Is that much PD typical/acceptable for 10s of this set?

I would have to see it in hand to be 100% but I will say that high resolution scans make this card in particular from the set look much worse.

Both of my 10's look much worse in scans than in hand.

As soon as I posted the link earlier it must have shown up in his saved searches and the fireworks started.

I paid $1,200 for the second one. It's tax refund season and business has been strong so it's not over yet.

I knew the fireworks would be out with his reemergence last week that we referenced. There is a third party to this who may want to crash the party and win Kerry Von Erich style.

I was going through my safe and found this sticker. I love Patera's shoot interviews.

Thanks Rob. It was the strangest thing last night. I am one of the folks that look at my orders frequently even though there is no chance they are done. I saw a green check next to this order and thought that is strange as I figured it would be a few more business days at least. There the grades were. As you can see the entire order is from one set so perhaps it is true that you get faster service if that is the case.

I think these grades are spot on. It is nice when you get your results and feel good about them both from the results standpoint and the accuracy. I really thought the Hogan was an 8 as the upper left corner is touched. The Brody I thought was a 9 and the Tommy Rich too. I wasn't certain how the Flair's were going to turn out but I am not surprised at all by the grades. They both had excellent centering and one had a slightly worse corner than the other. I have never self subbed a Brody or Flair 9 so I am pumped.

This is one of the things I love so much about getting cards graded. You constantly check EBAY for cards and when some pop up with potential you buy them and hope they are as good as you think they are and then pay your fees and send them in and bamm if you are right your investment has really paid off. This is a nice batch of cards and the Paterson finishes off my eighth 1982 A complete set.

My other order has some solid cards in it too so looking forward to seeing how those do.

I am having some good luck on turn around times with my CC renewal subs.

Just did one of my random checks and this order popped.

    1 1 26911750 POOR 1 1981 Wrestling Super Stars-Hand Cut Hulk Hogan Card

The only PSA 1 in my collection but very pleased to get a numerical grade. This example has the staple holes in it but I must have cut it good enough to get the number grade which is great as I have a few others from the set to send in sometime.

I got my 15 card submission back from PSA in the mail today. It was great to see these cards in holders. Self subbing a Brody and Flair PSA 9 was a great thrill. I really felt confident this Hogan was an 8 and it looks great slabbed. A really nice batch of additions to my collection.

Not the most popular bunch in the CU group (wrestling collectors) but obviously some attention has been paid to the prices that some of these "non-sports" cards are getting these days.....Captain Lou from the 1980s pulling in 2k twice in the same week has to open some eyes!

The Hogan is a Pop 1 with 227 submitted so far.

I don't really collect SGC graded cards but I saw this one and it is a really beautiful example.

I found the listing you are referencing and it looks like a sealed pack. There hasn't been one offered in a while so I would imagine it will do well. It almost seemed in the listing as if they don't know who is in it. Thanks for pointing it out.

I am happy to report our little Ginger Rogers made it to her 13th birthday today. We continue to take it one day at a time and the acupuncture and CBD Oil seems to be helping with her nausea and appetite. I am hitting the Fresh Market after work and she is getting some filet for dinner! We are trying to be realistic but there have been signs of late for some level of optimism and we hope it continues.

She was dying to eat her steak but didn't eat as much as I thought she would. Hopefully she will want some of the leftovers tomorrow.

I have no clue where this pack ends. It could go $750 or it could go $1,500. You can definitely at times pull nice cards out of sealed packs.

On my Facebook page a memory from seven years ago popped up. It was the day I got my first grades back from PSA. These all came from one sealed pack that was pristine. I planned to keep it sealed but gave in pretty quickly and glad I did.

I give up sending anymore of the 1991 WCW cards in. I bet I can't get a buck for the Paul E in an 8! Haha

Nice hit on the Savage, that card is brutally OC typically. Also the Stunning Steve is prob considered high grade for the issue. Did you anticipate getting so many 7s? Always love your subs

  • Stone193Stone193 Posts: 24,407 ✭✭✭✭✭

Hiya David - since I know nothing of these cards....

How about giving me a few of your best "hits" and best "misses?"

My favorite? The 1982 Wrestling - great colored borders that have immense appeal when centered and have strong corners.

I obviously overlooked a few things on a couple. The Steffi Graf I thought was a lock for a 9 and maybe the first 10. I subbed three or four 9's before. On the 82 A WAS I was expecting some 7's. I subbed really nicely centered cards with modestly touched corners. I am actually happy with the Murdoch 7.5 because it really deserves the half grade higher. I ended up with 8 PSA 9's from the two sets I bought so I can't complain. The 83's I thought a few were better but rarely do cards grade NM that look good and don't have some issue. Very happy a few graded high that I went back through large amounts of cards and found hidden within. The 87 Wonderama Flair is a great addition in any condition. Overall a fun sub.

  • Dpeck100Dpeck100 Posts: 10,912 ✭✭✭✭✭

Stone the first two low grades are losers. Big time. The beauty of a CC sub is limited downside for misses in cost. The 1992 Paul E is nice. Pop 2 now. I have both. The Brock Lesnar Silver is the third I have subbed and all three have gotten an 8.5. The Steve Austin is an upgrade. I have a six. Obviously the WAS 9's are good and perticularly the 82A. There is nothing earth shattering in this sub but a fun one. Popped some 10's on lower dollar stuff which was great. Almost no cost for the card and a PSA 10 for the collection.

I absolutely love that shot. He has cards from the 1991 WCW Championship Marketing set but this in my opinion is by far his best early card. I have self subbed both of the 10's that exist. These cards are actually really tough in Mint or higher.

    David,

    Nice additions. :+1::+1:

I really like the Kerry Von Erich card. Why only a PSA 8? Is it mostly due to the top the bottom centering?

Yes top to bottom centering is what held it back. A beautiful example. I have lost track of how many of the card I have graded but I am always willing to add a copy that looks like this to the collection.

The Millon Dollar Man card probably won't grade higher than an 8 but I just love that shot of him from this era. To a young Hulkamaniac he was the devil in 1989!!

I was thrilled to get the Hart Foundation card. I bought a box of the Series 2 Market Scene cards where the Dibiase came from and it had 40 out of 48 packs and one was from Series 3. I have an 8 and and sold my 9 a few years ago as a part of a deal to get my PSA 10 Bob Backland and this card has a shot at a 10.

If anyone likes watching some unavailable wrestling moves, the original Tiger Mask from the 1983 set is insane. I never knew who he was until I started buying these cards and actually laughed at the card. I went to Youtube and was blown away.

In my recent sub I got one of the cards from KG Authentics that they are inserting in return packages and participated in their Instagram contest and won a free prize. I just got it in the mail and man these card stands are awesome! Not sure who the ballplayer is. The bag is very nice too!

    David,

Congrats on the prizes. I agree that card stand does look awesome.

The cancer finally got Ginger Rogers. She fought so hard and I am so blessed to have had her for over 13 years. We are having her put to sleep tomorrow at 4 at our condo in our bed. She has brought so much joy to my wife and I and she deserves to end her life with dignity. I am heartbroken and haven't felt pain like this. My little baby meant the world to me and we refuse to let her suffer.

    I love you Ginger.

So sorry to hear news like this.
Have a 13 year old Golden, Spanky, that is fighting the fight now,
He is starting to lose the use of his back legs now so we carry his 100 lb body up the stairs at night so he can still sleep with us. They bring you so much love it's hard to think of life without them.
I can tell from your post that Ginger Rogers had a great life and was loved greatly!
Glad you all had 13 wonderful years together!

Dpeck - so sorry to hear about your dog, and to us dog owners they are not just like family they are family. We have two rescue dogs who are awesome and would do anything for them, and obviously your Ginger means the world to you. Stay strong bro.

Thanks for the responses guys. I appreciate it.

As heartbroken as I am, 4 can't come soon enough. I want to take away her pain. It is her time.

My eyes are swollen from crying so much and this is tougher than I envisioned.

Family is everything and we are losing a family member. People bicker about cards but they really don't matter. What matters are the ones that love you and moments like this make that even more clear.

Sorry for your loss, I know how you feel based on my wife going through the same when her dog passed.
Remember the fun times you had with Ginger, time will eventually heal your hearts.

She is gone. I just walked her to heaven with her leash around the block. My little baby girl is resting peacefully. It was so peaceful and she drifted away. I have never cried like this in my life and a part of me is gone. It is starting to thunder violently and the universe is mourning the loss of such a beautiful creature.

RIP Ginger Rogers. You were the best and I will always love you.
