Added a potential HOF shortstop tonight. Alan Trammell already PSA/DNA slabbed. Has better stats than about a dozen shortstops that are in the Hall already. Also rearranged all the pictures so they are in chronological order in first thread.
1960 Willie McCovey and 1967 Rod Carew. Just got back from show signings. I should have requested that Carew use fine point because of his writing style, but live and learn I guess.
Added another potential future HOF today. 1995 Bowman (I believe that's a Topps product) Vladimir Guerrero already PSA/DNA slabbed. I guess I'll find out in a few years if my predictions will pan out or not. I've been amazed at the high prices of the current guys, compared to the true legends of my youth.
<< <i>Mike, You are making me very jealous with your never ending and always getting larger autograph collection.
Keep em coming! Thanks >>
Thanks, it seems to be a good time to be buying them with the economy the way it is. (except for the newer guys, I can't seem to find them cheap) I've been very pleased with the price of most of the older guys.
Added 1956 PSA/DNA slabbed (but cracked) HOF Walter Alston today. I'll send it in for reslabbing when I send in all my others. This is one of the deceased ones, so glad to knock it off my wantlist.

<< <i> How did i miss that one...vladdy is my player collection. How much did it set you back...
PS- he is already a HOF lock! >>
I found it on ebay. Was priced at $199.99 and I made a best offer of $100.00, seller countered with $129.99 and I bought it. Total with shipping/insurance was $137.49.
There's another one on ebay but it's priced at $299 or so.
I'm probably going to take some ribbing for this one, but I wanted her in my collection so I got it. Arguably the best but definitely the most recognizable female softball player of all time (and qualifies as a legend to me), who is about to win another Olympic gold medal. 2002 Upper Deck (Topps doesn't have a rookie card of her) PSA slabbed Jennie Finch:
Added potential future HOF 1994 SP Alex Rodriguez PSA/DNA slabbed tonight via ebay Best Offer. Cost me $480.00 total. A little higher than I ideally would have liked, but this guy is charging $300-375.00 at private signings on a flat and that's just for the sig. This one is already slabbed and in decent shape, autograph is nice. Plus, I'd much rather pay the collector that I'm getting this one from, then to pad AROD's and his wife Cindy's pockets even further by paying that outrageous autograph fee. They have enough assets to worry about dividing up, they don't need my $ as well.
<< <i>just to make you feel a little better about your purchase which you obv dont need i will give you $50 over what you paid on arod. >>
Thanks for the offer Roger, but I'm not looking to move it. However, if you are looking for one, here is the contact info for a guy that does a lot of AROD signings (he actually just had one yesterday I believe) and you can send one of yours to him to get it signed. It will actually be cheaper for you than buying mine, it was just the principle of it for me that I'd rather give my money to a collector rather than a promoter and AROD.
Added potential HOF Lance Berkman tonight on this 1997 Bowman (Topps product) already PSA/DNA slabbed. Who knows, he may fizzle out, but I figured it's worth the risk.
Added another future potential HOF. 1987 Topps PSA/DNA slabbed Barry Larkin. I believe he should be included. Whether or not the BBWA or Veteran's committee feel the same way one day, we'll wait and see
Added only my 2nd basketball card to the mix, 1992-1993 Topps Gold Shaquille O'Neal. One of the most dominating masses of humanity in recent times. He was a total arse when I met him in the airport one night in Dallas unexpectedly, but I always admired his raw power on the court, and the way he stepped up in big game scenarios.
I knew this would start happening, I'm getting bored since I'm running out of baseball that I want to acquire and I went and branched off with another football player. Too good of a deal (at least in my bored mind) for me to watch someone else get it so I picked this up off of ebay a few minutes ago. 1989 Topps Traded Troy Aikman already PSA/DNA slabbed. got it for $35.09 including shipping/insurance.
Added a 1969 Topps Reggie Jackson tonight from an off ebay sale. This one was basically just added as insurance as I have a nice one at MAB HOF Show right now, but they can't seem to find it with their poor customer service, therefore I bought this one in case they don't and in case Reggie dies before I have a chance to get another. Has a variant quick in person Jackson signature where the first time he tried the marker didn't work too well so he tried again right over it. This is one case where I bought the slab, not the card, but I wanted it just in case. Not the typical Reggie show signature, but one from a quick sloppy encounter. PSA/DNA slabbed
Tonight I added a space filler. It's a 1997 reprint of the 1952 Topps series with an authentic signature of Eddie Mathews. I don't feel like spending $7500.00++ for a nice signed authentic copy of his 1952 Topps card (at least not right now) so I bought something to simply put in its place for $12.50 plus shipping. Quite frankly, if I have to end up spending $7500.00 for any one card, it's going to be for an authentic 1955 Topps signed Roberto Clemente, not Eddie Mathews.
Added 1992 Topps PSA/DNA slabbed (cracked but I'll have it reslabbed), future HOF, Manny Ramirez. Picked up from a fellow board member. Thanks HOFAutos,

Nice Manny...wish I would have found that one (LOL)...Have you ever seen SCHR1st's collection?
Had a great day today for the collection today. Added 5 current HOF, 1966 Don Sutton, 1965 Joe Morgan, 1965 Tony Perez, 1969 Reggie Jackson and 1967 Tom Seaver. All signed at the HOF Spectacular show put on by MAB. Also added one of my favorites to watch though probably not a HOF because of the potential roid issue 1990 Juan Gonzalez (Juando had an electric bat, the ball absolutely flew off of it, was a good friendly guy here in Texas and would sign quite frequently for me when I was younger), and on a whim, picked up a 1999 C.C. Sabathia just in case he ends his career the way he started and for the price, couldn't pass it up.
i haven't looked in a while either, very impressive. great collection, i reallylike the killabrew with "killer" added very nice.
good luck with it

collecting RAW Topps baseball cards 1952 Highs to 1972. looking for collector grade (somewhere between psa 4-7 condition). let me know what you have, I'll take it, I want to finish sets, I must have something you can use for trade.

<< <i>Looks like someone has a slight obsession with getting this project complete. Where do you get the dough to come up with all of these purchases? >>
You can say that again, I wanted to rapidly get all the living guys before they died and the price shot up and the supply became finite. I really didn't anticipate getting them this quickly, but with the economy the way its been, it's been a buyers market so I'm trying my best to get them now before the economy swings around. I've used a combination of buying/selling/trading to obtain them. Mainly moving historical autographs to fund the purchase of the sportscards. Most of my clients that I do business with on the historical autograph market have enough discretionary income that they've continued to buy, even during the recession or perceived recession, so that in turn has enabled me to continue to be able to buy the sportscards. It definitely would have been a lot harder if I didn't have the historical autographs to sell.
Hey all!! I'm new to this site but not the collecting world, I also have been collecting HOF R.C Auto's for the past year or so and Mike your doing an awesome job! Dan, Welcome to the board, you have some nice signed cards. I used to own your Ty Cobb signature on card that you have. Are you the one that bought it from me?
chromerookies, I also checked out your photobucket, I saw were you had 2 of some of those rookie cards, like Brooks Robnson, Billy Williams Luis Aparicio Rollie Fingers and Earl Weaver and was wondering if you would be intrested in selling or trading any of them, please pm me and let me know. Thanks Mike
Added a veteran tonight that I believe will get in one day compliments of his longevity, above average career and veteran's committee. 1960 Topps Jim Kaat, this card has issues as you can see with the clipped corners, but will fill space fine until I can find a better one. This one is used as insurance in case I can't find a nice one before he dies. I probably would have passed if the price hadn't been so attractive, $6.50 delivered from an online store so hopefully they actually still have it in stock and their website is updated. My cheapest one so far!!!
This one's not Topps but I don't think Piazza had a Topps rookie in 92. This is a 1992 Fleer Update Mike Piazza PSA/DNA slabbed already. Nice looking card and auto. A little higher than I wanted to pay, but I don't see these very often.
Very nice pickup on the Piazza card. That's probably the card I was looking at for a while, but thought it was a tad pricey. Can you say how much you got that card for?

Yep, you are the one that bought it, Dan MacHugh right? I don't 100% remember where I got it originally but I believe it was either Albersheim's or Kevin Keating or Richard Simon. I buy/sell a lot of stuff. Any chance you want to trade it back to me? If so, I"ve got different political auto's, and a few extra HOF signed rookies.
Added perhaps the greatest female golfer of the modern age, 1997 Alfacards of Sweden already BGS slabbed Annika Sorenstam. For golf, I'm having to get away from Topps as they haven't made them to my knowledge.
