Sweet - I can't wait to see them... I live close to BBCE so I should be getting my packs in tomorrow's mail. I love these group breaks since BBCE does not charge me state tax like they do for normal orders.
I am really thrilled about this rip. That Henderson hard might be my favorite card of all time. It is a beauty. I have never pulled one from a pack either which will made it twice as sweet. Thanks for setting this all up for everyone.
<< <i>Actually I'm gonna use mine to upgrade my set. I have a few cards in it that could use an upgrade.I have a NM set with a few VG's and a couple of written on Team cards. The Henderson was sent in a few yrs back and got an 8. Steve >>
Steve, if u miss, LMK what u need, maybe I or someone else, can help you?
I found a package on my doorstep today from BBCE. Unfortunately I was running late to the airport and only got the box opened, not the packs. 4 minty 1980 Cello's are waiting for me to get home Sunday night. Sounds like the rest of you should get yours tomorrow. Thursday should be a good day for scans.
Good luck and enjoy.

I've openned all 4 cellos and nothing good to report. I got a bunch of well centered commons... My scanner has just gone on the fritz (probably just refusing to scan commons and minor stars) I will fix tonight after I get home from the Purdue - Northwestern Basketball game.
It's going to be tough figuring out which commons to sub

Oh, you are right. when you say $ what do you mean. Should I keep this pack unopened and send the pack in for grading. I don't know much about error cards. This is also the pack that has Gary Carter on the back.
164 - Greg Pryor has two variations of his card which are known to appear in this set, the first is an extremely scarce variation (#164a) where his name does not appear on the card face, the common issue variation card found in this set (#164b) has his name printed in blue ink.
387 - Fred Stanley has two variations of his card which are known to appear in this set, the first is an extremely scarce variation (#387a) where his name is printed in yellow ink, the common issue variation card found in this set (#387b) has his name printed in red ink.
424 - The Yankees switched managers just prior to the 1980 season thus Dick Howser appears on most cards while Billy Martin shows up on a few. The Martin card is very rare unissued version.
547 - John Wathan has two variations of his card which are known to appear in this set, the first is an extremely scarce variation (#547a) where his name is printed in yellow ink, the common issue variation card found in this set (#547b) has his name printed in red ink.
597 - Tom Poquette has two variations of his card which are known to appear in this set, the first is an extremely scarce variation (#597a) where his name is printed in yellow ink, the common issue variation card found in this set (#597b) has his name printed in red ink.
Sorry for the delay. I fell asleep on the sofa. The Fergie in the middle has a shot at a 10, the george brett is in nrmnt condition which is not bad considering it was on the back. The Jack clark looks real good too. I only opened 3 of the 4 because the Tim Blackwell is a rare error card and I am going to get the pack graded. I have to say for the ozzie and the other fergie because they have some major corner mashing. Most of the packs looked pretty good out of the 80 besides for a few touches to the corners on a couple cards. In general I am pretty happy with how they turned out. -
Just looking at the back scans in this thread, why are some of the packs folded/sealed along the top/bottom, while others are along the sides (long edge)?

Rob,
BBCE took the time to pull out "star cello pack" (i.e., a pack with a star player on front and/or back) from different cello boxes (and most likely, the cello boxes came from different cases, and were most likely "packaged by topps" at different times), so that all 16 participants would have an equal share of these "star cellos".
So, as you can see by the "reverse scans", topps did it differently (i.e., packaging those cellos). Like I posted on another thread, I got 2 different sized gum (one skinny and 3 wider) in my 4 cello packs!
The ozzie and Reggie have a shot at a 10 but will probably score a 9. Same goes for the Rollie and Seaver. The rest are just Nr-Mt. Still no Rickey Rookie.
Overall I am happy with this rip as I feel I got my money's worth.
<< <i>The ozzie and Reggie have a shot at a 10 but will probably score a 9. >>
I think the Ozzie is a 9OC or 8. The Reggie looks solid and should at least be a 9 if the corners are sharp. >>
The Ozzie could easily fit in a 9 NQ holder. Here's a Reggie PSA 10 for reference. Note that the centering isn't much better than the Ozzie in question.
