Sadly no Gretzky. Sooner or later one of these rips will hit a big rookie.
Next on the docket will be some Topps Heritage boxes (2001-2007). I've got 3 ungraded packs of 86-87 Fleer basketball & 3 packs of ungraded 79 Topps Hockey on the way from BBCE so those will get mixed in over the next couple of weeks as well. I also have a 79 Topps hockey box on the way but I am hoping I don't succumb to the temptation to open it.

Well as everyone else found out gum ruined 5 of the cards in each pack. But with vintage packs 95% of the cards are worthless anyways so the gum damage did not deter me.

    The good...

So figured I would post a picture of the boxes and packs to be ripped that are currently in my possession. It is a challenge not to just open it all at once. I can always get more, right?

It's funny- I'm watching these rips as though I have some kind of vested financial interest in them. Strange.

    Anywho, pull some great cards.

Awesome Clemente, that card is pretty tough and yours is centered better than most. I have a PSA 9 OC. If only it was a 71 OPC Clemente.......

Gonna rip the 2001 Upper Deck SP Golf box that I purchased as part of the group rip. Box was $175. Also will be opening a 2008 Goudey box I got for $75 from my local card shop. The Goudey box was a little pricey but unfortunately I tend to buy what I want regardless of price.

The same reason some teams waste their money signing certain players (see Eric Gagne or Carl Pavano): It sounded like a good idea at the time and they had to have a body fill the roster/checklist. image

Aaron "the Harangutan" Harang is highly underrated. I hate it when he pitches against the Brewers.

Sadly, that doesn't always translate into hobby interest/value.

Does the back of the signed Goudey have a hologram? I'm always scared that I'll skip pask a signed card, because I leaf through them too fast. Could you scan the back?

    gumbyfangumbyfan Posts: 5,168 ✭✭✭
I don't believe there's a hologram on the back of the autos. There's a different card number on the back (which is how I found one of my auto's...Marlon Byrd signed in blue over a blue part of the card, could barely see it!). I believe it also has the usual COA language on the back if I recall correctly.

Reds fan here will gladly make you an offer on the Harang. PM me if interested.

The Reds haven't finished over .500 in a few years, it doesn't take much of an auto to spike my interest I guess. image

Good luck on the rest of the boxes, great stuff.

Got my package from BBCE. I will be opening one of the 1986 Fleer basketball and one of the 1979 Topps hockey packs. Paid $270 for the basketball and $52 for the hockey, don't ask what the 79 box cost image

Not a bad pack centering wise but no star power whatsoever. Hopefully the other 2 packs are centered as nicely. I think 10 of these will be submitted under the $5 special several legit shots at 10s.

No idea why I keep buying 79 hockey. Complete waste, there is only one card worth pulling. I think the last two packs will be the end of 79 Topps hockey for me.
Nothing of note card wise in the pack.
