<< <i>You think? Seems all this cancel box and pinging CC etc business is all about shipping the mint bag out. The coins themselves who knows. >>
There is a separate cancel box for the Mint bag and for each individual products.....the screen shot showed no cancel box for the product. It is getting ready to be shipped....most ship on Thursday which I always thought to be dumb since 2nd day air won't get anywhere until Monday....
If you got a tracking number there should be a listing of whats in the shipment...please check and tell us. On the status page it will say item shipped by each item and the overall order status will change from in process to shipped if the whole order ships.
My cancel boxes disappeared the 28th which is the first day my orders appeared on the order history page. I just called US Mint customer service to try to cancel anyway. I dont want the bag. I dont want the non 1st strike eligible coins that probably won't ship until Christmas.
Anyway the customer service rep tells me my free bags have shipped even though there is no record of that online. So it's looking like you just can't cancel once the cancel boxes are gone.
I'm starting to see these "free bags" as an accounting move on the part of the US Mint. They are just a technique to lock in your order. I suppose if you want to retain your right to cancel your order you need to cancel the "free bag" as soon as possible. But the Mint is also obstructing that maneuver , your order doesn't show in your order history for a while ( at least a day).
Maybe you can cancel the free bag before placing the order? I'll have to try that next time.
<< <i>1st order at 12:08, on hold, but in stock and reserved but cancel boxes still there. Huh? CC only pinged 4.95. Its a 5 figure order.
2nd order at 12:12, CC charged full amount, in process, in stock and reserved, no cancel boxes. Small order
Mint better not dick me on that first order, looks like its getting bumped down the line. Wheres the FIFO. >>
I have something similar to this... although I didn't order as early as you.
I placed an order for a Gold Proof at 4:49ET on Thursday... that order has a backorder date that keeps getting pushed back... and I got the backorder email.
The following day I placed another order... this time for 2 Silver Proofs around 9:30PM ET... and that order has no cancel boxes and my credit card has been charged for the $4.95 Shipping charge.
So it looks like they might be doing something about the larger orders.... to help fill some lesser orders from later in the day. To help spread the love.
Mine are all "In Stock And Reserved", CC shows 2 pending charges. 4/2 for the full amount of the coins, 4/1 for shipping. The key phrase is pending. Once the charges go to Recent Transactions I will know that the hand truck is moving my coins from stock to the shipping dock...and not until. So if you check you CC to see if it has been charged make sure it is a transaction and not pending AND it is for the full amount and not just shipping.
Ya Looks like they are just charging your CC for a shipping and they are but they will send you a bag for $4.95 if you cancel you just bought a bag for $4.95 if you dont plan on canceling it's ok but if you do you just bought a bag. I went and canceled just that line item so now it's just the coin they will ship and if i dont want it any more i will not get a shipping fee.
"As of midnight on March 27, we had sold 41,797 gold coins (50,000 limit), 156,675 silver coins (400,000 limit) and 73,354 clad coins (750,000 limit). "
Does that mean if you got an order in by midnight your good to go on the gold? I got around 10 orders in which 4 are gold. my 1st order was at 7:17pm do you all think I have a chance at the gold?
<< <i>Ya Looks like they are just charging your CC for a shipping and they are but they will send you a bag for $4.95 if you cancel you just bought a bag for $4.95 if you dont plan on canceling it's ok but if you do you just bought a bag. Not really a bag for $4.95. It's the total order shipping. The coins will ship for no additional cost and if you passed the order $ amount threshold you will get the upgrade to 2nd day shipping for your $4.95 basic shipping cost.
Has any one actually seen a coin on there order page turned to shipped? Seeing lots of people with bags marked shipped but nothing else. I was in disbelief that the US Mint was going to actually ship just a bag by itself w/o any coins. Extremely wasteful and not very 'green' at all if that's how it turns out. Really dumb.

This is not true. I cancelled an order that already had a tracking number (but when you clicked fedEx said not found). I just got an email from the mint saying they will credit back my $4.95
What i ment is if they send you the bag and 2mo later you say i'm going to cancel this is too long i'm going to use the $$ for a coin i saw at a show and or what ever they will say well we shipped you the bag so you will need to pay for that shipping $4.95 even though you did not get the coin.
