<< <i>I ask the OP with all due respect, what exactly is the end goal here? >>
Ambro - Thank you for your well-thought question... you always know the probing questions to ask the board members on this forum! As you can see, I've been on this forum since 2005. I've never started a thread that solicited 200 responses. I thought to myself "What kind of thread could I start that would generate 200 responses?" A few years ago, I realized if I accumulated 2,000,000 wheat pennies, my thread should attain the 200 post count I desperately needed. I purchased and purchased all the wheaties I could off the BST, eBay, the Boy Scouts, etc. I finally reached my goal and had 9 garbage cans filled with wheat cents. When I looked at the photos, I saw maybe 125-150 posts... I needed more! My really hot wife was looking through my extensive GOLD collection and she suggested... "Take one of the photos with an image of the Ferrari!" Man, I love that woman! I think she was right... I think we'll reach 200 posts! - compromonedas
I have loved this thread! It makes me want to start my own coin hoard. I just dont know what to go after. Looks like all the wheats are in the garage!!!
Guess I should have studied more in school and gone in to Nephrology/Radiology rather than FP. However, I would get bored looking at pictures all day and renal stuff always confused me.
Neat thread but please, OP. Stop adding an s to 'million' and 'billion' to make it plural. A doctor owning a red sports car; a lovely wife, and 20 millions of wheat pennys* should knows better.

<< <i>So what is the point? Are you just buying them because you've got money to spend? >>
The point is saving them as an investment. with the price of copper going up, most of the copper cents will be out of circulation very soon and I expect the premium for the wheat cents to go up!!! Keith >>
Nice hoard of wheat cents....but I have to ask....what catalyst do you predict will drive the unsearched wheat cent premium up?....surely not copper prices rising....for hoarders of copper cents would gladly sell for $160 a bag of 5M....they currently sell for 1.5X face value now, so they have a sizable profit window to fill until they reach your buying price.....
You're buying wheat cents at a premium that hasn't changed in 20 years....an unsearched bag of wheat cents has been 3 to 4 cents per each since 1990s and is still the same today.... I wonder why you don't buy copper memorial cents from 1959 to 1982 instead? The numismatic value of your wheat cents is lost since they remain an un-searched lot of wheat cents. What you're buying them for and what they will sell for remain the same, which it has for 20 years. There is no gain in value until someone sorts them for numismatic value. It's the only value they hold since you paid more then a copper cent currently costs. They are actually a poor investment since you can buy copper cents for half of what you pay for bags of wheat cents....unless you intend to sort them?
<< <i>About 1000 pounds each, 33-34 bags each. I dont have a fork truck. i place the cans again the wall and start filling them up. I hope I will never have to move it. I plan to keep them until i die so my son (now 14 y/o) will take care of it!!!! Keith >>
Can I provide your son my name and number for when he decides to rid his parent's garage of the wheat cents?......I'd move them for face value and I bet he'll take such an offer when the time comes....He inherits an unmovable object that would take a lot of time to sell in smaller lots and excludes many buyers if sold in huge lots.....The wheat cents didn't cost him anything and "the move" will most likely come at a place in time when he has other things to tend to....how many enjoy moving their parents belongings.......
