And feel even worse for the family of the woman. Yea, I'd have to say though - his head has grown multiple sizes since becoming fully grown - there's only one way that happens.

Wow...no one has an opinion on what Dempster did?

It was a gutless, pathetic move on the part of a player who used to be a union rep. Throwing at him FOUR times and finally hitting him? Pathetic. Throw in an umpire who issued warnings to both teams, meaning the Yankees couldn't even retaliate, and you have a league seemingly doing everything it can to make a martyr out of Arod.

The Red Sox and their fans should be the absolute LAST ones booing at PED use...or have they all conveniently forgotten the 2 world series titles they won on the backs of PED users like Manny and Ortiz?
  • TheVonTheVon Posts: 2,725
By that "logic", no one in baseball should boo PED use since every team has had a guy that used.
  • pitbosspitboss Posts: 8,643 ✭✭✭
We will be the winners when Dumpster is given a vacation from playing for a while. Hopefully it will be a long suspension.

We have a new shortstop playing tonight. What are your opinions on Bogarts? ( however you spell it)
  • TheVonTheVon Posts: 2,725
Everything I've read and heard says he will be the real deal. I'm excited for him.

Suspension was only for 5 games which he was not going to pitch one of anyway, too bad it was not for the rest of the season.

Lifetime Yankee fan here to chime in.

    1. Dempsters performance was total Bushleague imho. Embarrassed himself.

    2. Looking forward to seeing your new shortstop.

    3. I wish Pedroia would heal up. I love how he plays but struggling at the plate lately.

I too am looking forward to our new shortstop and hope he will be here for many years to come.

Pedroia's problem is he just plays too hard and is always playing hurt because of it.

I thought the Dempster thing was absolutely hilarious.

It's the height of hypocrisy to boo a game for taking PEDs if players on your own team has done them, yes. And Dempster not even missing a start and getting a paltry $2500 fine is as bush league as Dempster's pathetic performance itself. Bud Selig is doing everything he can to make it open season on Arod - and making Arod a martyr in the process. Nice work, Buddy Boy!

Lackey pitched a terrific game but the Red Sox just can not seem to hit good pitching.

Buchholz coming back will not help if the hitting does not pick up.

  • pitbosspitboss Posts: 8,643 ✭✭✭
OK guys and gals it's an early start and on national tv so enjoy the game with me.
  • bxbbxb Posts: 805 ✭✭
Very impressive 8-1 win. And took the series, too, 2-1.

They were fortunate did not have to face Greinke or Kershaw.

Are there any stats on stupid base running mistakes that result in outs? The Sox must lead the league! Ugh
  • pitbosspitboss Posts: 8,643 ✭✭✭
They can run the bases stupid ever day when they win 13-2.

Yea it does, lets hope they get it out of their systems now.

What was bush league was that he was so bad that night it took him 4 pitches to finally hit him!

There is a conspiracy theory that Girardi actually asked Dempster to plunk him, then did an over the top acting job to cover it up.

I can not believe how little interest there is in the Red Sox this year and them with a 5 1/2 game lead and the 2nd best record in baseball.

I didn't know if he meant the national media, local, or what. I'm guessing because so many of the big names went to LA that there's not the draw there once was?

Don't bring your troll crap to this page. Those who post here don't need or appreciate your style.
  • It is interesting how the Yankees and Red Sox do not sell out anymore. You can kind of understand with the Yankees, being that they're playing so bad. But what were the Steinbrenner's thinking charging so much for tickets ? However, with the Red Sox it's kind of hard to figure out where the enthusiasm has gone ? Is the economy that bad ? Have people found other interests ? With the invention of all this electronic entertainment, will baseball one day be a thing of the past ? Will kids stop playing the game ? Probably a bit foolish to say all that, but league attendance will be interesting to watch over the next ten to twenty years.
  • pitbosspitboss Posts: 8,643 ✭✭✭
    I. for one, do not understand how a family of 5 can afford to attend a game at todays prices after you get done paying for tickets, parking, and the excessive concession prices. These ballplayers and owners are making way too much money and are driving fans back to their couches and chairs . The kids today are just not getting to see and get interested in baseball. I remember getting excited going to a ball game as a kid to watch Teddy ballgame and Yaz play but could not afford to do it today.

If I'm not mistaken, didn't Orsillo, or Remy's sub make a comment this past week about beer prices in Fenway being the highest in all MLB parks?Something like $9 per cup?
Ticket prices are obscene, checkout Ace ticket or stubhub...crazy!! Parking around Fenway is outrageous, you are almost compelled to take the T, but then run the risk of parking your car elsewhere.
Back in the day, the bleachers were 75 cents and seats in the triangle at the 420 sign were $2.50.
Gotta go with Steve, seeing Ted Williams and Mickey Mantle play there was quite a thrill...and the memories of those Summer days and nights is priceless.

Any local guys have any Remy info? At this point is he gone for the season? What a horrible thing !!!

Sox continue to roll !!! image

Hey Paul...don't give up on the Pats yet.
  • Should be a great series coming up! Sellouts will definitely be in order for this.... I'm not sure the economy is to blame for lagging sales. In Detroit, we have probably the worst economy in the country AND we're bankrupt. We sell out Tigers/Lions games regularly. In NY/Bos, people are made of money just to live there, AND they are two of the best sports towns. It may be just general protest halting ticket sales. Ticket prices have gone thru the roof around here since last season. While I CAN afford to go, I just don't. I went to about half as many games as last season and I bought from Stubhub way below face value..... And yes, I heard Remy is done for the season. I don't blame him, considering the family crisis he is enduring right now. Strange how such a class guy could produce such a loser, POS of a kid...
  • pitbosspitboss Posts: 8,643 ✭✭✭
You can never tell how your kid is going to turn out. You can do everything right in your life and you kid can turn sour on you. Jerry has gone through a lot in the past couple of years. Lets hope he can overcome this.

I'm still holding back a little, after the collapse in 2011. Not getting my hopes up too high yet.

Seems to be a lot more parity in the league this year as well, and although they are a good team, they are not great, and have a lot of holes that will be exposed against the better teams this month and if they make the playoffs; hope I am proven wrong of course.

If they get into the playoffs, and especially if they advance in the playoffs, I expect interest will greatly increase.

Lester looked like Lester of many years ago. Nice for a change. Nonetheless, Lackey is the team's #1 these days.

Feels almost dirty to write that.

Just watched Ortiz hit # 2,000...great accomplishment and a typical Fenway standing-O. They are crushing the Tigers.

Well my friends I have "crossed the Rubicon"...I'm done collecting cards. My handle of MCMLVtopps (1955topps) will be changed, but haven't decided to what just yet. I put together 4, 1955 topps sets and once had the 16th best...hard to try to catch Don Spence! image Anyway, it's just time for others to enjoy some of my stuff, and I recently sold my 1955 topps, all PSA 7 set. If you're a Bill Lee or Luis Tiant fan, I've got some hard to find cards for those sets...otherwise it's eBay time I suppose.

Not going anywhere as far as the boards are concerned, but am enjoying the new home, neighbors and all the amenities here at Lake Oconee in GA. Pontoon boats and bass boats abound...life is GOOD !!!

Excited about the Red Sox chances this year. Me, the big pessimist early in the season, I've really joined the rah, rah club now. Hey, the Red Sox come to Atlanta next year, I'll be sure to catch a game, even though it'll be about a 200 mile round tripper for me.

    As always, best to all.

What depth they have when Ellsbury gets injured they can call up a rookie like Bradley to replace him on the roster.
