No shame in losing to a really good Nuggets team on the road as the 4th game in 6 nights of a road trip. That's a good team. I actually think the C's look better. Garnett is looking more athletic lately.

+1 on the aging comment Although I don't think the Celts have really gotten any worse than they were. I think this year's squad is actually no worse than either of the past 2 seasons. I just think that the 3 teams mentioned above (mainly the Hawks) are all much younger and they are getting much better every season. Celts mgmt. knew they had a shorter window to get rings with these old guys. It will only get worse too. No reason to expect the Hawks dominance over the Celts to stop if Atlanta keeps that team in place and certainly no reason to think the Magic won't continue to get better. Meanwhile the Celts are stuck in neutral. If the Celts get booted in the first (or second) round this year, it might be a sign that its time to shed salary and focus on youth/future talent.

I hear you, but at what point do you start giving other teams credit for their success? Its a little insulting to other teams to imply that they haven't gotten better. Thats really what you're saying when you say that just because the Magic, Cavs, or Hawks are winning now, its mainly because the Celtics aren't 100% or something has happened to their chemistry. Granted, the Celts have had some injury problems, but the lineup is basically an all-star team. No 1 injury should be able to derail that squad.

Yeah, and frankly it's been Pierce's play. If he starts taking over games and KG can get 13/8 every night, they could win a series or two. I still don't think they have the guys to beat Cleveland this year, but it'll be fun. Go C's!
I thought Sheed played well last night, looked like he actually cared about playing defense. If he can fill the gap in KG's production, they have a chance. The bench as a whole is looking better lately too.
i met Gene Guarilia this weekend at a local card show, he played for the C's from 59-62.

They've beat some GOOD teams over the last 2 weeks. Not just that, but I feel like Rondo is doing a lot more of what he wants and it's really opening up Pierce. Here's the best scenario in the playoffs based on a reasonable estimation of where teams will finish:
RD 1: Miami (I would say Charlotte but they always have the C's number - like ATL). Yeah, it would be scary to play D Wade in Round 1, but other than him I just don't think Miami has enough to expect to beat Boston over 7 games. That series goes 5-6
RD 2: Orlando - This would be the 2-3 matchup or 2-4 depending on where ATL finishes. Either way, you're giving up home court to a really good Magic team that plays the C's well. I do think they're beatable, but winning a game 7 on the road for this team will be rough.
If they get past there I think you have to call the season a success. I love my C's but I don't think they're beating CLE in the conference finals. Now, if CLE loses to Atlanta in round 2 - then we're in for some really interesting basketball....because I DO think the Celtics still matchup the best with the Lakers (who will waltz to the finals)

Well, a good start last night, but the C's could not close the deal as Pierce's shooting went cold. They need to steal the next game to have a shot at the series.

It is and it isn't. No one is a bigger C's fan than me, but the same crap that we've watched all year is happening here too. They take quarters off. Rasheed is totally inconsistent and clearly KG can't take the ball of the dribble anymore - but hey, if LeBron is only 60%, they have a shot. I do see them losing by 25 in one of these next two games at home. We'll see. They have been mediocre at home all year.
Doc needs to preach STOPPING THE BALL. Even Mo Williams is getting to the rim whenever he wants.
While I have been sour on the C's all season, one could argue that with the exception of a couple 6-minutes stretches in Game 1, they have owned this series. That said, I think the C's need to win both games in Boston...if they go back to Cleveland 2-2, it is likely over.

Agreed -- Perk and KG missed practice to recover from supposedly minor injuries -- my thought is if the injuires were serious and were a factor in game 3 then they are finished. If Game 3 was just a stinker, then they can come back, because I think the Cavs have the potential to choke the series away.
