I wonder how the PCGS 2006 tenth anniversary platinum coins will do on this news? I do have the quarter oz one of those. Will there be a tenth anniversary platinum coin next year as well?
I've applied typical search rules for Ebay that tend to work well...in this case, if you put something like 10th Ann* Platinum, I get 71 results, with his set included.

Why would it be no? I feel the same way you do I think, but the FS designation appears to have an ROI of at least flat to positive. That is, you will at least get your $10 back when/if you sell as FS coins appear to sell for at least $10 more.
Yes. I was thinking the same thing. I am so stupid I sent a 2006-w RP ASE in the same box as the plats for spot review. Oh well... It shouldn't matter!

i wasn't trying to be hard on anyone, each has his own reasons (which are really just fine) yet don't need referencing to someone else who did it contrary.
I thought the set did well and I believe we all have a reasonably fair standard now by which to price these sets in the weeks ahead. I had felt the set would sell for around $4,000. Thank you to all the board members that bid in the auction - I appreciated the "action".
Wondercoin
P.S. Whether this price level holds for the 70 FS set or falls may largely depend upon the grade through rate of the regular issue DCAM coin. I do not have enough information yet to determine just how easy or tough that coin will turn out to be.

<< <i>Big dealers get 70's like wonder. We who get 1 set and submit get all the 69's. Something to watch for. >>
You've got that right! Wonder why that is??? >>
When you send in a singel coin its harder to give 70 to the coin. Its my opinion that you have to give context, that is where multiple sets come into play.
I think Wondercoin is right - the regular proof will be tough. My PCGS experience on the platinums earlier this year was 2 out of 3 of the UNCs submitted were 70, but 0 for 2 on the platinums. These were pre-screened by a sharp eyed YN and myself. As an aside, we were 9 out of 12 on UNC golds getting 70's at PCGS, and my YN told me NOT to submit 2 coins, and I did (they came back 69's).
Wondercoin, is it worthwhile just submitting the reverse proof? The advantages I see are 1) selecting only coins without obvious flaws, 2) saving money by not grading the very high mintage regular proof. Is he special PCGS label on the regular proof worth the grading fee?

Rbalderman - The pop report has not updated. The grade through rates are well beneath those early listed numbers - at least in my case thus far. Like I said, it is a bit too early to tell though how it will turn out (other than to say I think the regular issue coin will be much harder to obtain in 70)- I have a number of sets in for grading which have not come back yet. We should see meaningful numbers up in the pop report probably by this time next week I suspect.

What are opinions on a 69 set. Probably 2000-2200. If I get lucky (70-70)on my submission, I'll think about flippin and pick up 2 more sets from the mint. Anyone else thinking of this if you get lucky?
Does anyone know if the dealers share thier orders on the shared orders page or do most of them keep it private. I see the presidential dollar bulk orders alot, but I don't see much else on the shared orders? Just wondering, thx for your thoughts.
FBH - Funny thing is the only questions I got about PAYPAL (as the auction had mentioned PAYPAL as an option inadvertently) is whether the bidder could avoid using it if they won the auction! Two separate inquiries involving making sure they could avoid paypal! Another board member recently told me that on higher priced items he was getting paid more often without paypal as well. But, in any event, if my winning bidder got a bargain, I couldn't be happier.

Well I did this, my mininum grade is both 70 70 if my coins don't get that they will be sent back to the mint as damaged. Is this allowed? Well I am going to do anyways. What pisses me off I read somewhere that these coins have been minted since Sept and pressed until early December, now where does the first strike come into play? Help me with this one first strikers.
<< <i>I think Wondercoin's set would have ended at leat $1,000 higher if PayPal would have been a payment option >>
I could see somone paying him with Paypal, I made that mistake on accident and I sent the guy an Email about 5 mins after auction ended and Paypal was already paid. He said, he didn't read description. Wonder be timely with Email if you don't want to accept Paypal. Some buyer's want thier item ASAP and figure it's easier for them. You must accept Paypal when you are a Power Seller. That sucks unless people are willing to READ the description.

Fact is auctions that don't list PayPal as a payment option will usually sell for less than those that accept it. Buyers like the ease of payment and protection PayPal gives and many will not bid on an auction that does not list PayPal as an option, even more so on a high dollar item. I guess we will have to wait and see if another set listed with PayPal ends higher or not to have an objective opinion.

FLB, you are correct.....PayPal adds a psychological buyer's boost!!!!
I agree, Paypal helps. Often times I scope out a coin I want for weeks, watching them sell on Ebay so I know what they are going for. I try to be that 1 in 10 auction that sells for just a bit less. I find that I seem to win more of those auctions where Paypal is not an option.
One more question. I was looking at my unc ASE's looking for 70's to submit. A few really nice ones looked good except for 1 or 2 spots that were shiny. As if they were small nicks... but if you turned the coin a bit you couldn't see them. Certainly the nicks were not visible other than if you got the light just right, and they were just specs. Otherwise the coin looks perfect.
I'm assuming this would render the coin a 69 - can anyon confirm that?
