Trying to synch up my local inventory spreadsheet with my published registry set, I was off by two and had to go digging through the archives today. Well worth the effort....
The Stadium Club Silver is a Pop 3 w/none higher and the Mirror Image a Pop 4.
Also, finally got the backlog of my PSA graded scanned and uploaded to the registry.
Added 46 PSA10s from 4SC, hard to pass up 10s of a HOFer @ $3.51 ea. All have been scanned and updated to the registry. This moved me up to #5 on both the Basic and Master sets.
Also purchased a few low Pop Larkins from Lee that brings me pretty close to #4 on the Master registry:
Very cool! In checking out your registry, there seem to be gaps in the composite, places where you can add items. It seems like some of his Star brand cards aren't listed and also for the Collector's Choice cards there are some silver and gold signature variations that aren't listed yet. Good luck climbing the standings!

For the 90 Star Larkin/Bo set, only card #1 applies to both. Larkin is the evens and Bo is the odds for #s 2-11, so that's why there are some apparent gaps there. There are tons of Larkins that are not currently part of the composite, so once I get a good handle on those I'll be starting to grade and add the others. I think I have at least 500 different Larkins raw that are not currently part of the composite, but could easily be added.
Funny you mention the gold/silver sig variations. This gold sig just arrived yesterday and I think wraps up my CC Gold Sig run:
26 more 10s arrived today, 2 of my favs from this batch...
Registry updated w/scans of these and all the rest. This moved me up to #4 on the Larkin Master registry! A long way to go to move up the next slot, but will keep chipping away.
Awesome grabs! Back in the late 80s, I don't even remember theses glossy sets coming out. Only the Tiffany sets. They must be pretty rare. If that's even possible for those years
<< <i>Awesome grabs! Back in the late 80s, I don't even remember theses glossy sets coming out. Only the Tiffany sets. They must be pretty rare. If that's even possible for those years >>
The Score glossy was supposedly limited to 5K sets and Fleer 40-60K. I don't recall seeing either one when they came out either.
<< <i>Congrats on adding a plethora of Larkins!! >>
Thanks!
Here's some recent raw additions as well from a mix of sources including CDsNuts and Burbank...
Donruss w/Thome is the Silver Press Proof, 98T are the Inaugural for both Devil Rays and Diamondbacks, Finest is a refractor, All-Star Heroes is the Gold parallel, and UD is a Gold Reserve
A couple Larkin packages arrived today. First from Topps Vault...
Since I don't have a slide scanner, here's the image it actually shows from the auction:
Also received the latest batch of 23 10s from 4SC. My favs out of the batch are the 90 Topps TV, both 92 Topps Micros, and 93 SP. Ten of them were also applicable to the Basic set and moved me up to 4th on that one as well.
<< <i>I had somehow missed this earlier, but congrats! >>
Thanks!
<< <i>That's a lot of 10s. All from 4SC? They're great for that.
What are the big cards you still need for the registry? >>
Most of the more common ones and those available for less than grading fees have been from 4SC. I think I at least have a raw copy available for everything on the registry, but just crossed the 20% complete threshold, so there are still tons that I need to get graded. It just doesn't make sense to self-sub when I can pick up a 10 for $3-4 so I'm trying to check those off first. The biggest one that I need for the registry I currently have in a BGS 9.5, 97 Bowman's Best MI Inverted Atomic w/Jeter & Garciaparra.
Rookies needed in a 10: 87 Toys 'r' us (have a 9 currently) and 87 Kahn's (have a 7, 8 is highest currently graded and I would be amazed to ever see a 10)
Latest batch of 34 10s for the Larkin Master arrived yesterday (16 applicable to the Basic set as well), a couple highlights here and all scans available on the registry linked below. I've probably got one more bulk pickup from 4SC (based on their current inventory) before this slows down and is going to require some more self-subbing.
<< <i>You're closing in on 3rd place. Congrats! >>
Getting close percentage-wise, but still a good bit behind in set rating with multipliers. Hoping to get to around 30% complete in the next month or so and hopefully taking 3rd. After that it's a long climb with 1 & 2 at 57-59% complete.
A couple more arrived in today's mail courtesy of the BST. Thanks Alex! The Bowman's Best is a Pop 1 and Finest a Pop 3. Very happy to add these
I've been eyeing this one for quite a while and finally worked out an off-eBay deal with the seller. I believe the photo is from 1986, team issued, and the #15 inscription dates the auto to 1986 or 1987 while Stillwell was wearing #11 for the Reds.
I decided to grab some base Topps issues with my eBay Bucks since all I had was the rookie previously. These apply to all 3 Larkin registry sets, Basic, Topps Basic, and Master. Picked up the 04 eTopps Reds Team card from the same seller that features Larkin/Griffey Jr.
Also added this as a new entry on the Master Registry, pop 1 currently though there are two other Die-Cut versions that will need to be differentiated on the slabs eventually (this is the /2000, but there are also /100 and /50 versions):
Many other recent entries have been scanned and added to the registry with 3 more to be added as soon as the cert #s are released from others inventory. Knocking on the door of #3 on the registry with already a higher completion percent and weighted GPA.
Love all the Larkins. My first post on this thread. You have some nice stuff. He was a great player. Wish my guy (Will Clark) could have sustained his health and played over the same length of time as Larkin. Clark ended up a fringe HOF candidate because he ended up getting hurt a little too often and because at least in my estimation never used PED's. For a run of 3 or 4 years from 1988-1992 he was one of the best players in baseball. Then while other players' bodies morphed into these ridiculously muscled caricatures and HR and batting numbers went crazy, Clark's body stayed the same throughout the bulk of his career. While his HR high peaked in 1987 in his mid-20's, PED guys like Palmeiro who started with 10 HR's in his 20's then ran off strings of 40 HR seasons in his mid to late 30's. Clark's career numbers ended up looking a lot softer because of the comparison to the PED users. If he would have had the same numbers playing a decade earlier he would have had at least a better chance at HOF induction .303/.384/.497 was a pretty good stat line in any era besides the juiced one he played in. He averaged less than 120 games for his age 29-34 seasons (peak years for batters) that cost him in the counting categories. Sorry for the random diatribe, I guess my point is seeing your Larkin thread is a nice blast from the past for me and makes me think about adding to my small collection of Will Clark PSA 10's that I have in my player collection.

Thanks and feel free to share whatever here Clark was definitely another one of the good guys from that era and durability/injuries was the biggest complaint I saw about Larkin's HOF induction. It's definitely not a fair comparison with those who used PEDs. Blast from the past is what this is all about!
Very nice pick-ups. I especially like the wire photo. Dan, you are right: Lark' showed tremendous class and loyalty to the Reds organization. Bench is my all-time favorite Red, but Barry is right there with him in my book.
<< <i>Bench is my all-time favorite Red, but Barry is right there with him in my book. >>
Rose is my all-time favorite Red, but 'class' is not the right word for him. For Larkin, from the 84 Olympic team and declining the Reds the first time he was drafted to finish college through today he exuded class. I haven't heard of Bench being extremely fan-friendly, but his intensity and accomplishments on the field were absolutely incredible.
Some more raw pickups, all except the Leaf from COMC...
Top: Leaf Gold Press Proof CL /500, another different back for the Topps Stickercard (#226 on back, 9th different combo), the corrected version of the Topps Gold Winners (most are an error with Astros listed on front) Bottom: 90 Publication International Stickers (Reds & All-Star) and a couple SIFKs (I'm a hoarder of these hoping to find one worth grading, all seem to have a line of PD across the left top part of the card)
ETA: Just picked up 3 of the 9/95 SIFK magazines also hoping to find a better copy.
Picked up a couple more raw singles and several of these are out of a small lot purchase:
Top: I'm a sucker for die-cuts, so the National Treasures is a great one, 02 UD /1125, and somehow I've never had a 99 Revolution Bottom: UD PnP /125, 00 Prism variation (think this brings me up to 9 out of the 15), and the Leaf Steel Gold Promo (ended up getting the card and cash for the full purchase price due to a small scratch on the front)
In addition, got a wrong back 00 UD Black Diamond with a Larkin front/Edgardo Alfonzo back.
Added my latest 4SC order to the registry, 3 out of the 13 are waiting to be added to the composite. I'm only .04 away from 3rd on the Master registry now.

I highly recommend it. It's been a blast so far and I could use some competition

Love the action shot, but need to clean the scanner. Got a few raw over the weekend, scans upcoming and some more 10s on the way.
Registry updated w/scans of these and all the rest. This moved me up to #4 on the Larkin Master registry! A long way to go to move up the next slot, but will keep chipping away.
