<< <i>Anyone see the Pete Rose RC buyback on ebay? nice! >>

I hate seeing cards ruined by that crappy foil stamp. At least they trashed low grade ones.

Always looking for Topps Salesman Samples, pre '51 unopened packs, E90-2, E91a, N690 Kalamazoo Bats, and T204 Square Frame Ramly's

Gave in and bought another Target blaster today, pulled a Garza CC Jersey with stripe, nothing impressive, but from what I am hearing, I guess it is a somewhat nice pull.
Have some doubles for trade, would rather trade straight up than sell on ebay, got hosed selling a few on there. I have:

    SP: 461, 466, 475
    Then & Now: TN-AK, TN-MS, TN-SL
    Baseball Flashbacks: BF-WM, BF-SK
    News Flashbacks: NF-JKE, NF-MK, NF-VT
    Stick-Ons: 34
    Chrome: HP36 (Kendrick) #1649/1963

It's not much, but I will be adding soon. Also have SPs, Inserts & Chrome from other years if interested, contact me.
They've done studies, you know. 60% of the time, it works every time.

So are the image and color swaps part of the set, similar to cards 425-500, or are they outlyers like the SSPs and not considered part of the master set?

Tired of getting screwed on my Blaster boxes (over 50 with not much to show for it - One JFK card and some chrome refractors,) so i went and bought the last hobby box at the local shop. Nyjer Morgan color swap and Adrian Gonzalez blue ink. Much better luck with hobby for me.
    Looking for 77 cloth 9s and 10s.
    54 Red Hearts
    and now 64 Stand ups

Want to know why people are getting screwed on retail for the most part? Here is part of the reason why......

In a 2006 blaster, Chromes are 1 in 10 packs, Refractors were 1 in 34 packs, Black Refractors were 1 in 328 packs, Real One Autos were 1 in 366 packs.

In a 2012 blaster, Chromes are 1 in 22 packs, Refractors were 1 in 77 packs, Black Refractors were 1 in 690 packs, Real One Autos were 1 in 562 packs.

    Need I say more?

Are you guys finding the image swaps to be 1 per hobby box? Whats the ratio on the color swaps? I cracked 4 hobby boxes and pulled 1. Are they 1 per case? 1 per every other box?

So what we're saying then is that there is twice as much material out there then there was in 2006? It seems like hobby boxes are already getting tuff to find, at least locally.

Blaster are still $19.99. The Target blasters I have bought (6 in total) I must have really beat the odds. Last night opened 2 and one refractor in each, one contained a club house collection plus of course the red varation card that seems to drop on per blaster box. I have always believed in the past that target blasters had better hits compared to wal-mart or any other blaster. Last year the only ink i pulled came from a target blaster.

I,ve purchased close to 20 packs at Walmart and no ssp until today.

Today I went to get a birthday cake for my son and just grabbed the pack on top of the box and got a very nice Freddie Freeman red auto. The packs were all messy and seemed these been searched. I guess it was pure luck.

Whoever is a Freeman collector please note ill trade or sell it. If interested, send a message.

By the way, the retail odds were worse in 06 but that doesn't mean there is more product out there. There are multiple retail distro methods now. Retail packs. Blasters and jumbo. Not to mention the gravity feed

And it's not necessarily true topps seeded an equal amt of chromed in retail vs hobby. Maybe 2/3 of all chromed are seeded into hobby packs. The Only way to guess is to look at the odds in hobby of pulling hobby-only pulls. That tells the num of hobby packs. Then look at chrome seeding to see how many chromed are in hobby

Wouldn't it be more accurate to tell the production numbers by the hardest pulls like the cuts? Assuming there are only 1 or 2 of the cuts put into retail pack, then
you could guess the production run of those packs by the cut odds X1 or X2. no?

    Buying blasters? BEWARE!!!
Just bought one today, it had 7 packs instead of 8. If you are going to buy a blaster, I would compare them and make sure one isn't lighter than the other. And another box without any real hit besides SP, the target red border and a sticker. I just hope I don't run out of money before I can get to a show and buy a hobby box.
They've done studies, you know. 60% of the time, it works every time.

<< <i>Wouldn't it be more accurate to tell the production numbers by the hardest pulls like the cuts? Assuming there are only 1 or 2 of the cuts put into retail pack, then
you could guess the production run of those packs by the cut odds X1 or X2. no? >>

But, they don't give accurate odds on 1/1 or 10/10...Do they?

I have to say that "stated odds" and "actual odds" are two different things. I have opened thousands of packs over the past few years of Heritage (and regular Topps) at my local Wal Mart without a single auto. I just think that with a hobby case, you pretty much know what you are going to get if an auto is 1:288 packs. You are going to get one auto and sometimes two if you are lucky. With retail, I can buy 1,000 packs with no guarantee of an auto. Topps can put what they want on a retail wrapper, but I do not believe it to be accurate.

but, I have seen plenty of guys open one blaster and pull an auto, or even better. I have opened more than 300 dollars in retail and have pulled NOTHING. Others, including
the guy who pulled the Mays, have done better than some who have opened multiple cases of hobby.

Good point, I am sure my day will come. Especially since I open so much! I am just jealous of people that open one blaster and get a monster hit! image

I only opened 4 blasters from Wal-mart and got a Ernie Banks Auto, which is ending soon on ebay. So they are out there, but it can be the luck of the draw sometimes.
