Ok I am throughly confused. Just opened 20 retail packs and I dont know what I have here. My guess is some blue varations or tints.

    I Just pulled.

    image

    On Ebay

    image

The rest of these I am not sure of. Cedeno is a green for sure and I believe Ramos is blue. Can anyone explain the rest. Just white backgrounds and blue sky? I have a Target blaster im going to rip right now.

    image

Edit to add correct ebay pic.
  • Options
Cory, the Braves, Ramos, Polanco and are all blue tints. Everything else including the Cedeno are just regular cards.

There are a bunch of Cedenos on Ebay listed as green tints when that is not the case . All his cards look like that. The only tinted cards will occur from #'s 110-196 as that is where the errors/variations happened in 1962.

Guys - if you don't mind a question from a '62 collector - are the buyback cards being circulated in this release distributed proportionally (i.e. your odds of finding a particular card are 1 in 598 (plus variations)), or are there more copies of a given common out there than copies of a given star?

I've been watching stuff flying around on ebay (like the buyback Mantle/Mays) and have been pondering building the set in buyback form.

Anybody have a feel for this? Thanks.

just like every other year, there are more of the cards it was cheaper/easier for topps to buy back in bulk.

I have been told that there are less than 15 copies of some cards, like the more $$ cards, and the high # single prints.

I have been waiting for 1 card to show up since last week, and nada...

So, if you're going to try and build the set, good luck, but I don't think it's ever been done, and for good reason.

Mike I agree with Chas. It would be very difficult to put together a 62 buyback set. To be quite honest I would rather Topps not stamp the buybacks.

Thanks guys. I thought that they might buy complete sets and break 'em up, but if that's not the case than it is hard to be sure that all cards are even out there to begin with.

according to the Beckett checklists, they have stamped/released every card from at least the last few sets, so they are out there somewhere.

And I like the stamps. gives me something new to chase for my collection.

I wish they would not stamp the originals -- I am working on the 1962 Topps set and need some of the cards I received that were stamped! Grrrrrr......

Wait until 2038 and put together the "stamped foil" 1989 set. They'll probably be like 1 per pack at that point. That is of course assuming the world doesn't end in 2012. image

Haven't bought anything - went to K-Mart yesterday and bought a couple of base rack packs. Got 2 codes and the first one was a die-cut Manny image

We have no Targets or Walmarts anywhere close so I have to depend on Kmart or Toys R Us and Toys R Us smoke crack and charge $25 for a blaster

Not going back to the store that charged me $95 a box so I'm going without for now image

    Hey guys-

Would have worked on the checklists more but I had a couple of animal emergencies this week. DogMan, my 13 year old basset hound (who I have been with since the day he was born) got really sick yesterday and had to be put down. I am really messed up about it and haven't been doing much with cards lately. On top of everything, my cat (less than 1 year old) has been really ill for the past 2 weeks and may have to be put down today. I have needed to take some time to deal with this stuff, but I need a way to get away from everything for a bit and it's either baseball cards or street drugs, tattoos, and loose women. I'll have the new checklist up as soon as I can. The only part that probably won't be complete is the 3-panel boxtoppers but I will do my best. Maybe have the first version out tomorrow night, and if there are any errors or updates, please let me know via PM or in this thread. Thanks for helping me get through this.

Sorry to hear about your pets, I had to have my namesake fattymacs put to sleep last fall. You can't prepare yourself for it at all, it sucks.

I did find a lonely Walmart blaster near my customer's place (about 40 minutes from me) here is what it produced, by far the best blaster I've ever ripped.

Sorry about the pets, Floodmap. Take your time, these cards will still be here when you return.

I did pick up a third box today and got another 24 green refractors...is anyone doing this set?

Also got a black refractor sabathia....my 3 boxes were all out of a single case from my local guy.

two of the boxes were green refs (i have 48 now), 2 black refractors, 4 relics, 1 stamp, 1 jackie, no tints or ink, however.

Looking for regular refractors and will pay for your extras.
    thx, jim

Thanks Jim. I'll be doing the green set and I would love to pick up as many at one time as I can. Will probably start trying to trade once I get the spreadsheet done.

Trading has been extremely slow this year, but we are missing a couple of our key heritage guys this year.

One of my local shops still hasn't received his shipment and the other is charging $118 per box! Can't find much retail. This blows.

My area is totally dry of material. I've only managed to get 1 Hobby box, 5 loose hobby packs, 4 Walmart Blasters, 12 racks and 7 retail loose packs from a gravity box.

After sorting I'm so far away from a set (over 90 base cards, and over 50 SP's) I may just give up unless I can snag somemore unopened product this weekend.

I got a little retail early on, but have not found any since.....did a small run this morning and found one rack pack.

It might not be cost effective for folks, but my area seems flush with retail. I'd consider grabbing a box here or there for others. Besides, it will keep me from buying them.

On a different note, can someone post or email me a few side-by-side examples of the blue tint, green tine, and "normal" tint cards. I'm finding that I can't decide whether or not I "have" any tints. The only ones I was sure I had was the same Cedeno that others are mentioning, and we know it's not really one, and a Braves team (the gloves all look green) that I pulled today.
