Yeah the guy had some kind of insight...whatever he wrote, you would think about it...and it had a grain of common sense in it that you found difficult to disagree with.

    he WILL be missed.

Sorry to hear the news. Bear is one of a kind. I had the honor of meeting the great Bear in person. While he often played forum clown, his numismatic knowledge and skill were also top notch. He told me the story about how he "made" the one of the first MS68 slabbed Morgans. He bought it raw, he submitted it, got one of the first 68's and sold the graded coin at auction for a huge profit.

Very sad. Thanks for letting us know.

The forum community is an interesting one. I would not have known Bear if he was standing across from me yet I feel as I've know him for over four years.

I hope that his family knows that many on the forum will have him and his family in their thoughts and prayers. He certainly enriched our lives with his many great posts.

    May he rest in peace.

What more can I add that has not already been said? What sad news.

Even though it was expected, it's still a shock to read it and it's not something you can ever really be prepared for.

The board is not going to be the same going forward, without him.

I seem to recall him saying that he was in his early 70s, is that correct? If that is, imagine how many people he's interacted with in those 7 decades...and how many will have fond memories of him.

Oh man, this is sad news.

I always really liked Abe's posts - and his unique style of writing them.

I met Abe once - about five years ago at Long Beach - we tried to set up a CU forum members lunch for one of the days, and it wound up being just me, Abe, and Techeff I believe... and my infant daughter. It was a great meal - Abe had many wonderful coins with him that he shared right there with the table. And when the check came, he paid for everyone.

I am sorry I never got the chance to return the gesture. image

Not too many old timers here from when I first joined here back in 2004... now there is even one less.

    God bless Abe.

Very sad indeed. Bear so often posted interesting and educational information. One thing I will recall about bear is his good nature he expressed in his post , he really cared about the hobby. Bear had a passion to increase knowledge and so often would take the time to share his experiences and his collection with us. A good and decent man has passed but his spirit and shadow remains. RIP Bear one of the good guys.image
