While I may question your choice of investments, form of storage, security precautions and use of time, I respect that the choice is yours and must admit those are some of the most interesting pictures I've ever seen posted here.

Reminds me of a story I heard third hand about a guy who grew up in CA and who played at a friends house where the father had bags of silver dollars stacked head high along his garage wall.

On a side note, now I know why "What is wilson's disease?" a question nephrologists always get right.

Here is a quiz for you...............what is a rare cause of MDS??

Second hint...........my license plate is UBER ONC

I was a few pages into this thread before I recognized the OP's handle from the BST post you mention. I came very close to taking advantage of it myself but never pulled the trigger.

Also a few years ago I almost bought a share of an enormous hoard of Wheat cents from upstate New York, that seller had over 2800 rolls sorted by date and mintmark (that's 140,000 coins for the mathematically disinclined).

<< <i>I don't disbelieve. However I think OP is becoming a bit arrogant with his replies. So what if there is a disbeliever here? Just ignore them and move on with your life. Don't keep talking about your Ferrari and wife and gold collection. Especially with the little smilies. Makes you seem uptight and condescending.

Regardless of the above comments; awesome collection of pennies, nice car and nice gold.

Yeah, the way you replied to a couple of people, including me, is just dumb. Either ignore them or don't, but don't go on bragging about cars and asking people if they would like more pictures and stating you know they would. I gave you props on your belongings and you just totally dismissed that and blew the lid off a comment I made. Jeeze...and here I thought I stumbled upon a forum of [mostly] non-narrow minded people.

Oh well. Good luck. I'm out'a this thread.

<< <i>I ask the OP with all due respect, what exactly is the end goal here? >>

Ambro - Thank you for your well-thought question... you always know the probing questions to ask the board members on this forum! As you can see, I've been on this forum since 2005. I've never started a thread that solicited 200 responses. I thought to myself "What kind of thread could I start that would generate 200 responses?" A few years ago, I realized if I accumulated 2,000,000 wheat pennies, my thread should attain the 200 post count I desperately needed. I purchased and purchased all the wheaties I could off the BST, eBay, the Boy Scouts, etc. I finally reached my goal and had 9 garbage cans filled with wheat cents. When I looked at the photos, I saw maybe 125-150 posts... I needed more! My really hot wife was looking through my extensive GOLD collection and she suggested... "Take one of the photos with an image of the Ferrari!" Man, I love that woman! I think she was right... I think we'll reach 200 posts! - compromonedas image

<< <i>So what is the point? Are you just buying them because you've got money to spend? >>

The point is saving them as an investment. with the price of copper going up, most of the copper cents will be out of circulation very soon and I expect the premium for the wheat cents to go up!!!
    Keithimage >>

Nice hoard of wheat cents....but I have to ask....what catalyst do you predict will drive the unsearched wheat cent premium up?....surely not copper prices rising....for hoarders of copper cents would gladly sell for $160 a bag of 5M....they currently sell for 1.5X face value now, so they have a sizable profit window to fill until they reach your buying price.....

You're buying wheat cents at a premium that hasn't changed in 20 years....an unsearched bag of wheat cents has been 3 to 4 cents per each since 1990s and is still the same today....
I wonder why you don't buy copper memorial cents from 1959 to 1982 instead? The numismatic value of your wheat cents is lost since they remain an un-searched lot of wheat cents. What you're buying them for and what they will sell for remain the same, which it has for 20 years. There is no gain in value until someone sorts them for numismatic value. It's the only value they hold since you paid more then a copper cent currently costs.
They are actually a poor investment since you can buy copper cents for half of what you pay for bags of wheat cents....unless you intend to sort them?

I hope I will never have to move it.
I plan to keep them until i die so my son (now 14 y/o) will take care of it!!!!
    Keithimage >>

Can I provide your son my name and number for when he decides to rid his parent's garage of the wheat cents?......I'd move them for face value and I bet he'll take such an offer when the time comes....He inherits an unmovable object that would take a lot of time to sell in smaller lots and excludes many buyers if sold in huge lots.....The wheat cents didn't cost him anything and "the move" will most likely come at a place in time when he has other things to tend to....how many enjoy moving their parents belongings.......

    .........fascinating..........

I'm still concerned about proper long term storage.

Some plastics and coins do not mix because of PVC and plasticizers.

He needs some major research on a suitable long-term mass storage container for these.

I wish I could offer advice on that. I am concerned.
