i'm gonna start off with some cool commemoratives in silver, gold and platinum celebrating retro cars of the 21st century and their 20th century counterparts
First post for me on here. I ordered mine late in the day on the 22nd. I am afraid I will get mine sometime before halloween the way they are going. The second day are getting theirs and after. I knew it, should have waited til 20000 more orders got in so I could have been first.
I mean very few people are posting today. because some are getting their coins today. I worded that statement wrong I apoligize I didn't mean anything by it.
When it comes to cars. In my mind cars are like coins. you have your expensive coins (Double Eagles, 20th Anniver Gold AG Set, etc) and your expensive cars (Rollys Royce, Bentley, Lambo's, etc). Coins and cars are either too expensive to get or are too cheap to get them all. >>

You paid 1189. As of today, the Mint is selling it for 1339 which is 150 more than you bought it for. Sell it on BST or Ebay for 1300+ and make it worth your while, but don't return it back to the Mint.
Has anybody receive the long awaited email today??? Is there a mid-day run where they blast 'em all out at once? Or do they trickle out as orders are filled? It's been too quiet on the delivery front - it's after 3:00 Eastern, 2:00 Central. One of us should have won the UHR lottery today...

New to this forum. It took awhile to get my password from the admin. but I have been reading this forum for a week or so.
I too have a lot of problems with the UHR customer service and also the new US Mint. I placed my order (30835XXX) very early on day one and I too have gotten nothing except the run-around. The day after I placed my order I gave my brochure for the coin to a friend and he ordered one that weekend. His order number was almost 50,000 orders after mine. Of course he has had his coin for almost a week and I still don't even have a ship notification.
This leads me to my order for my A Lincoln Proofs. I ordered on day one about 2 minutes after they went on sale. They shipped about 11 days ago but I still don't have them. Many later order numbers shipped before mine did according to what I've read. I'm all for saving money on shipping but it has been 11 days. My order has visited 6 major US cities all within a hundred mile radius and has been to Jersey City, NJ twice now. It took 5 days to travel from there to Philadelphia where according to the Post Office they remain.
I have made 3-4 calls to the Mint. Their response to the why later orders are being shipped first is that this is not their policy. Their response to why is it happening anyway is that this is not their policy. Terrible answer. I have also expained to more than one rep and a supervisor that orders should probably not be shipped lowest priority because the longer a box is in transit, the greater the possibility that it is damaged. Response. Damaged items may be returned. Bad response. I've already waited months in many cases. I also expressed my concern about valuable coins being left on a doorstep in the elements where anyone can pick them up. Response. Lost orders can be tracked and replaced. Bad response. My reply was to ask if these problems were handled with the efficiency of their order system. Sone silence.
I am going to wait for both of my current orders to fill. I'll probably order a Braille proof or two and then I am going to consider whether I will continue ordering from the Mint. I plan on a letter writing campaign to express my profound disappointment in the new US Mint.
I have been shopping with the mint since 1983 and I usually spend between 500-2000 a year depending on what appeals to me. I am a long time coin collector and I appreciate all the good information I've gotten here.

Yeah, it seems like they batch them and send them at the end of the day 9-11 p.m.
The US Mint has an Office of Public Affairs in Washington DC which is taking note of the complaints and supposedly passing them onto senior staffers there.
If you're willing to wade through talking first with a supposed, "Customer Care Rep", a supervisor can provide you with their phone number of someone specific there. She'll ask that you then email your circumstances and will be sure your message is distributed.
Worth trying if you have the time. Who knows, maybe demanding a credit of some sort might be approved.
I sold mine over the weekend for a $700 profit, I was amazed at the demand for this coin. A couple of people tried to low ball me but out of no where a buyer popped up with cash in hand without any negotiation. I wish I had more of them, Long live the UHR Double Eagle!!!

Yes, it's the runaround, the indifference, the "I don't care attitude", the unwillingness to admit there is a problem for fear that they would have to fix it, the lies - all of the above over and over again that finally wears on you.
I have been a customer of the mint since 1969 when I ordered my first Proof Set for $5. I too am considering throwing in the towel after this. I can accept mistakes, but they must be remedied. But you can't fix a problem unless you admit there is one, and so far, the mint is unwilling to take that first step. I wonder what would happen if, because of the abrogation of the FIFO rule on the distribution of the UHRs, they ran out before being able to fulfill all of the first couple hours' orders? Will they send us a free Silver Eagle for our troubles? I think not. Rather, we would likely get a form apology explaining that it was out of their (the Mint's) control and that we should have our UHR by Oct. 2009, if enough planchets are acquired.
The mint has shut down the order tracking service on their website, and when you call the 800 number, you get nothing but a recorded message AFTER you have entered your order number and zip. The message doesn’t say anything about when you item might be shipped, and only says that’s it’s “in process.” Then they say that it takes four to six weeks to fill an order.
At this point, I don’t think that the mint wants to hear from those who have ordered these coins from them. The service is typical for what you get from most government agencies. It is poor, and it’s pretty much what we have come to expect. This is how monopoly sellers act, not that I want anyone else making our money.

Well, a short while ago I looked outside and saw some tracks in the snow. Snows about a good 8 inches deep so I figure I'll go outside and see whats up. To make a long story short, I tracked the delivery of my UHR to a spot outside, on a set of steps I don't use anymore. Conditions are rather nasty outside, so I figure the UPS Driver, after his 300 ft trek through the nasty cold, wind & snow, just deposited the package ( wrapped in a plastic bag - very nice of them ) and made it out of here. Other than the possibility of being dragged off by a rogue band of gold crazed squirrels - it was very safe out there. No one lives near me but an Amish family, and they're generally not the thievin kind - especially not in this weather.
Anyway, I was happy to see UPS delivery happen on a snowy March day like today. I doubt that the USPS even came by at all.
Upon opening the package, I was truely in awe of the way the Mint packaged this Coin. Nice shiny wood coffin all protected by gauzey material. The Coin itself is really cool also. Looks more like an Eagle sized Coin rather than the Double Eagle that it is - nice n thick like some sort of medal.
My Coin has no Cameo finish at all. Is this the way it was meant to be? Or did I get the last Coin off the die pair? The fields are all hairlined also. Can't figure it all out yet. I wonder if this one is worth sending in to PCGS - wouldn't it be odd to get a PR66 First Strike?
Sorry I can't add pictures. Maybe I'll take it in to the Coin Dealer down the road and check his responce to it.
My gut reaction is to send the thing back - wouldn't that be a shame - seein how many are ready to march on the US Mint about FIFO delivery.
See what happens. I leave for a couple hours, and this thread here starts to unwind. Your UHRs are coming people; do not be discouraged! There will be lots of happy people tonight and tomorrow and all this week just like beeman and coins101 etc. etc. It's happening! Have faith! The UHRs are coming.

<< <i>Is this a coin thread or a car thread????
With people getting their coins. What else do you want to talk about. Politics. Better lets talk about the poor economy. >>
Who's getting their coins ???
I know four people who ordered in the first hour and STILL NOTHING...
Has anybody gotten a 'new' email saying the coin will arrive Tuesday. >>
Nuthin'!
Ordered 1/22/09 @ 12:16
#30827***
<< <i>What a cluster #$%^ at the mint shipping facility.
My CC was tested on 2/10 - all was okay
I was told (on 2/18) that my coin was scheduled to ship 2/20
nothing yet, card has not been accessed since
Called this morning and was told all is fine with the CC, should ship no later than 4/30, maybe sooner.
I complained that the breakdown in FIFO shipping is unacceptable, and their management needs to know the customers are not happy about it.
I was told that the problem is that CC auth is why some later customers received theirs first, to which I reminded her that my CC was tested successfully on 2/10.
She said, yes, that's true, it should ship before 4/30.
WTF is going on over there? >>
PBGS lies
poorly
Tens of Thousands of orders were taken the first day.
and the 2nd day people "processed faster" than all of them?? lies
<< <i>by the way, whatever happened to the 'very little people'? do they only come out on the weekends? >>

YES!!
Beeman got his UHR!
A spectacular coin as well! Congratulations!
