Picked up 3 more of these Super Duper Bills. There are 10 in the set and were handed out at Super Duper Super markets during the 1965 pre season and season. I am missing only the Lamonica. The 3 I just picked up were in between album pages and not glued in them. They haven't seen the light of day since 65 and they sure look like it. They are snow white and pristine and the nicest examples that I have ever seen. The seller had the Lamonica but I was outbid because I'm a cheap bast&rd. Oh well, I'll learn someday to open up my pocket book. I give you the 1965 AFL Champion buffalo Bills.
W.C.Fields "I spent 50% of my money on alcohol, women, and gambling. The other half I wasted.
Here's todays new arrival...one of the coolest looking vintage football cards out there IMO..paid a little more than I would have liked for it...but it is a pop 1 of 2 with none higher..so I pulled the trigger.
I've had these in my collection already for awhile now so I thought I would officialy start a Butkus player set collection. Butkus has always been one of my favorite players!
8oc picked up for $5 delivered,already graded

Thank you for adding that to this thread Bob, great job!!! love the vintage style face mask butkus had in that picture.
revmoran the memorabilia you add all the time to this thread is just incredible!!! Before the years out I plan on starting a vintage program collection.
Thanks to Ryan (BigDaddyBowman) I finally added Blanda to my RC collection

Butkus himself would be proud to see that card. Nice Blanda pickup. I adore the 54's and have been trying to pick up a few of them myself. For the price, they are quite a bargain for the most part.
I know I want to start picking up some of those exhibits, but seeing that one card out there of Wedemeyer going for $1000 kinda scares me off. They sure are beautiful though. Is there anything on the backs?
<< <i>I know I want to start picking up some of those exhibits, but seeing that one card out there of Wedemeyer going for $1000 kinda scares me off. They sure are beautiful though. Is there anything on the backs? >>
DOH! You're right, of course. I've printed the first sheet of 8 fronts, but haven't mated them with the backs, yet. So I will change that beofre I complete the cards. Thanks for the heads up!
Awesome Joe Perry! Hey, I've noticed quite a variety of numbers on his jersey. Anyone know anything about this? He's had 94, 74, and 34 that I've seen and all of them with the Niners.
Scott, sharp Joe Perry rookie. He sure is under appreciated these days. First back to have two 1000 yard rushing seasons and back when they only played a 12 game schedule and typically shared the backfield with a couple of other backs.
Those are some great looking exhibits too. Mike T. has some great taste in the oddball football stuff. Looks like they found a nice new home.
Bob, sweet looking Piccolo cards. As always, great stuff.
My daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 2 (2003). My son was diagnosed with Type 1 when he was 17 on December 31, 2009. We were stunned that another child of ours had been diagnosed. Please, if you don't have a favorite charity, consider giving to the JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation)
I am asking my forum friends to either validate my anger or talk me off the limb. On Saturday morning I see a program from the Giants Bears championship game for auction with a starting bid of $8.99 and no reserve. I write to the seller and explain that my father is on the Giants roster for this game, his last in the NFL, and I'd offer her $1,000 for it straight sale. She writes back and accepts the offer and says when I transfer the funds to her account she will end the auction. I transfer the $1,000 and send her an email to thank her - still no bids on the item. About four hours later she writes that she is refunding my money because someone bid on the auction and when she ended it this person called her and told her that eBay says he should have first rights to the program. I write back to tell her that this bid was placed after I transferred the funds and that since I made the offer, she accepted it, and I paid her before any of this took place, that should settle it. She writes back about how upset she is that she didn't realize the timing of it and she would ask the other buyer to back out. I have no idea what claims this second buyer made, but in the end she refunded my payment and sent the program to the other buyer. Give me a reality check, should I be upset????

The bidder has NO CLAIM to the item other than having placed an initial bid. The only cause the bidder would have would be in the event that the bidder was the high bidder at the close of the auction (not when the auction was closed early). eBay DOES NOT have any rules stating that an opening bidder has first right of refusal and in cancelling an auction early, all previous bids are cancelled and the seller may make conveyance to whoever they wish.
The seller probably got a better price and didn't care to contact you except to offer an excuse.
I was finally able to decode the bidder information on that 1933 program and realized the buyer was someone I had done business with in the past. I called him and I think it was just a matter of a better offer - almost double. All her talk about ebay policies was smoke. Still, I think once my payment was in her account she was no longer the owner of the program and selling it was not just wrong but criminal - there must be some law about interstate wire transfers of funds - I'll have to call the law firm of Dewey Cheatem and Howe. For right now I'm going to concentrate on working with the new owner to see if we can arrange a deal - I know he will not simply sell it, but maybe a trade for a 1934 championship program and some cash is possible. Thanks for the responses to my post, they were appreciated. Now off to a week camping at the beach - Hither Hills state park in Montauk, NY
Great card from our very own thread captain Perkdog. Thanks Paul, very nice card and I appreciate you PM'ing me about it. I owe you a beer at a "gentlemens club" at the 2010 nat'l

That bad boy is smoking! Interesting that you show the slab horizontally...
I just noticed that the yellow background on two 1959 Topps Cleveland Browns cards is a solid yellow, unlike the other colors that have kind of a chain-link effect for the backgrounds. Is this true for yellow-background cards of other teams, as well? I've always thought of the patterned backgrounds of the '59s as a trademark of the design.
I've got a vintage sportscard question for you guys. On the 1954 Bowman Pete Pihos card #9 there is a line that extends from behind his left arm to the top of the photo. If you aren't really familiar with the card, it looks like a crease in the card. Is it a powerline in the back of the photo, or is it possible that the original photo had a crease on it before it went to press for Bowman? Sorry I can't post a scan, but ebay has a dozen of them there.

Sam..I checked both copies of the card that I own, and its on both. The line runs through his arm, so it cannot be a powerline. I would guess that it is a scratch in the negative.
How bout some real AA's...............I know Big Daddy & Perky and others have seen some of my scans b4. Here are a few that include some of the newer ones.
Gorgeus AA's! Cant wait for Football to start up- I think I will be contributing more by then.. Not sure in which way though, I might be looking at some low grade Chicles to add to my collection soon.

Sweet card Joe. Looks like the nicest 1950 Bowman PSA 8 I've ever seen. Most of the time I don't care for this issue due to the off white or toned card stock that most cards have. Your card is a stunner! The borders are so white it looks like it was recently pulled from a pack and graded.
I bought it site unseen, Paul said it was nice, but what good is his word, really?
I hadnt really thought of sending it in for a bump. Maybe someday when I get some "disposable " money Ill look through the collection for cards to send in for review. I sent about 20 in when the half grades came out, but those were just HOF RC's, and 84 topps FB
Hope you guys don't mind me spamming here...but I figured you vintage football lovers might want the heads up that I just listed a bunch of my vintage 60's and 70's collection on the buy sell forum page.
I am starting to liquidate my collection with the cards that are not as close to my heart like the Bowman's are....if I can get rid of them without losing too much sleep...I will move on with some more if I can.

Just got in a bunch of sweet 51's for the set...

I'm pretty happy with the way this turned out, considering it was more than a simple cut-and-paste.

I found a great college photo of Bednarik with Penn, so I thought it was time to add another card to my 1955 All-American style Third Series.
Joe- Glad you like the Davis, it was tough to part with it but Im glad you will give it a nice home
