    I have to say that if I ever have a serious problem and need help I hope my wife posts it on here because this a one awesome group of people. Take great pride in what you have tried to do for someone who appears to need help and don't let ANYTHING stop you from doing it again!

    Gumbyfan, you have stored up a treasure in heaven my friend, as has everyone who donated, and there is nothing more valuable!

    +1 for those sentiments

    Also, you know it's a serious thread if Mike, John G., and I all feel the need to come out of lurking mode.

    That was 2 years ago. I wonder what their story is today. In all seriousness, I feel sorry for them. Sounds like they had some tough times, and still probably do. No excuse for not being honest though.

    Who cares? I'm one for sure that doesn't after the scam he tried to pull off. I feel sorry for his children though. They are probably going to have a real hard life with parents Tim/Erin.

  • << <i>Craig , Very good legwork, as you have proven the ability on previous threads. I thought it was coming from the heart when you began the thread starting the process of getting the donations together. It took alots of brains and even more heart to unravel the deception. My hat goes off to you guy.

    By the way , where was the world famous detective "Fandango" at , in all of this ? I'm surprized he didn't know all about this , the moment the story broke. If he knew all about this , even before any of us (you) even thought of it, you may be up against a law suit, as all these comments that are commending you for your great and fine efforts , should be recanted and his name should be inserted, instead of yours.

    Craig you need to come clean, if the great "Fandango" did one of his own private investigations and somehow you intercepted his report. I don't know about you Craig.

    I have read this post for two days and still cannot find the words to post here.

    I guess I'll start with this.

    If you are a scammer, this place will sniff you out. You cannot fart into the wind here without someone smelling it. I hope every would be scammer will see this and Gary's threads and think twice about
    trying to put something over on this board.

    As for this, I hope that ruining your reputation for money was worth all the stress and humiliation it will bring on you and your family. I hope your kids are quite proud of you. A man is only as good as his word and we now know what you are worth. Go away, think about if it was worth it and try to straighten out your twisted mind. Someday you may become a real person in this world and be accepted somewhere.

    The silver lining in all of this is that Tim Masten can now continue to participate in ArnyVees Birthday Club
    Successful dealings with Wcsportscards94558, EagleEyeKid, SamsGirl214, Volver, DwayneDrain, Oaksey25, Griffins, Cardfan07, Etc.
  • wow.Thats the problem with the internet.The internet is a faceless society and can be reached anywhere in the world.99% of the people on these boards will never see each other in person ever.this guy probably isnt even sick.He probably started setting up this scam when he made up the sick story to give his death some credibility.What a dick.The guy thought he was going to get free money to get free cards.Glad someone did a lil digging.I never even thought of questioning this story.It was set up very well.He ruined a good hearted group of people who probably will not give anything unless seeing a death certificate now.

    Sadly, within 5-minutes of farve's first posting, a number of folks here
    had already pulled up the 2005 obituary notice, and found no more
    recent publications.

    Each, for reasons of their own - summed up above - said nothing.

    Perhaps, in the future, folks who have misgivings should be made to
    feel more free to privately PM their concerns to the people organizing
    similar efforts.

    While it's true that it can be seen as impolite to raise concerns openly,
    if made in good faith even the public messengers should probably not
    be bashed.

    ////////////////////
    //////////////////////

    This kind of episode has played itself out on the EBAY forums repeatedly. Most
    such frauds are discovered before too much cash has been lost, but some only
    come to light much later.

    The only harm here seems to be that Tim squandered his chips.

    I know Tim is embarassed, but a simple apology from him would probably make
    him feel much better.

    Most often, an apology is better medicine for the person who
    delivers it than it is for the person who receives it.

    Usually, "I'm sorry," is the first step towards a bad actor's rehab.

    No matter what happened, Rube's actions are unbelievable. To donate what he did to a family he has never met is one of the most outstanding things I have ever seen done on these boards or anywhere else in my lifetime. I for one would be honored to have him as one of my friends.
