Wow, gone for two quick days celebrating Christmas with family and come back to find this post and a paypal refund from Craig. I'm speechless, now I guess I've seen everything.
Well, thanks Craig for finding out he wasn't dead.
<< <i>I would Not accept a apology from .......... >>
I would ---- I was part of this mess(a small part in comparison to Rube and his heart) I did not know anything about Tim but I got caught up in the amazing response to a call for help. Even though the call was false the response was awesome and I feel good being a part of it --- with that being said an apology from Tim would be enough for me --- I will take my donation and give it to a valid charity and I will do so in the name of Craig. Mike
The kid, that's a good idea. Monday morning I'm going to mail a payment to St. Jude's children's hospital, partly so that Craig's time and effort will not be in vain.
(a small part in comparison to Rube and his heart) i have a head like a hole, aint gonna get me twice, if yer dead, i wanna see a obituary, 12 8x10 color glossy prints of an autopsy, a toe in the mail, (preferably the left big one to go with me set) and a ou tube video ofthe funeral like the who said once in a brilliant song iwont get fooled again , mark it down
not everyone that passes away in the USA will be available on a web obituary--even if they have a gravesite. I know this from personal experience of searching for a dear loved one.

That's very true.
Many - not all - local newspapers do have a website, though.
I doubt anything exactly like this will happen again, but I am sure there will be other feuds and furors.

You might not get fooled again (love "The Who" reference) but your heart is still the biggest thing on these boards
Craig, thanks for issuing me a refund. The local food bank will be appreciative. In the future, I'm afraid that all I will be able to offer to similar appeals is my sympathy. I am sure you were acting in good faith.
Wow, I am still hyped up and can't sleep after such a great party. I have things to reflect on though.
This board here is a community--there is some definate social solidarity among us. In other words, we kind of look out for one another because we feel a sense of closeness on here. Its personal. The fact that this community was about to award a family with 5.5 grand on the strength of its collections reveals how much cooperation is part of our nature, not just selfishness. Being selfish does help us survive for obvious reasons I do not need to get into. However, being cooperative with others also ensures survival because everyone looks out for eachother. The burden to survive is not solely on one individual. Cooperation in an integrated community makes a strong community. There is a feeling of security that one can come here to get help ranging from free advice to thousands of dollars in collections. People are more willing to give in such a community because every member has gotten help here at least once before or at least they know they can get help here in the future. What goes around comes around applies here.
Call it communism, socialism or social solidarity (take your pick), but doesn't cooperation certainly have its virtues on its own merit?
I was very touched by what this community tried to do. Sure, we can become more vigilant next time, but let us not stop repeating this gesture once facts have been verified. I can imagine the amount of member dectectives we will have once the next tragic announcement comes.
Remember a couple of years ago, a seriously ill boy was given not much chance to live? I think he was a Derek Jeter fan. Many of us kept sending free baseball cards to the kid along with cash donations to the family via a board member who had close contact with the family. While the boy made some strides in recovery, he did not survive. The kid lived long enough to enjoy what the community did for him and his mother sent out a personal thank to all members. I think she wanted to send a thank you card to each person who donated, but some board members told her that she should concentrate on her boy and not worry about us. I forgot who started that collection. If memory serves correct, I think the boy's name was Ryan.

Have not been on here to read all this until now. This is crazy, maybe a little PM chain of the phone number and we ALL call and ask for answers. I don't think there could be a worse punishment than a drunken rube calling you at 3:00 AM every night....well unless you count the eternity of burning in a lake of fire that these people face when they die for real.
<< <i>I still would like to hear Tim's side of this.
Steve >>
Well, he logged on again this morning, as he does every day, and still hasn't responded to this thread or the numerous PMs he's been sent.
I don't think we're getting the other side of the story. >>
I'm just a bystander that saw this and am trying to piece things together.
My take is that he tried to run a scam on the board members and was busted. Now, he's too embarrassed (rightly so) to say a word. Seems that he had someone else, not his wife, make the initial PM or whatever it was to inform someone here that he had passed. I say this because his actual wife's reaction during that phone call seemed as if 1) she knew nothing and 2) she was about to kill her hubby for his actions.
Add that to the website about their supposed illnesses...wow. There's a special place reserved for the two of them in the end.
tim is a P.O.S ,you figure it out what it means, a friggin looser and his P.O.S wife is no better . I havent been here much in the past week, but if PSA , specifically Carol Or Mr Orlando havent booted there ass yet then they need to do so immediatly! the crap the pulled is unacceptable and they should be held accountable. Then they have the giant grapefruits to come in to this forum and shove it in our faces. If I sound pissed off its because I am .DO WHATS RIGHT .

Ahh, like my elderly neighbor, nice guy that I am I shoveled his sidewalk and driveway after it snowed. What did he do? Spotted that I forgot (I forgot to mail the check in, Doh!) to renew my license plates and had my car towed by the police.
As far as this business with Tim, this is beneath contempt and disgusts me. Regardless, it's impressive how you guys pulled together for him when you thought he truly did die.

Well, thanks Craig for finding out he wasn't dead.
When I found out what Rubes' donation amounted too, I felt kinda puny.
Cheers Rube.

Because from what I know, which is very little, I get a feeling you could use it.
And as thekid8 stated, apologies go a long long way with me.
Merry Christmas, Trent.
