You guys are saints, each and every one.

I am not convinced that the Kyle Drabek is a blue tint variation.

The ONLY thing I have planned tomorrow (after dropping an animal at the vet first thing in the morning) is to pore over every page in this thread, completed auctions, and other forums to get the 2011 Heritage excel checklist up. Thanks to Basilone for starting that. It's something I have really enjoyed doing every year. If anyone needs a checklist for any other year, there is a link on the freewebs page in my sig that is complete through the 2010 including Chrome high numbers. Price is only $100 e-dollars to download.

Well after starting to sort I have determined that my eye sight has completely gone to heck since last year, I'm laying out the numbers (i.e. 1-10) and then sorting based on the shape of the cartoon on the back because I can't see the damn numbers.

can I buy past checklists for the princely sum of 10 thanks per year? Please advise.

While I highly doubt that the Cano is an intentional variation, it is in fact a variation as I just got to that point in my sorting and checked 22 Cano cards and have 1 like that.

I haven't done one of these Heritage sets since 07 due only to money. Been following this thread and having fun though. are all these variations as annoying as they look? As a setbuilder I feel like I'd be pulling my hair out! I was annoyed enough at the different team and player name colors in 07!

You're probably right Kevin, maybe Stoney and I should throw them up on ebay with a title like "Hey Keith Olbermann this auction is for you!".

I would encourage set builders on this set. I am 1 card away from my set and have never been this close this soon into heritage. Like said before
    coallation has been very good.

well, as soon as Dave discovered the #478 David Wright SSP, I went on eBay and hit the BIN on this. I knew there was a better than even chance the card would be magically unavailable, and sure enough I was told this morning by the seller that he accidentally sold it at a card show yesterday. I don't believe him for a second, but it is what it is. Did I stand to benefit from the seller not knowing exactly what he had? Well, sure - at the very least I was going to use it for trade bait. Can't say that I'm necessarily made, but I am disappointed. It would have been a nice score, and certainly beneficial in some way to my collection.

Oh well, power to the people. I have some recourse, and will most likely use it. At least a small part of me believes the seller was informed of what he had by some "helpful" eBayers, leading him to not honor the contract he and I entered into.

I think this might be the first time I've whined about an eBay purchase in my online history. Maybe I should start a separate thread with lots of emoticons.

IMO it deserves a negative. I don't believe the "seller's" excuse.

    Dawg-

    Amazing.

By the way- am I reading that correctly? After 138 packs from Target, you only pulled four red tints? Or does that mean you got all of them except those four?

If I'm reading those numbers correctly, the red and blue tints appear to be much rarer than I originally thought. No way am I going to be able to do a master set with those.

I have no doubt that someone did a search of completed listings and sent him a message to tell him what he had sold. That sucks, Geordie. Hang in there.

You read correctly, only 4 red tints from 138 packs.

Box #8 yielded my biggest Heritage pull, due mainly to the numbers on the front. Since I collect HOFer's, this is an especially nice find. I hope my last 4 boxes turn out to be the best ones in the case.

Well, just breaking 2 boxes so far. Picked up these results:

    24 green refractors
    2 refractors
    5 chrome
    1 black refractor corey hart
    1 stamp (pujols/sabathia )#03/62
2 relics (josh johnson, alex rios0
    jackie robinson special #135

not sure about any other specials

Happy with the results - seems better than most. Tempted to just buy the key autos i want, rather than throw away money on a case. You can buy a Kaline, Banks, Musial, Gibson, and even an Aaron auto for the price of a case...that would be one kick-ass case.

ebay seller looks to be reneging on the presale - luckily i am covered, so looks like i'll get my money back. where to spend it.....

Should I have gotten a base (1-425) set with breaking 4 hobby boxes, 2 retail blaster, 2 retail racks, and 8 loose retail packs?

    Because I didn't....

I sorted my cards by the hundreds first and just did the 400s with the SPs pulled out. And while I did get no less than 5 of #419 Wandy Rodriguez, I didn't get #417 or #425. I fear its going to be like this as I go through the rest of them...Ahhhh oh well perhaps a Green Tint or an SSP is in there waiting for me. I did pull this jewel. Its for trade/sell if interested.

If anyone wants to get rid of a few commons, I need as many as possible of #'s 56, 58 and 60. If you want to trade base for base, I'll trade 2 for 1. I'll also trade SP's/inserts for them (maybe 15-30 of them per SP, depending on who the SP is) if you don't need any base cards...I'm desperate! I'll have a larger trade list after I'm done opening/sorting, but I already know I need lots of those three cards.

I've been trying to watch this thread because I haven't seen an Ichiro (#238) chrome on ebay yet. Are the chromes and refractors limited to a certain # range in the set? It's weird neither has popped up for sale yet....

It's the green tint not the SSP, but I don't think you overpaid for it.

I hit one walmart. It was cleaned out. I should have a couple of hobby boxes tomorrow.
Collector of 1976 Topps baseball for some stupid reason.
Collector of Pittsburgh Pirates cards for a slightly less stupid reason.

I picked up 3 rack packs from wal mart last night. Was hoping to find some of the loose packs there but no luck. I did pull an Alex Gordon green tint which wasn't bad.

I asked this on the other thread that was started for variations but it hasn't been answered so I thought I would ask it here, are these variations?? I noticed most of the rookies have a yellow background in the star whereas some are white background...see scans...

<< <i>those are standard parallels, Anthony. They don't seem to be as plentiful as the base Babe Ruths are, though. >>

thats because hmmmm, whats your name, i thought this answered the question,, but your name isnt anthony is it?,, jeepers,, well anyway the cards seam to be standard and not special, i have 2 with white stars on them as well, they told me this was as they were made, all of them,,, john

my bad, I just didn't associate the answer with the scan I did....their were not any Babe Ruth cards in the scan so I thought the answer was for one of the previous posts that referenced Ruth.....thanks for the info. also it's Al....Anthony is my boss at work and the less I hear that name the betterimage

Al, Bigjohn69 is 100% wrong, as that answer in the other thread was directed to Griffins (whose name IS Anthony), and not you. Your question was posed by someone else in this thread, but no one can expect you to read through all these pages to find it. It appears that some players have a yellow star and some have a white star. They are not variations (that we are aware of so far), but they were done this way to copy how the original 1962 Topps set had some yellow stars and some white stars. Hope this helps.

I didnt get it 100% wrong numb nutz, i thought his name was Anthony because well, i did not know his name, so i thought his question got answered or i would have responded, but i was right about the white stars being not a variation, right?,, come come on spit it out,, put me down on this board again and i'll rip your sack off darn it, image,, i was 50% wrong I'll take that, this is a tough crowd, 50% is good for me,, he obviously was concerned about the stars because he brought it over to a different thread and everyone ignored him,,,,j

All I know is that I now know the answer to my question, which is great......I really appreciate all the help that I get from these threads, I'd probably be lost without it.....and believe me I've been called worse than Anthony over the years......

Sorted last night and I am going to need some big help. Going to try to get some retail tonight.

Edit to say: I finally see a couple A-rod reverse negatives on ebay. Big props to the person who sold the first one.

    1 chrome
    1 BF
    3 NF
    1 TN
3 blue tints & 3 Ruths that I'm not sure of until I check my others.
