They went down real fast image Sorry couldn't help myself. I'm hoping its just the correction of the move from 33 to 40. Looks like a 0.618 which is normal for a wave 2 correction. If that is correct then silver should move quickly higher the rest of the week.

Dude, I hope you're right on that call. This "after hours" trade #@!$ ain't helping me a bit. I 'm not asking for a whole lot either, dang. Just 5 minutes at 39 after opening this am was all I wanted!! image

You can stop holding your breath..it's down $.40 now.image

It's best to sit back, relax and wait for the inevitable upward trend and then jump back in. (PS I just hope I live that long )

Are inflation and deflation the only causes of price changes? Or, sometimes, do changes in levels of supply and demand have anything to do with price changes?

Follow up question: if the price of gas were to decline to under $3 per gallon in the next couple of years, would we then conclude that there was monetary deflation?

For commodities there's also speculative play in the future's markets, derivatives speculation, hoarding, shortages based on weather and/or natural disasters, embargoes,
tax hikes, wars, etc. The price of Cocoa soared recently when the world's leading cocoa producer (Ivory Coast) fell into political turmoil and insurrection.

These days, it seems the speculation has far more to do with prices than the actual or perceived supply/demand curve.

Gas prices can fall even while monetary inflation is still ramping up (such as right now). There was a brief dip in monetary inflation (based solely on M1, M2, M3) a couple of
years ago. But I think if one dug deeper they'd probably find that below the surface, unregulated pools of credit and debt creation far outweighed any published monetary
aggregate reduction. Even while M1, M2, M3 were shrinking for a short time 2 yrs ago, M0 was jacked up 117% which allowed the banks to keep speculating on their own
accounts. While they were still thinking in an inflationary mode, J6P was hunkered down in deflation. If the govt wanted to dump oil/gas prices without any external impetus,
they could just perform an oil swap like they did in 2008. In essence they dumped a load of refined WTIC out of the national reserves and took back unrefined crude in it's place.
It instantly drove WTIC prices down. Once the dump was complete it was easy to make the reverse swap to restore refined levels to their previous state.

Are inflation and deflation the only causes of price changes? Or, sometimes, do changes in levels of supply and demand have anything to do with price changes?

    Answer - no.

Follow up question: if the price of gas were to decline to under $3 per gallon in the next couple of years, would we then conclude that there was monetary deflation?

    Answer - no.

Follow up question to the follow up question: if the large central bank cartel receives a $787 billion bailout (which actually runs up over $800 billion), is that money actually being created or is it simply "filling a gap" for the money that the bankers stole and misappropriated?

If the money is simply filling a gap, is the debt which was monetized by the Fed in order to pay the bailouts actually owed by the citizens of the US?
