Man, this stuff looks nice. I have one worry and that is the real one rookie cards. In the past topps has only used players who played in the year
that was being featured or current stars (guys like Wright and Howard). I don't like them including players who haven't played in the major
league yet. Its hard enough to pull ink, it would suck if your case hit was a 20 year old relief pitching prospect for the rockies!

Have we seen a checklist for this yet? I see that Howard will be in the chrome set, but Im hoping they don't screw it up and try to put some of the
heritage chromes into topps chrome baseball packs like they did last year. I know they have to save players for 09 update, but cmon, 2007 killed
us with only 1 or 2 true stars in the entire chrome set.

I love the look of the set and was very happy to see a game used Ted Williams card, now THAT will be hot! I like the Wright card, but cmon, in your 9 years
of collecting topps heritage, has anyone seen a game used card with two pinstripes in it? LOL

Of course the best part of the product is that we get to watch each other rip and pull amazing cards and make trades and pull more of us into the heritage
frenzy. I know all the usuals are here, but if you are thinking about joining the heritage gang, this is a great time to get in and learn before it hits. You
can be a master builder or you can just collect who you like. THIS is the place to be. Don't be shy in asking question.

    Can't wait!!!

good question, Mark - I have no idea. I pilfered the pics from another board to show them to the Heritage community here.

That looks like a scan of the flyer sent to dealers. I looked at the flyer at a local dealer's shop. I noticed the asterisk, but could not find out what it meant. I can thought it was legalese having to do with the fact that the player does not hand number the card. That doesn't float, because the same thing is by "numbered" for the chrome cards.

Maybe Topps is just trying to emphasize that the cards are numbered.

Two questions: 1) which one of those dudes is you, and 2) what was my sister doing there?

    1) Neither
    2) The guy with the wig (and bra) is holding a Disney fishing pole over his shoulder. His bait is a shelled corn cob. You can see it dangling near his waitline. As I'm sure you can imagine, he got some odd looks when he plunked his line into the water. Oddly enough, nobody said anything to him about it.

In regard to the asterisk (*) for 2009 Topps Heritage:

From the Topps sell sheet sent to dealers:

*Although these players have agreed to provide these cards to Topps, we cannot guarantee that all autographs and/or game-used pieces will be received in time for inclusion in this product. In the event of unavailability, Topps reserves the right to substitute an alternative autograph and/or game-used card. ^Topps has authorized only the packaging and distribution of the number of sequentially/hand numbered cards stated on the card, but cannot guarantee that counterfeit of other unauthorized cards will not exist.

I've been on the same boat and finally decided I'm not buying a case BUT I do want to purchase the complete base set plus the75 SP's and any "Current" Indians extras that you guys end up with.

So if anyone is throwing these together and wants to work something out shoot me a PM! I'd like at least the base set really quickly.
  • If you guys haven't already ordered your case, don't order it from blowout. LR Cards has them for the full funds up front pre-order price of $625 with free shipping. Their website is www.lrcards.com

That's where I got mine last year, and I just ordered this year's from him too.
  • Another bump for lrcards. No hassles two years in a row for me. It seems that he always has lower prices on the boxes and cases I buy.
Looking for Cello packs with Bill Buckner on top

Am I the only one getting the feeling that the real mystery of 2009 topps heritage might not be whats in the box, but who is on the checklist?

    Kevin
  • OK, guys, I went to www.topps.com and they have posted that Heritage Baseball will be released Feb 16!! I doubt this will actually happen. Also, they have listed more autos on their checklists and I have to say unless your favorite player is Bobby Thomson, you will not be impressed with the old timers as far as autograph selection goes. Also, they have a picture of a card of what appears to be a US President. Not sure if Topps is confusing Heritage Baseball with American Heritage??? Anyways, let's get some discussion and speculation going on this....

    Thanks!

  • Has the Topps website always indicated the 16th as the release date? That auto checklist is very weak, not anything impressive at all.
  • joestalinjoestalin Posts: 12,473 ✭✭
Wow, that is a pretty pathetic effort by topps. I really do think they shot their load with heritage update, which by this list is 10 times better than
09 heritage. I guess the only thing that would completly kill the product would be the 2008 pull odds. If these autos don't fall one a few boxes or
so then you have to wonder if this is worth buying wax.

Im sorry this happened to us!

    Kevin
  • OK, guys, I went to www.topps.com and they have posted that Heritage Baseball will be released Feb 16!!

The calendar at topps.com indicates Feb. 16, but the product information still says Feb. 25. Since the "usual" release date is the last Wednesday of February, the 25th is more likely, but, hey, this is Topps, so who (including Topps) really knows.Text

I saw an early checklist with Roberto Clemente on a TN. Unless I am mistaken, this is Clemente's first appearance in Heritage.

I wouldn't be surprised if heritage comes out early, its not topps busted butt to get a bunch of great sigs. Lets just hope that they don't have
GU redemptions like they did in the 50 bucks a pack Bowman Sterling!

I'm dissapointed that topps coudn't get Yaz or McCovey to sign...not even Frank Howard. Lets hope they didnt' forget about the 1960 baseball season
and the products history of retelling that story. I wonder if there will be super short prints this year? I guess we will know first huh?

  • It would be nice to pull something like this.....

Do we know if the info on the website is a work in progress as we thought before or is it final for the autos?

No that means Korea will get their product first and open a case and pull 300 real one autos in it!

    Kevin
  • Kevin is right, I can see this going just like the rip cards in 2008 A&G, Taiwan ends up with loaded cases and we end up shorted. My guess is that they will be shipping to the distributors starting the 16th, and they will then in turn ship to everybody else. I don't think blowout states it now, but they were saying that they would be shipping early on Heritage, I'm guessing they meant they would ship out on the 23rd or 24th, hopefully LRCards does the same.

  • I thought that video in Taiwan with all of those A&G rip cards was staged. I did not think it was real at all.

Didn't those guys actually have all the cards on ebay the next day? I remember them selling all of them in one auction.

I hate to watch people in other countries get the product first and then post all their cards first, afterall we all know many times the money you
can make back is double or triple if you are the first one putting cards up, this will especially be true for the rarer GU cards from heritage.

BUT, you can guage value and if there are any problems (a la topps mayo), and then adjust your spending.

  • Uh oh.....this might be the second year in a row that I get screwed....

Due to changes in business conditions we are unable to accept new orders at this time. At this time we are working on filling existing orders or refunding money

Any questions please email us at LRCARDS@AOL.COM or visit our website www.lrcards.com for updates.

  • Craig, several of us are in the same boat as you. Hopefully he still ships out our orders, but I'm somewhat doubtful since I emailed him and he read it but didn't respond. Nick tried calling but got no answer, just an answering machine with the same message as the website. I had a hard enough time justifying a case at the $625 price, at the current $770 blowout cards price I won't be ordering any.

<< <i>Are there any other dealers out there (reliable) selling under $650? >>

I think the window to pick up 09 heritage for cheap is closed, it is the next major release. If you can wait until after it hits and people will then realize that
this stuff isn't worth it and prices will fall like they have done every year.
