Went to my local card shop for some supplies and bought a box of 2009 Heritage and 2008 Leaf Certified Materials fb.
Will be opening both starting with the Heritage.

Very happy with the box even though I overpaid ($74.95 at the local card shop).
    Chromes are Jeter 1807/1960, Saunders 188/560, Snider 1334/1960, Snider 1333/1960, Loney 1686/1960.
The Gonzalez is the incorrect logo super short-print.

2008 Leaf Certified Materials football box purchased from local card shop for $75. If John David Booty makes it big I am set since I seem to have pulled a ton of his auto-ed rookies.

Its amazing what luck one box buyers have with some products. I have seen over 100 boxes opened on the heritage thread and no one pulled
    a box that good. Congrats!

Grades are in for the 85 OPC Lemieux and 79 Topps Gretzky. Not particularly happy though the bottom left corner of the Lemieux was adversely impacted by the rough cut so I can see why it received an 8. The Gretzky even with the centering is no worse than an 8 so I will be cracking and resubmitting it at some point.

First up 5 packs of 1982-83 OPC hockey. Packs purchased for $8.00 a piece from BBCE.
Not much star power in the packs. I needed a Dale Hawerchuk rookie for my collection but sadly didn't hit one. I will sub the Gretzky Scoring Leader under the April special.

Next 3 packs of 1981-82 OPC hockey. Packs were purchased for $30 a piece from BBCE. I need Glenn Anderson and Denis Savard for my collection.
Decent packs but centering was all over the map and very rough cut. I may sub the Gretzky.

3 packs of 1980/81 OPC hockey. Packs were purchased from BBCE for $60 each. I need Mike Gartner, Rod Langway and Michel Goulet rookies for my collection.
Managed to pull a rookie I needed but unfortunately the Goulet card is OC, has wax residue (from being the top card) and a machine mark on the left edge but other than that it is a pretty nice card...
I think I will sub some of the better centered commons to see what kind of grades they get. For $4.50 a card I will sub pretty much anything that has even a remote chance at a 9/10.

Next up 4 packs for 1978/79 OPC hockey purchased from BBCE for $18 per pack. I need both Mike Bossy and Bernie Federko for my collection.
No big rookies but lots for HOFers. I will probably sub the Robinson & Sittler.

Next up 2 boxes of 1990-91 Score hockey purchased from BBCE for $5 per box. Looking for the Martin Brodeur rookie. I will open a pack of 75 Topps minis after the hockey is done.
Pulled 3 Brodeur rookies but none are really PSA 10 material. Will sub one hoping for a 9 to add to my hockey collection.

Bought the following during the last week or so for my May rips. After getting burned on the new label GAI graded 1970 Topps football pack have been purchasing mostly PSA graded older and/or more expensive packs. Just need to figure out how to crack them out of the PSA case now.

Robb, would you mind scanning that 71 baseball wrapper for me when you rip it? I've started on that set recently and would like to use a higher quality scan of the pack for my binder label than the one I already have.

    thanks

Looking forward to the '71 rip. It's so hard to find those in nice condition. I bet they look great fresh from the pack.

I went to the card shop after a round of golf and purchased a 2009 Topps Heritage box and 2008 Topps Heritage high number box. I will also open the PSA 8 1979 OPC hockey pack today. This weekend I will be opening the 1973 Topps baseball 5th series PSA 8 wax pack and the 1972 Topps football 2nd series PSA 8 wax pack. Next week I will open the 1968 Topps baseball 1st series wax pack.

2008 Toops Heritage high number box purchased from my local card shop for $65. Got ink and a buyback. Very fun to open might have to do another box next time I drop by the card shop. Can someone PM me the short prints for the 2008 Heritage high numbers?
    Thanks,

2009 Topps Heritage box purchased at local card shop for $89 which seemed a little pricey to me but I wanted to open a box tonight. Pulled another auto (giving me 3 autos in 4 boxes opened this year). Volquez 254/560, Rodriguez 1483/1960, Kuroda 1615/1960, Longoria 179/560, Nady 1350/1960, Lackey 1910/1960.

Next up 1979 OPC Hockey pack graded PSA 8 purchased from BBCE for $280.
Getting it out of the PSA holder was a pain and I will need to come up with a better method if I am going to continue to buy and open PSA graded packs. Used a hammer and screwdriver.

Check on the back of the Dolan Nichols buyback. If it doesn't have an "Optioned" line of text, you really hit the jackpot (that's a tough variation).

1972 Topps football 2nd series pack purchased from BBCE for $135. The Dawson was the top card (wax) and the Greenwood was the gum card. Nothing really worth submitting. The nicest card is the Atkinson but that is only a $19.99 card in PSA 9.

1973 Topps baseball 5th series pack purchased from BBCE for $250.00. No cards worth submitting from this pack. The checklist was the top card and has a machine mark and wax. The Crandall was the gum card. Overall fun to rip but probably not worth the price point.

Cool rip. The 73 baseball does seem a little $ for what you are getting. Unless you hit a mint HOF'er you are not making your money back on that one.
