reside in PC holders?

Dancingfire- a very nice '16 D Barber Quarter. I can't tell from the photos if it's a D/D like mine or not.
Jeff... It's a RPM, not the D/d that you have .... From the images, it is hard to tell.
