Oops, I missed the previous update because of the page turn. Those Legendary Cuts cards look like they have a place for an autograph. I'm guessing there are signed versions of both?
I'm so glad they didn't issue autos or relics of my guy during his playing days. I can pick them up here and there as I wish. You cats who collect modern player registries are CRAZY, man!!

Yep, for the Classic Careers at least there are 9 other parallels, all with at least an auto and some with memorabilia in place of the Reds logo as well. I don't chase a ton of the auto'd cards, but I do really like the Sweet Spots. I'd much rather chase down his rookie year or earlier autos.
Very nice pickups Kyle - I'm partial to the 98T Tek card.
I remember when he was a few years into his career and thought he was HOF material. Also, he played for only 1 team - a plus and could hit the long ball with a more than respectable BA.

Thanks for the comments, Mike! I love the Tek's as well, but trying to track down all 180 versions could be a lifelong project. I've always thought Barry was under-appreciated from the Ripken/Jeter overlaps, but I'm a bit biased
After being out of town last week, this was a surprise in the mail when I arrived. From the 2015 Topps Archives... While I don't actively collect post-2005 Larkin's, I'm a sucker for any of the retro designs and a huge fan of the 76T Reds cards. Thanks, Jim!
ETA: I also received my latest 4SC package, so eleven more 10s will be added to the registry today.
Here's the latest registry adds, all PSA10 thanks to the quarterly 4SC 20% off sale a couple weeks back... 1990 TOPPS #10 BARRY LARKIN 1991 TOPPS #730 BARRY LARKIN 1997 SELECT #92 BARRY LARKIN POP 3 1991 CLASSIC #T33 BARRY LARKIN POP 2 1992 TOPPS #465 BARRY LARKIN 1993 MILK BONE SUPER STARS #3 BARRY LARKIN POP 2 2001 BOWMAN'S BEST #78 BARRY LARKIN POP 1 - Sent request for add to Master 1998 SCORE #64 BARRY LARKIN POP 1 - Sent request for add to Master 2001 FLEER SHOWCASE #2 BARRY LARKIN POP 3 2002 ULTRA GLOVE WORKS #11GW BARRY LARKIN POP 1 - Sent request for add to Master 1994 STADIUM CLUB MEMBERS ONLY #414 BARRY LARKIN POP 2
This crossed a couple big milestones for my Master set by getting my set Rating over 3.00 and my Still Needed under 500. Looks like I should also meet my personal goal of 40% complete this year, since I'm over 37% already.
It also moved me up to #4 on the Basic Topps registry.
<< <i>I was finally able to upgrade and purchase these 1991 Desert Storm Larkins in a PSA 10. #730 has only a Pop of 4 in this grade. >>
Congrats, those are incredible! If you're looking to part with the lesser #730, PM me. I still don't have a copy of that one for my registry and am happy, at the moment, with 9s for those.
Finally picked up the whole 8.5x11" poster for the Barry cut shown on the previous page.... Too large to be gradeable, but included a lot of other big names (Glavine, Bagwell, Clemens, Bonds, F Thomas, Piazza, Giambi, etc.)
Good to see some stand up guys like Bonds and Clemens sticking their necks out and telling kids not to put poison in their bodies. We need more role models like them!

Finally found a copy of one of these after months of searching, a 1996 Upper Deck Folz Mini #13...
From supercollectorscatalog.com: In 1996, Upper Deck partnered with the Folz Vending company to create mini cards that could be dispensed from their vending machines. For .50 cents you could get a single card from the vending machine. Unfortunately, the cards were placed in the machine unprotected and when they dropped out of the machine, corners would often get dinged. The Folz sets use the photos from the Collector's Choice sets from 1996, but the Collector's Choice logo is removed. They are smaller than normal card size (2 5/16 x 3 3/8) and are numbered to 48.The first six cards in the set are foil and short printed, so they are more difficult to obtain.
It doesn't appear PSA grades these and I recall someone posting to that effect. Am I not looking correctly in the registry or does anyone know why?
OK, bought these about a month ago, but was leaving for vacation before they were likely to arrive. Thanks to DanB for receiving the order and sending it my way last week. Some nice low Pops to add to the registry (scans are available there, just follow the link in my sig):

Opening Day is a great looking card and the Fleer is a sneaky tough 10.
A couple recent purchases from a board member: 1997 Stadium Club Members Only #s 17 (Pop 1!) and PL9 (Pop 3, Patent Leather insert), both PSA 10s. Both will be new additions to the Larkin Master registry once it will let me request new slots for them.
Great thread. This thread and Kyle's Larkin registry set is what pushed me start to start picking up a few basic registry Roberto Alomar's and maybe expand that to a Master at a later date

Thanks for the kind words, I'm humbled. If there are any Alomar items you want me to keep an eye out for, let me know. I'm constantly trying to track down Larkin oddballs from the same time period.

Set Composite finally updated for these two, so they're available for viewing in my Master set now.
Hoping this one crosses to a PSA 8 after I free it from it's tomb. It would be a nice upgrade to my current 7 and somehow won it for less than the PSA6 a couple months back...
<< <i>Hoping this one crosses to a PSA 8 after I free it from it's tomb. It would be a nice upgrade to my current 7 and somehow won it for less than the PSA6 a couple months back... >>
Ouch, first time I've damaged a card trying to free it. A nice little dent across the surface.
It's been a little slow going on Larkin pickups recently as I've put more focus on golf, but I did purchase a few 10s recently and the first one arrived today... and a few raw cards from the past week or so.... 95 Select Artist's Proof, 97D Armed and Dangerous insert /5000, and 94UD Diamond Collection insert
<< <i> Ouch, first time I've damaged a card trying to free it. A nice little dent across the surface. >>
That sucks. Is that a hard to find card?
I've done that once as well. Only difference is, my card would be lucky to have crossed to a 5. I bent it completely in half while rushing the crack out job.
A couple more packages arrived today, one for the registry and the other for the oddball collection.... ETA: It's amazing how tough it is to find some of the 'junk' era base cards. The 88F Glossy was much easier to track down in PSA 10.
A small mailday... It's going to be a while before I move up in the ranks on any of the Larkin sets, but I hit a nice intermediate goal with this one. My 100th addition to the Basic set (all 10s) w/88 to go currently.
<< <i>I love following this thead. The oddball stuff is really fun to see. >>
That's almost verbatim what I was gonna say. Your collection is so comprehensive, it's great to see both the variety and volume in this thread and in your registry.
<< <i>Are there any Larkin /1 cards out there that are being sought? >>
Not by me, but I'm sure others are chasing them. I might have to get one one of these days just for the novelty, but not really into chasing all of them nowadays.
A huge mailday (in more ways than one)... I decided to 'slum' it with an 8 on this one for now given there are only 4 total graded. Someone just added 10 additional items to the Larkin Master, pushing me back over 500 to go. Time to remedy that soon...
Nice pickups! Always loved 91 Studio. I remember going to a card show and finding packs of that stuff for 25 cents. I thought I had hit the mother lode!
A couple new raw additions... 00 Stadium Club First Day Issue /150 & 90 Leaf Preview
I couldn't believe how long it took for examples of these to become available. I'll keep an eye out for any centering upgrades for the Leaf, but this one will do for now.
Cool! I remember you saying that after you bought all the cheap 10's you could find, you'd be subbing a large number of Larkins yourself. Not there yet? I know your sub will include a bunch of tough items so I'd love to see poppage whenever that is.

First two examples graded, better than expected guessing 8 & 9(PD). All of these have at least one black smudge on them from the original printing, so I doubt there will be an unqualified higher grade. Some odd results on the other portion of the sub (like how can a SIFK card get MINSIZE?), but overall I'm pleased.
Do you know if that was given to shop owners to hand out to customers?
I remember back then, that shops got all kinds of previews and stuff. >>
Thanks! According to Beckett: The 1990 Leaf Previews set contains standard-size cards which were mailed to dealers to announce the 1990 version of Donruss' second major set of the year marketed as an upscale alternative under their Leaf name. This 12-card set was presented in the same style as the other Leaf cards were done in except that "Special Preview" was imprinted in white on the back.
Another early (88-90?) auto on the team issued 86 rookie photo arrived over the weekend... I don't usually go for personalized autos, but will pick up any on this photo that I can get. The #11 dates is to 1988 or newer, but he quit signing with his uni # pretty early in his career.
