I ripped my first box today at lunch, pretty much a zonk. Pulled 2 group C and 1 group D relics (Lincecum, Bruce, Cabrerra). Still a pretty fun rip though. My fist box of many I'm sure! DARN you people for making me drink this kool-aid!
A serious question for all you fellas buying this A&G stuff: are you trying to assemble a base set, or sub sets, or looking for stuff to sell? I know there's a bazooka Griffey for $70 on the bay, and I couldn't bring myself to bid on it....I think it was an '08

I'd say $70 was a good price. Bazookas always sell strong, no matter the year.
Most of us here to various forms of a master set. For me, that's base, regular mini, a&g back mini, and all of the mini and regular subsets. I don't do the game used or many of the autographs.

I got the itch again and since payday is coming up I opened up another case at the card store and pulled three boxes out. First two were garbage and the third had a silk Derek Lee 1/10 and the a Quinten rip /25. Ill take that!
He also had a few customers who left their minis and I picked those up from him...had a protecto bubble in it too..nice
Well, I've cleaned the whole apartment now and still "OUT FOR DELIVERY." The fiancee will be pleased. I have a teacher work day tomorrow...I kind of wish it were today as I wouldn't have been able to open them any sooner anyway!

Yes, they're ~$80, I was fortunate to get these for less than $71 a piece delivered. It's the set I love to build though and I really look forward to this time of year.
I love the design, but I think I love the trading and community that Allen and Ginter's provides here most.
I cracked the first two words in the code a few days ago but I hit a wall after that. I really thought I was on the right track but in the end my mind just doesn't work that way. The first 9 cards in the set were the key.
You can actually get retail for much less than hobby. There aren't as many big hits but it's just as good for set building. Most people don't collect all the different mini parallel sets. A basic set with SP's is actually very reasonable in price. Preordered retail case 8 boxes/24packs/6cards-$350
